There are some excllent posts in this thread about how to optimize articles.

Here are some of my thoughts.  What do you think?

Choosing the proper long tail keywords and then optimizing your articles are essential for getting them ranked high in the search engines.

Keyword marketing research is THE factor that determines the success or failure of your network marketing website and articles. Applying some simple methods can help you do better optimized keyword marketing to attract more traffic from search engines more easily.

The purpose of choosing good keywords in your articles and for your website is simple. You want your articles and network marketing website to rank on top of the search engine. You need to think of what your targeted prospect are looking for before getting the right keyword which has a higher chance of your prospect keying into the search engine and hence, finding your articles. To determine how popular your keyword is being searched, you may go to freekeywords.wordtracker.com or adwords.google.com.

1. Do not settle for the obvious keyword phrases. Do some brainstorming and look for "bottom feeding" keywords.

For example the term "easter baskets" gets 120 searches/day. While going up against 420,00 other pages.'Personalized easter baskets" gets 109 searches/day and only has 615 competitors.

An article or website that is optimized for 'personalized easter baskets" will get a higher page ranking due to less competition.

2. Careful keyword marketing research will help you compare the plural verses singular forms to see which is better. often, just making a term plural will improve your keyword performance and page ranking.

3. Your third keyword research tactic involves grabbing the low hanging fruit. Or what I call bottom feeding" keywords.Ideally you're looking search terms with less than 10000 competing pages in Google when searching for the EXACT phrase. 5000 or less is even better.

For example, one article I wrote, "The Truth About MLM Landing Pages" has been on the first page of Google for two months.

4. See what your competition is doing. Use a program to view their ads to see what is working for them.

5. Tweek Your Results. Once you've done some keyword marketing research and come up with a list, refine the keywords that you think are the best ones. One easy, overlooked way to make a keyword different is to add an "s" to make it plural.

6. Use a Keyword Program to Expand Your Results Using a program like Keyword Elite or Wordtracker can help cut down the time it takes to finish your keyword market research.

7. Target Your Audience. The most common error of internet marketers is they use keywords that are too broad. Be as specific as you can using bottom feeding keywords.

I would say it take about 3-6 months to get some good amount of traffic from your articles.I would suggest using a automated article submiter,do two articles a week an hour a day submiting the articles to the directories and you'll see results.

Hello all,

Not only do you want to automate your article writing, but you also want to automate article submission.

I can have an article written for me and submit it in 20 minutes. Do this two times a week over a year and you are all over the place. Find out how:

http://www.submityourarticle.com/

I am just starting to do this, but have many people that I know that are having great success with this.

Hope this helps.

Tim

With http://www.submityourarticle.com/ the Article Leverage feature helps you avoid duplicate content.
Well written and syndicated articles help you to become a thought leader in your niche. When you become a well known thought leader in your niche this will increase targeted website traffic.

The amount of syndication an article receives is directly related to the demand for that type of article. Higher quality articles are always more valuable to webmasters looking to reprint articles. Perfect spelling and grammar are required to ensure the widest syndication possible.

The goal of article writing is to provide interesting, relevant and original content specific to what readers in your niche search and look for. Such articles should then be syndicated on websites with high traffic and Page Rank. Frequent article syndication will cause the link in the resource box to be copied by many Web sites

To get started, find where you will get the best distribution through RSS feeds and links.

Getting your article on a huge amount of article directories is NOT the goal. The objective is to be PICKED UP by publishers FROM those directories and chosen out of thousands to be featured on their sites.

The real goal of syndication is to increase consumption of your information by your target audience. You then want this to be followed by a click on your link in the resource box of your articles.

When you submit your articles to the average directory they simply sit there and go no further. The average directories get almost no traffic and thus do not promote themselves properly through RSS feeds to bring your articles any real exposure.

The directories that give you the best exposure are those that further syndicate your content through RSS and newsletters for each topic for which they accept articles.

Look for directories that are promoting your content actively and promoting themselves professionally. Look for directories with page rank and high traffic and do not waste time with the others

Just one submission to one high traffic, RSS feed-enabled directory can produce more traffic and backlinks than most of the rest of the content directories combined, since most of the others are small sites with article scripts written by amateurs. The backlinks alone from a strong RSS feed-enable article directory will increase targeted website traffic.

Hi All

I tend to try and post 2 articles a week to ezinearticles and once approved submit them via article robot to as many high ranking directories as possible all with a score of 3 or more. I then rinse and repeat this atleast once a week to get maximum coverage for links being indexed.

