Hey. That is so correct. A person's tongue can be their worse enemy. The bible says that in the tongues lies the "power" of life or death. You can either speak life into your own life, or you can speak death into your life.
The old saying says,"sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." There comes a time where certain things people say can kill someones soul. It can demorolize them. If someone says,"You will never be successful in life", then the power who received it may not be successful in life.
Everytime that person ventures off to do something in life, that saying comes back to haunt them, and it can halt them from being successful. So we must watch what we say to people, and also watch what we speak into our own lives. We must develope ourselves to a better person in life.

Yes James, you are correct. I think people neglect to remember that what you do and what you speak can rebound. This is why we must watch our actions and watch the words we use. Negativity is easy to direct towards others, but in the long run, it only ends up hurting those who are focused on doing more harm than good.

| Another thought comes to mind regarding the above. Have you ever heard the saying, "the one who angers you controls you?" Psychologists, especially ones who understand spiritual power will agree that you become what you hate. If you stay angry at someone long enough, you will begin to hate them, and if you hate them long enough you will become them. Case in point - child abusers, alcaholics, and in the arena we are discussing here, failures. No one can make you fail, that is a gift you give to yourself. No one can make you angry, you chose your anger. But the converse is also true, no one can make you successful, you make you successful.

Yes, PMHayes, you can share this with other members in your group. I don't mind. I certainly don't own this. Someone shared it with me and I am sharing it with others.
I also agree with your last comment about anger and hate. These are very strong emotions, very much like love. Because they are such strong emotions, it is hard for many people to let them go. Instead of letting them go, I believe the best way to with such emotions, is to replace them with things that bring about a good feelings or emotions; such as happiness, peace, love or whatever other good emotions that may come to one's mind.
As you stated, harboring emotions such as hate and anger, can bring about negativity and unhappiness, and we must watch are thinking very much like we must watch our words and our actions.

| Lawren, I agree they must be replaced by something more powerful. My answer is a single word. Forgiveness. One who angers you controls you. One who you have forgiven has no more power over you. It does not mean you have to like them, hang out with them, or condone what they did. You simply no longer hold it their account, you let them off the hook, let the injury go, forgive. I have also found that praying for the one who has injured me helps me to heal as well. Wow, a discussion on psychology and theology on a MLM forum. Now, that's a kick, huh?

| So far i have found somd pretty sharp folks in this forum. Trust me, all forums are NOT created equal. Blogs are the same way, good ones, bad ones. My goal when i joined this one (and i found it quite by accident by the way) was to learn from folks who have more experience in using the net to market their businesses. I am pretty good at recruiting, sponsoring, training downline, etc. But the old way of doing things, meetings at 8:00 at night at the Holiday Inn, trying to share the opportunity with each and every unsuspecting fool one meets during the day, running down family and friends, and trying to get them to listen to your plan, have really all gone by the wayside. Not completely, of course, i still pass out business cards, share with people i meet when out and about, but the real power is in the massive reach of the web, millions of potential prospects out there. So, i need to learn from you pros, how to harness the tools the internet provides. Thus, here i am.

It is so true all of these posts! How many times have you said something or even typed something you just wish you could take back.
I am in a ongoing class right now that teaches you how to process your thoughts into reality, if you let the negitives clutter your mind, this is what you will become, negitive.

Thank 1crazydream. The post I placed happens to be one of my favorites. I got it from a friend of mine that I met while I was a member of a MLM. The contents of the post list items that I have to continue reminding myself of.
By the way 1crazydream, what are your crazy dreams, if I may ask? Of course I don't believe anyone's dreams are crazy. Everyone is entitled to dream whatever they please. I say the bigger the dream, the better.
PMHayes, I used to be one of the individuals who attended success training seminars (STS's) and other trainings. I have a friend who is still involved with that organization and he has told me that they no longer have any monthly STS's. The reason is, participation has dropped significantly. This is one of the reasons why I too like the internet. I still think it is important to do offline marketing along with the online marketing. It is best to keep both oars in the water.

| I agree, about using all available means. Our group has very good conference calls weekly, and my upline are all very supportive, as am i to my downline. I do quite a lot of offline marketing, mostly in the form of business cards and word of mouth. I also agree with your coment on dreaming big. If we never dream big, we will never achieve big.

