I have been observing.

Since google had it's algorithm changed
I had no worries because I was keeping
my habit of updating my blog with only my
very own original contents. That
at least keeps my readers feel that they're
bring rewarded with materials different
like what most marketers are doing out there.

It's called "honest marketing";)

I have to agree that that's a very informative article thomasnagus.
I discovered that my site rose quickly to 250 links coming back to me
once I started writing articles.   Considering that I had fewer than
40 links to begin with, I'm proud of myself.

Your article confirms that I'm on the right track.

Thanks again,
coluden

One other thing on this. If you submit your articles manually look at the page rank of the directory you are submitting to. A directory with a Google Page Rank of 3 or higher is where you want to submit them.

Otherwise use a service like ArticleMarketer.com and let them do it for you. I have taken several websites to page one on Google because of article marketing. It works if you do it correctly and consistently.

Although article marketing is a great tool.

Many people until today still fear of writing mainly
because they have never been a writer in their lives
before.

I'm one of them. Just as an encouragement I'm going to
offer 3 easy steps to starting a successful skill in article
marketing.. and you don't even need to be a writer !

1. just like writing an email or talking with a friend start
typing out your thoughts online or in a MS Word document
on your opnions about a certain subject.

2. do a keyword research and see what category your article
or document is worth associating with and what kind of readers
are interested to read.

3. Try to make a discipline out of writing a consistent number
of articles a week or a month.

If you have these 3 steps put in line, I'm sure it is enough for you
to get started, as I like to think "we learn something new everyday".
So, the basics are important but never stop learning and don't be
afraid to try out new things as this is what keep us civilised.

We progress.

So success is a process .

Regards,

Vern

Articles are definitely the way to go to increase traffic. Search Engines love anything new, fresh, and original. Thanks for these helpful tips, I've printed them out and will refer to them often.

Very good tips on article marketing indeed.

It's also not that difficult to get your article positioned highly within Google AND the article directory.  One of the obvious is to pick your keywords carefully (by narrowing down the keyword to something more specific, but not TOO specific - something that's still searched, but not to the point of overkill), and make sure to include them in the title and body, but not too much.  There are many thoughts on this, but in general, I like to use the 1 keyword / phrase per every 150~200 words or so.  That's worked well for me.

Agreed, if you're not writting articles you ARE missing out on valuable traffic. Note the word VALUABLE.

It really depends.

If you write a good one and
also if you're headline is attractive
enough to draw attention.

Here's 2 ways to solve the above
2 ideas:

1. A good headline addresses
first the problem and then gives
either a teaser to the solution
or a description.

2. A good article would have
some relevant keywords but
keeping in mind writing like a
personal story to help the reader
understand better.

lastly, I found out that sometimes
it's simply better to write your own
article at times as it becomes
a unique content.

This way you indirectly brand yourself.

Warmly,

Vern ;)

These are all great comments.

I found at first that writing and submitting articles was very time consuming.

What I now do is I use some plr sites, google groups and yahoo groups to get ideas then I put everything in my own words.  I then run everything through plrintegratror: http://www.plrintegrator.com

This tool is useful because it automatically reommends synonyms and page edits.  I do three or four spell checks also.

I use isnare, article sender and article marketer to submit my articles.

Here they are:

http://www.isnare.com

One article I recently subnitted to isnare was a basic article about how to evaluate affiliate programs.  It got 49 views in one day.  the url for my landing page got 22 hits in one day, resulting in three people joining the funded sponsoring system I use.

Pretty good for about 30 minutes of work for just one article.

Jon

Hey Vern,

Can I ask which 3 article submission directories you use?  I'm always interested in what others are using and what works for them.  And, do they cost money to use them - if so how much?

Thanks!

Hi Bri,

EzineArticles.com is the top article directory online.

Here is one that Google seems to like : http://www.moxie-drive.com/articles/

Thanks for the great tips! I originally never thought I would ever want to write articles, or even be able to do so.  However once I started writing, and got my first article written and submitted, I am now hooked! I actually now enjoy writing articles, as I love to inform, help and educate others about the online business industry and my experiences.

It makes sense when you think about. The #1 way people use the internet is for email. #2 is to get information. A search engine's job is to provide the best information on what ever a person is searching for.

So if you can write articles that provide good information you stand an excellent chance of having those articles show up on a search engine. The way you do that is through article directories and social directories.

I am having excellent luck with direcotries like Digg, Netscape and PlugIm. After I write and article I pubish on my blog and then submit it to various social directories.  I can get on page one of Google in 48 hours doing this.

Article marketing is very powerful.

Another way to increase the page rank of your articles is to set up a "blog-squidoo lens farm", if you will.

With at least three keyword optimized blogs and one keywprd optimized squidoo lens, you put links to each on each blog and the lens.  Then submit your atciles to one of the high page rank sites like:
Ehen the article is approved and published, put a very short teaser introduction and a link to the article on each blog and the squidoo lens.

I have three main blogs, each of which is targeted for a very specific audicence and market.  My articles usually get on the first page of google in 48 hours because of the blogs.  Then more links to my articles show in about two weeks.

Jon
