Greetings from the Online Marketing Nerd,
A lot of people ask me to help them with their article marketing efforts and usually after talking with them I find out they're breaking the golden rule of successful article marketing. They may be doing everything else right but if they're not doing this ONE THING properly then all of their efforts will be in vain.
What's the one thing? Here it is:
WRITE FOR YOUR AUDIENCE AND NOT FOR YOU
Let's face it. Your audience doesn't care that you need to sign up 10 more people this month or you won't be able to pay your cable bill.
They don't want to hear you waffle on about your home based business opportunity and how great it is.
The bottom line is: they want to know that you can help them. They don't want to be sold, they want to be told. Told things like:- How they can solve a specific problem.
- How they can improve their life in some way.
- Unique information they have been searching for.
- Something that helps THEM in some way.
In other words, you need to help THEM. You need to turn your focus from your own problems and give back to the world by offering your unique talents and insights for the greater good. If you do that, then people will be wiling to come along for the ride because they will begin to trust you.
When it comes to article marketing, if you take care of them - they will will take care of you.

It is good to see so many people taking initiative and giving us a good info on article marketing... Thanks for sharing it.
On-line marketing is considered to be the most expensive yet seems to be the most comprehensive marketing strategy that every company wishes to have. Nowadays, people especially those who are in the business arena tend to make themselves engage with the trend of the rapid growth of technology in order to stay competitive.
Many individuals elect to participate in an article marketing campaign. This is where articles are composed on subjects that are similar to those that are related to the goods and/or services that are being offered. Once the articles have been written, they are placed on the internet in what is referred to as “article directories”. These articles make good use of what is referred to as “keywords”. The keywords that are selected must be used throughout the article in order to ensure that the articles are properly optimized for search engines.

| A great way to write articles to the audience is to find questions that are being asked on forums or social networking sites and then write articles that answer those questions.

I was reading the other day about an insanely easy
way to write articles. Now I will preface this post
by saying, this was not my idea but it is worth
noting.... especially for those who employ
article marketing in their marketing arsenal.
There can be a lot of work involved in article
marketing if you don't know what you're doing.
However, I have not tried this yet but I will
because it can have tremendously positive result
in the articles you author.
Use YouTube to write articles. Watch videos on the
topics you want to cover then put the video into
your own words. It could take a fraction of
the normal time to write a 500 word article.
Do this on a consistent basis and you will have
more traffic for your business opportunity than you
can handle.

Article marketing has gotten a lot of press lately. Gurus have sold probably millions of dollars worth of ebook manuals on how to do it. Web script writers have made a bundle promoting software, both to create directories and to automate article submission.
Does it work?
That question would probably be answered differently by different people.
So what about me?
First off, I started article marketing about 6 months ago and have published about 20 articles in as many as 80 different directories. Some of those directories have RSS feeds that get my articles onto many more web sites. I have seen search engine directories showing as many as 15,000 results for one of my article titles.
I have had several web sites zoom to number one positions in several of the top search engines that everyone talks about. Now don't get me wrong--I did a few others things in my quest to gain a spot in the search engines. But I believe article marketing has done the bulk of the work for me.
So how do I do it?
First, I write about what I know. When I first started writing, I was promoting a Christian time management website. So I wrote about time management and success--both topics about which I am fairly well versed. Now that I have learned a thing or two online, I write about what works for me online.
Will article marketing work for you? Maybe. Maybe not. But if you haven"t tried it, you must. It may be just what your business needs to get to the next level.
Suggestions:
- Always construct an article title that is not in use so you can track the propagation of your article online. So before I submit an article, I type the article name, in quotes, into the major search engines. Unless the search comes up with "no results", I choose another title. Once you have one that yields no results, you can track how many sites are hosting your article. Once you submit the article, simply wait a few days and type the name of the article into the search engines. Do this every few days. You will be surprised at the results, if you are submitting to at least 10 or 15 different directories.
- Write about something you are skilled at and have an active vocabulary in. If you do not have more information on the topic than the average reader, you are probably out of your topic comfort zone. Simply choose another topic.
- Write comfortably. This isn't rocket science. Write so that it is easy to read. The internet reader is click happy today. If your article is tough to navigate, they will simply click away.
- Write short articles---500-750 words each. You are not writing a book.
- Always include a link to your site at the end of the article. This is critical for building backlinks to your site.
Now get to writing!

