Hi,
To answer your question it does both. If you write good article you will build credibility and people will know you and your name, of course building credibility is one factor that will drive more traffic to your website and even targeted traffic, because people will click your links after reading your article. if they don't click it means you didn't capture their attention.

Article marketing is only one way to generate traffic, there are more ways to do it, social media marketing, forum marketing, advertising, SEO,backlinks, TEs, for me the best way is article marketing.

If you want to concentrate on article marketing I recommend writng at least one article a day.

I totally agree with Tanny and I would like to add that a lot of people give up writing articles because they don't get the king of traffic they want immediately, but writing articles is a long time strategy that will payoff big time if they are of good quality. Unless however, your article get picked up by a publisher that have thousands of subscribers, then you may see a lot of traffic more quickly.

Truby you are right. Many people don't start because they believe they don't know how to write articles and then it takes time to see the traffic.

I admit I didn't see the traffic until I started using article submission services. At some point I had to give up one of them and saw a decrease in the traffic and purchased the service again.

Hi Tanny and Truby - I agree with you both.

I would say that most of my traffic comes through the articles I write.

I know that for some people article writing is difficult, but once you get into the habit of it, it's not that difficult - and you can find some good plr articles to use or put into your own words (recommended because unique content is always more likely to be picked up by search engines)

One a day may be a lot if you are already busy - but publishing at least 2 articles a week on an article submission program, such as Article Marketer, will get them out to multiple directories.

Regular blog posts (once a day preferably) is also recommended.  You can also try blog commenting, free directories and social networking.

I have to definitely agree, that writing articles is well worth the time involved.

As I stated in a previous post, I happened upon a very creative way of writing articles that happened to get one of my articles to to top of google search engine.  I wasn't really planned, but somehow it worked out that way.

I was marketing at the time a wireless mlm program and I decided to write an article laced with keywords, and then submit it to an article database, and later re-arranged the article so that it would not be a duplicate and I could post it eslewhere.

Two weeks later I keyed in Wireless residual income on google and found the article that I had written:

New Wireless Cell Phone Residual Income Explosion

At the top of the search engine.

Targeting the correct keyword phrase is important if you want to make article marketing effective.  We should target keyword phrase that has decent search volumes but with low competition.  That way, the article that you submit to the article directories such as ezine stands a higher chance to rank well.

As the others have said, writing articles is designed to both bring in traffic and boost credibility. Successful articles have a variety of components though -- targeted keywords written in an LSI style to catch the spiders' attention, and high quality, unique content that offers real value to the reader -- something that is both informative and useful.

There is definitely an art to article writing though - you should study up on the different psychological tricks you can employ to get people to click through and read it in the first place - starting with the "catchy title" that leaves the potential reader believing that the article holds information they must have, ending with a piece that is written in an easy to read fashion and provides clear follow up action the reader can take if they want more info...

Article marketing is definitely a good way get exposure.  I would do research and try and find a good article submission service to automate the process.  There are a lot out there so do your due diligence.

I have actually cut back on my article marketing as I have found methods that take less time and get me better conversions.  I concentrate on CPA, postcards, and magazine coops to get traffic that is scalable and predictable.  If you want to generate over 1000 leads per month I would recommend looking into these types of traffic generation.

Most would agree that writing articles is an excellent idea for driving traffic to a lead page. But, how often should you post articles? Should you post more that one article to a certain article site per day?

Articles build trust of your expertise, which in turn help the end consumer make a more informed decision about further pursuing the end product or service you are recommending because of the knowledge level you have shown to the reader in your article.

If you can help or inform the reader of something beneficial then they naturally are curious to know more about you and anything else you may be associated with.

The law of attraction.  I like to use articles along with a full fledge marketing system that helps people become stronger marketers while building multiple streams of income all in the same system.

Writing articles is essential part of attraction marketing. It not only brands You as an expert in Your field, but it also generates very targeted traffic that are eager to find out more about You and perhaps, even join or purchase your service.

I would recommend to follow your passion and write about something that you can't get enough of. Something you love and don't consider being as a job. This way you will not only generate significant income, but will also enjoy every single moment of it.

Cheers!

Hi,

I think article writing is the single most important thing you can do to drive traffic to your site and using good submission services is vital as publishers are always looking for good original copy.

Most people including myself find it very difficult to write articles but it is worth the effort as well as doing regular blog posts.  PLR articles are useful for blog posts as long as they are not copied word for word as they will be identified as duplicate content and ignored.

Use PLR articles by all means but not for submission to article directories unless you have changed at least 50% of the content as this will just damage your credibility.  If you are really stuck and have a bit of money to spend there are article writers out there who can supply original content articles for a reasonable price.

best wishes,

Mal.

There is no limit. Post to your hearts content. I love writing articles and try to make a practice of submitting a few articles per week.

ezinearticles.com, in my opinion is the best. There are some tricks though. Give away valuable information that addresses a need and solves a problem .

The resource box is the take. They will only allow you to link to a page that you own. So send them to a page on your website or blog that pertains to the article and capture your lead from that page.

A great trick too is when ( not if )  you become an expert author add a widget to your site about your expert author status.  Or write a post about how article marketing is great for building in bound links.

I did just this a few months ago sending my visitors to the page listing all of my articles through a text link. My article reads went up a whopping 45% in 2 weeks and 4 articles were published.

In the course of 1 year I have 34 child obesity articles 52 published and 15,686 reads.

28 marketing techniques articles 24 published and 2,257 reads.

Yes article marketing is a must. Write to your hearts content

As long as your articles are informative and enjoyable, I don't see any reason why article marketing won't work for you and your business. Making quality submissions to article databases are good methods of promoting a website for the backlinks which will affect your site rankings.

I have been working with article directories for a while, expecially at EzineArticles - a newly submitted article will get to the top of Google initially but after 2 or 3 weeks the traffic will just stop. Trust me, I've been there and it happens all the time.

Unless you're targeting a super low competition keyword, the articles won't stick to first page of search engines.

That's the trick - optimise your articles for a low competition word, and it will stay on the first page for ages.

Remember there's 2 advantages to article marketing, when you submit them to high traffic directories like  Ezine Articles:

1) Branding yourself and having people read the article, and
2) Getting a high quality backlink to your website.

Tannyl,

How do you go about generating ideas for writing different articles every day? Do you read more about the niche you are writing about, or just hire others to write articles for you?

I see some people posting close to 20+ articles every day. That is high article marketing dedication.

Fuad

Fuad, I don't know how people post 20 articles a day, surely they must be outsourcing at least some of their article writing.

One good way to generate ideas is using Google Alerts. Subscribe to an alert for all the different topics you can think of. Then, each day, have a quick look at the Alert headings to see if any interest you.

If any of them do interest you, open them up and see if there's something you could do a review on or write about.

Another way is to look at the Ezine articles already written just to get an idea. Then, write in your own words about the subject. Different people are attracted to different kinds of articles, so yours may work for someone who didn't like another article written on the same topic.
