| How many articles do you think it takes before you have a fairly large amount of traffic coming to your webpage?

thats so right michael, I think both content and consistency is key.
Some of the Im'ers that I watch just submits un-original content all the way and after awhile they had to bid so that their article will get featured.
I'd say go original content which is unique and from your heart. consistency does play a part and these two takes discipline.
Cheers!

The more articles you post the better. If you submit 1 article a week to to 100 article directories every week, you will have 100 links pointing back to your site. Now multiply that by 52(52 weeks in a years) and you will have 5200 links pointing back to your site at the end of the year.
I believe that you must have patience to become successful though. I like to look at it like a long term investment. If you get frustrated and quit, you will miss out. If you give it some time, people are bound to stumble upon your opportunities in the future. Just make sure that you get better with time.
Articles have been very helpful to me even before I knew anything about internet marketing. I would do searches on various information about computers or whatever. I would always end up reading someones article(at the time, I didn't even know what an article was). I would always click the link at the end of the article.
Your link is like a fence between your article and your website. You just have to make sure that you have what they are looking for on the other side. Don't be misleading in your articles.

If you submit your article to 100 article directories every week...and only consider the article directory as one link (which is the correct way)....you will not have 5200 links back to your website after a year. You will still only have 100. Search engines count the directory as 1 link (or any site you're linked to) no matter how many times you "show up" on it.
The REAL benefit of articles and article directories is when webmasters and ezine/newsletter publishers pick up your article and publish it. They look to article directories for fresh content for their websites and publications. THAT is what multiplies your links....and raises your website PR (page rank in SEs) as these are likely highly relevant sites linking back to you. Relevant meaning closely related to the subject of your website....such as nutrionanal tips (ezine) and a nutritional product website (yours). Rather than an online casino website (webmaster link page) and a personal growth biz op website (yours). You want apples vs apples vice apples vs bananas.
And remember that every domain you're linked too (e.g. a directory) only counts as 1 link. Doesn't matter how many times your link shows up there.
God Bless,
Michael

Hey Michael,
Great stuff there.
I agree that the best way was that original and unique articles will get picked up rather easily just because it's "fresh" .. although I need to run off to the gym now to keep myself fresh
Webmasters... here I come!

Thank you very much for the tips I have received.
As you say this is not an overnight program, I am retired and during the last six weeks I have put in a lot of time posting 16 articles to numerous Directories.
So please wish me luck

Here are a few tips for you on the number of articles you need. I say as many as you can whip out get them out there. I have over 200 now and i have been at it for a little over a month. I have generated over $650 and every single one of my articles is listed on googles first page for the keyword i target.
This is what they are not telling you....The number of articles isn't as important as how targeted they are and how well written they are. You need to write articles that target certain keywords that you can get listed on google with.
And I wouldn't start with a ton of articles directories to submit to. Use the top two to begin, ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com. Once you have about 30 or more articles on those two sites (you'll have to become an expert writer at ezinearticles.com, but that only takes about 2 weeks and is pretty easy), then you can move on to other sites.
You can always hire the services of a ghostwriter if your not a good writer.

Quality articles are even better. I wrote an article a couple of years ago about the best mlm leads. It was picked up all over the place and still ranks me at the top of Google for that keyword phrase.
I have written hundreds of articles and the key is to write about a keyword phrase, get that in the title, in the first and last paragraph, and then do variations of it throughout the article.
Don't keyword spam, but write like you talk. If you can get a keyword density of 2% do it. That means on a 400 word article use you keyword and variation 8 times or more if it sounds natural.
The traffic will start coming over a period of time. The key is to write and submit as much as possible and link back to sub pages as well as home pages. Google for one will reward you for deep linking.

I get the most traffic from ezinearticles.com I also receive a decent amount of traffic from buzzle.com
I try very hard to submit articles regularly.
One of the things I try to do is choose keywords and keyword phrases that do not have as much competition. I'd much rather be number one for 10 lower searched keywords, versus number 100 for the most widely searched for keyword.

That is a good point. Targetting less searched phrases give you a chance to rank higher quicker as well. So do long tail phrases like 4 -6 word phrases . Example:
work at home is highly searched where
work at home mlm business opportunity might be less competitive.
The key is to dig deep and come up with phrases being searched in low numbers and build content for hundreds of them.

Hi Krunk,
While I believe that sending out more and more articles are
a good way of generating traffic. Most new marketers don't
realise that it's sometimes lies hidden in getting more traffic
by also focusing in on the content rather than the keyword
or quantity of articles submitted during a time period.
I realised that one of my articles which I personally wrote
and research before submission had more page views than
those that are just about re-write ones or even those that
I have done specifically on a certain topic of interest.
Write what you're passionate about and know about a lot
so that you could write much faster and easier and then
when you get better - just outsource those which you have
almost no time to research.

I have heard this before about tageting certain keywords. Thanks for the advice. I will give that a try and see what happens.

Great advice guys. I must give this a try. I'll focus only on few article dirctories at first. Then I'll add more as I go. I was focusing on submiting to about 200 directories at a time without focussing on a particular keyword. Neddless to say, my results were not very good. A mentor of mine mentioned this to me some time ago, but I didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about. Great advice.

A lot of great advice.
Thank you for the tip about keyword density inside your articles.
I believe the key to making article writing work in your marketing approach is consistency. Purpose to write at least one article per week and then do it EVERY week. You will find that the more you write, the easier it will become.
I have just begun writing articles (3 of them) and I have seen an increase in my site traffic. I know as time goes by and I continue to write and submit articles that my business is going to do well.
To your success,
John

I recoomend at least three original keyword optimized articles per week submitted to directories with a Google page rank. Also, if you post them to your blog three times a week, they will get indexed quickly

Submit at least two original keyword articles per week to some high ranking directoris and sites and use long tail bottom feeding keywords and it will take about three weeks to get on the first page of Google