I find that article writing works well for me - it suits my natural style of work & thinking, but may not suit everybody.
Good luck with your efforts.
Do you have a blog/web page or even an article (!) that mentions some of the directories you submit to or submission services you use?

That is awesome advice...a little more complicated than your average article marketer entrepreneur things, but is awesome advice. I do believe that is partially what the Traffic Geyser system is all about with videos.

You can also focus on writing articles for a specific website or ezine. This is really the best way to go for maximum results. You find websites or ezines that fit your target market and approach them about writing for them.

I've heard it said to NEVER give your content to an article directory. The thought being that it should always go on your own site whether a blog or static. My thought is this.
First if I can write one great article on a particular topic, then I can write two. One for my site and one for a directory. That way I get the best of both.
Secondly, it's much, much easier to get an article on a high PR site onto the first page of the search engines than it is to get an unknown or barely known site, at least in my experience. I'm sure there are exceptions to that though.
Thirdly, every article marketer should be incorporating LSI or Latent Symantec indexing into their articles. Do a search for it to learn what it is and how it works. It will also help you to not have to worry so much about keyword density percentages in your articles.
Don't forget that there are other things that you can do with your articles too such as:
using them to create an ebook
use them in an autoresponder series
rewrite older ones and use them to submit to other directories
rewrite them and use them for content on your sites
use them to create a free report to give away as incentive to getting sign ups to your list
simply read them into a mic and record them into mp3 files
read them to make a podcast
red them over a slide show to make a video
I'm sure everyone can come up with other uses too. Recycle those articles and get squeeze every dollar out of them that you can.
Geez! I wrote another article with this post and didn't even realize it! LOL

Thanks for the links to the keyword search tools. I just checked out GoodKeywords.com and the have a couple of free downloadable programs that are great. I've been using the Google keyword tool, which is very handy, but it's always good to have an optional one to give me another point of view. Thanks!

In order to save time, I subscribe to keyword specialists. I have a guy I use that sends me the best keyword phrases and niche markets to join per month. I used to rely heavily on google's external keyword tool to research my keywords. However, now, I just outsource the grunt work of finding keywords that are profitable and in demand markets. If you don't want to outsource your keyword research, I recommend using a program called micro niche finder. Just a general rule of thumb I stick to is make sure that the keywords don't have over 500,000 in search engine results. You can also subscribe to niche a day com. I hope that helped!

I'd like to add a tactic we call Guerrilla Linking or Power Linking... with articles
it works great...
Most people are using Videos, Blogging, Hubpages and articles to market with, but
they don't use them together... How would you like to keep doing that, but have them working together as a cohesive marketing campaign to produce more traffic and get you on google...? Cool right? Here's the simple game plan:
1. Use everything Maria teaches you here about writing an effect article. Post your lead capture page link on that article in the resource box or wherever... Work really hard to make this article really GOOD. Outsource it to a Direct Response copywriter if you have to...
THIS IS YOUR "TRAFFIC BAIT" piece... our mission is to now work on getting it indexed on google or other search engines for free traffic...
How do we do this?
Backlinks!
Here's the plan:
1. Your article will have it's own link.
2. You'll write blog posts focused on relevent keywords and topics that relate to the info on your "Traffic Bait" article. You will then place a recommendation link to your article on your blog posts... which will be a BACK LINK to your traffic bait article...
3. You'll do same with videos on youtube and submit them to TubeMogul as well (free)...
with a link to your TRAFFIC BAIT article...
4. Same with HubPages and Squidoo lenses...
5. Include your Traffic Bait link in your forum signature lines too if you do a lot of forum marketing...

Article marketing is making all the progress I ever wanted, with only focusing on article marketing I have increased my traffic to 800 u-visits per day and I am increasing my website popularity.
But you need to learn how to do it effectively.
Submitting articles to article directories does not work any more, you need to know how and where to submit your articles.
Will it will be a long discussion to try to explain this but the idea is simple

Bloggers are always looking for content to publish in their blogs, and blogs are the ultimate place to submit your articles.

That system that you talked about Freedom Fire in your last post is so true. I have been doing that exact system for around a month and it is working out so well.
Really, through having a main atricle or video that points back to the landing page has been a major help. Because of doing this, I have been able to get ranked way easier and way faster than if I just was promoting my one main site.