I too do both offline as well as online marketing PMHayes. I put out business cards and give out samples to people. I still have not mastered walking up and talking to strangers about my products or my business opportunity. It is hard to do this where I live because they don't like for you to do and selling in the parking lot. When I put out my samples along with my business cards, I have to be sneaky about it. I have been caught by the police a few times. I just apologize and promise I won't come back.

I don't have to do it PMHayes. I choose to do it. I am using other marketing methods that work just as well. What I am trying to do is to step outside my comfort zone and do the uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable. My shyness often inhibits me from doing things that could benefit my business. I am trying to learn to put aside my fears and become a little more aggressive with my business without being overwhelming to others.
I decided to do this because I have been involved in a number of live trainings where one of the trainers did just this. He and his wife did a lot of talking to people on the street. Doing this allowed them to develop a business where they were able to retire for the J.O.B industry in 6 months. His wife was 27 years old at the time. She is now 35 and has not worked at a job since. Sounds good to me.

| I didn't mean my comment to sound derogatory. It certainly wasn't intended that way and i apoplogize for that. I just meant that i am not particularly fond of putting out samples, myself. It's a lot like door to door sales, something i have done in the past, was not very good at and did not enjoy much. My Dad was good at it, sold encyclopedias door to door. He was with World Book and Childcraft which were very good products, but much of his business consisted of cold calling and canvasing door to door. I would much rather follow up on leads where people have asked for information and are receptive to it.

I understand PMHayes. No harm done and I was not angry with your post. I know you were just expressing your dislike of putting out samples. I just wanted to let you know that it was choice I had made, not something I was forced to do.
I used to hate putting out samples and fliers, but I do this as a way for me to overcome my fear of having to deal with the public. Although, often many people tell me that they don't see it, I am actually very shy. Strangers in particular are intimidating to me. I have gotten better at dealing with people, but it is a constant battle; one that I know that with practice I will eventually successfully overcome.

| I'm glad i did not offend you. I do concede, product samples can be a very good introduction to your business. If people like it, they will buy it, and some of them will decide to become reps themselves. I am all for any method (legal of course) that brings prospects to the door, so to speak. I tend to focus on selling the big picture, a business opportunity. I find out what their burning desire is, or what their pain is, and offer them a solution, a business that will pay them more than their J.O.B. ever will. I show them the light at the end of the tunnel, a way to realize that desire, or forever drive away that pain. It's my opinion that we are not selling a product, or a business, we are offering a solution. I do understand that for some people, they need to see a product, they can't see beyond that. In those cases, samples and leading them toward becoming consumers first will work. But the big picture is the opportunity, the solution to their problem, or to achieving their dream.

Nope Philip, none taken. I did have a question. Often I have been told by people that they are not willing to do the business or market the products unless they feel comfortable in taking the products themselves. In other words, being a product of the products. How do you convince people such as these to join you in your business without letting them try the products or do you make address these prospects by going on ahead and letting them try the products?
I myself don't think I could sell the products unless I like them. For instance, the coffee I sell; I love the coffee. I have also had many health benefits by drinking this coffee. If I didn't like the coffee, I don't think I could sell the products or the business opportunity. It would not matter to me how much money I could make.
Are you able to address people like me when you make you presentation about your business opportunity? I am just curious. I am also trying to learn how people go about talking to others about their home business opportunity.

Lauren, I focus on the "Big Picture" not the small one. The real money, the serious money is NOT in selling products. If it were, i would just open a store, online or off and sell products. The real money is in building an organiztion of distributors, a downline, all selling products and all recruiting more people to do the same thing, build an organization. That is the concept of "leveraging."
I talk to people with whatever opening they will give me. I have products that can make thier lives better, and i have a business opportunity that can change their life! I firmly believe in both, but i don't focus on the small picture of selling more and more products. It's better to earn one cent on the efforts of thosands of people than to earn one thousand on my efforts alone.
How do i go about talking to people? I just engage in conversation, and let that conversation flow naturally, whether it was begun as a product demonstration or a business presentation. I don't know if that helped or not, let me know.