I find if you post them with article robot before there approved at ezine they sometimes get knocked back thus limiting the success of your efforts

I hope its of use!

FreedomFire wrote: If you submit your article to 100 article directories every week...and only consider the article directory as one link (which is the correct way)....you will not have 5200 links back to your website after a year.  You will still only have 100.  Search engines count the directory as 1 link (or any site you're linked to) no matter how many times you "show up" on it.

The REAL benefit of articles and article directories is when webmasters and ezine/newsletter publishers pick up your article and publish it.  They look to article directories for fresh content for their websites and publications.   THAT is what multiplies your links....and raises your website PR (page rank in SEs) as these are likely highly relevant sites linking back to you.  Relevant meaning closely related to the subject of your website....such as nutrionanal tips (ezine) and a nutritional product website (yours).  Rather than an online casino website (webmaster link page) and a personal growth biz op website (yours).  You want apples vs apples vice apples vs bananas.

And remember that every domain you're linked too (e.g. a directory) only counts as 1 link.   Doesn't matter how many times your link shows up there.

God Bless,

Michael

If that is the case, you still have your article listed at 100 directories and in those directories there is alot higher chance of people seeing your article? Surely the more places your article is, the more people will view it?

I was blown away my very first time posting my article in a directory.  I made it keyword rich and within a day I received two sign ups and then 3 more and then 2 more all within a week's time.  And that was my very first time writing.  I can't wait to see what will happen the next time I submit another article online. It is amazing how fast the traffic will come in!

If you are going to do article marketing you'll want to use an article submitter.  It will save you hours of time and submitting 100 directories a week is very possible. You can get it free.  Its a software that will help you fill out the the title, body of article, resource box, bio,and keywords with just a click.  I love it.

I agree strongly

I post several articles a week and without the use of a good poster there is no way I could get it done. There are several on the market of which I have a couple but my favorite and I think the best has to post robot.

With regards to the best methods and techniques for article marketing I am fare from the best article marketer on the planet but I do post some artciles. I start by posting them to ezine first, once approved I use the submitter to then fire them around the rest of my chosen sites.

With regards to how many I would probably say that I post 2-3 articles per week for each of my websites. I have found that this helps to geenrate a few hundred backlinks per week and thus driving more traffic and giving ample opportunity to place my anchor text. This definately works for me and has helped greatly with the promotion of my business opportunity

I hope this is of help

how many article sites do you submit your articles to? I mean there is no point submitting your article to a site that has an alexa rank of 1,000,000 as you will get next to no traffic?

Hi there again

As mentioned I use the old robot! I only post to sites that have a rank over 3 or above. The key here is to focus on quality not quantity. As the old faithful robot allows you to preselct categories it enables to enhance the chances of it getting published. Obvioulsy the posters available that dont offer this facility are worthless as if your article is related to parkinsons disease for example and it gets posted in the the home improvement section where is the value in a link from that? thats if it gets apporved which is mega unlikely.

From the top of my head I have narrowed it down to about 140 sites which i submit to. I hope that helps any further info just let me know

Cheers

Howdy,

Quality and consistency rather than quantity would be how I answer the question.

Quality to me means being relevant to the site at hand. And keyword specific yet general enough that your article(s) are picked up and published by others.

Consistency boils down to having a weekly marketing plan I follow. I find that by following a plan I remain focused on my marketing. This keeps me from getting caught up in chasing the next 'big thing' and thereby marketing someone else's site rather than mine.

A lot of good advice here!

One caution that I would add is this: whatever you do, don't be tempted to use an "article spinner" to generate more articles without additional work. That's a pretty good way to crank out terrible content. You might fool the search engines (probably not), but no one will want to read the articles or click on your resource box link.

I know quite a few internet marketers that tried to take this shortcut with miserable results.

I like what you said about the quality of the articles.  My best friend writes articles and places unique ones on our website so we will have unique content at all times.  She says the "bot" will find us quicker and it will increase our page ranking with Google or any other bot based web places out there.

She also says its important to change the article but I am not sure how often she feels it must be done.  Any input?

I've found the more I change the content the better. I actually write an article a day to keep the content always new and fresh. The more the bots see new and relevant content the more they'll spider your sites.

You did 200 articles in a month?  Did you ever sleep?  I mean it takes me time to think through what I want the article to be about as I am writing it, and to make sure that it is original as well as thought out.

You are a machine!

well from my experience, it takes from 100 articles posted online. If you need consistent traffic, you will need to write atleast 3 - 5 articles per day to be able to build a subscription base of 300 - 500 members per month. If you think its worth it, then you can give it a go.
