I am a little torn and would love the perspectives of those here on the forum.

I see a lot of advertising for article writing services.   Now, by way of background I'm an ex-journalist and PR person so writing my own content has never been a challenge BUT ... as a Robert Kiyosaki student, hiring someone to do this would be more B quadrant while writing your own is S quadrant.

So here's my question:  Writing your own articles, blog etc should give people reading it, insight into you and your expertise. If it's hired out, are you really letting people know you?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

My advice :

try both. Only you know what you want best. Only if you're really lack of time to do your article writing then you should consider hiring a ghostwriter.

You can get them from between $7 - $10 per article and its pretty easy to find good article writers at this price. Try elance.com

If you're looking for better original content but without the hassle of both finding a ghostwriter or generating your own ones - you could consider purchasing PLR (private label rights) packages.

Happy hunting! ;)

I like to write my own. Plus, it really doesnt take that much time. I would also look into using old business emails that you have written. Just fix them up a bit... its all about getting your name out there to the most people.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your input so far.  It's not a case of finding the article writing hard (for me it is easy).

It is really the second part of the question:  are you giving people reading the articles a false impression (since you didn't pen the stuff).

Just wondering.

Hi Jennifer,

Well, I was a little surprised to see that I was the only one who voted on your survey there...

I am a firm believer that you should write your own articles and only hire someone else to do it as a last resort or if you are truly stuck.  Each of us has a unique writing style and our tone, philosophy, attitude, and belief systems often show through our words.  It is because of that, that I would never feel comfortable putting my name on another person's work (even if they were hired by me to do this).  Especially since I do write quite a bit (blog, articles, etc), I think people would notice a difference and wonder about it.

There's certainly no harm in trying out a service to see what the end result is, but I think that 9 times out of 10, you're going to want to edit it in some way anyway to make it more like YOU.  Remember that your number one product in this industry is yourself.  Don't let someone else sell you for you :)

Yours in Greater Success,
Merideth

Hi Jen

I think that individuals should strive to write their own articles. On the other hand, if they have difficulty doing so, they should consider having someone else do it for them.

However, I also think that they should have an idea of what they would have said, so they can make changes that what was written to make more personal.

Take care.

Hey Janos

I think think that if english language is a major problem for someone, then he should get someone to write for him.

Hopefully, this person can read english language well enough to make changes to the articles to make it more personal.

I am aware that there are times when you know what you want to say, but have difficulty putting it in writing. It would also be great if such person could discuss his thoughts with someone who could help him write the article.

In that sense, I agree.  If you are not able to put together a professional product, you should definitely outsource it to someone who can.  It is an easy thing to add your personal touch on the back end.  Just make sure you don't miss that step as it will be what people remember about you.

Merideth

For me I try to  set a goal of submitting an article a day to a different article site. Some of them will even do a mega blast to other sites for you for free.If you just keep putting out articles you'll have a lot of links out there to your site. Some people use this method alone to market although it is cumbersome and takes time.A good list of article  sites can be found by punching in  Mal Keenan into Google and following his plug in for profits training site.Download his e-book.It's great for any home businesses.

Hello JenniferL,

If you hire someone to do articles for you as long as it's your very own original contents like main points and the core of the mattter. Then, it really isn't a problem at all. In fact, it's good to do this because it frees you up to do other stuff like updating your blog periodically with your very own contents. Posting in a blog takes relatively shorter than writing an article which is 350-500 words long.

There's always a limit to how you outsource it of course if you give ghotwriters just a title and say " okay, write something about it " .. of course, they'll write whatever they know.

But when you provide some relevant content or keypoints and main discussion contents and drafts for them to expand.. it would make them flow along with your own personality and business traits in generating that article. ;)

Article writing services are more for people that cannot come up with thier own articles.  Some of us that can write and do it well don't need to hire someone else.

Yes, having your own content is a great way to go, but you can get exclusive content from a ghost writer.  The only real question is whether or not the ghost writer will optimize your content or articles.

Guys,

I just learned something very valuable and
would like to share it here. Instead of just
sitting down and typing away - you could
record your own voice and use a software
like "dragon naturally speaking" to script it
into text format.

Or use Mp3 recording on your voice about
a certain subject and have it casted at
castingwords.com .

It's definitely a good try and I will be doing this
in the next few days.

;)

I use both. When I hire somebody I make sure they get a dteailed brief of what content I need.

The great advantage of hiring somebody is that you can get a years content very quickly.

I've got a great writer who charges just $5/300 word article and $10/600 word article.

Drop me a line if you need her details.

I agree with you. Nobody writes quite like you. If you buy articles take a few minutes and re-write them in your own words. If you belong to any private lable rights programs take the articles and re-write them in your own words. Do it quickly and you can build up a very large body of work in a short period of time. Getting the ideas and the format for each article is the hardest part anyway, so I like to buy and re-write articles as well as write my own content everyday.

Hi Jennifer,

Have you decided the best avenue to roam yet?

I'm going to write my own short article now
and will also place a recording of my own
audio once in a while to submit to
castingwords.com to be transcripted.

:)

If you are confident in your abilities to generate interesting, SEO oriented content, that is the best route.

I can't stress enough how horrible most bidding sites are.  I'm talking about GetAFreelancer, eLance, and similar sites.

It's easy to find a single person or small team without having a third party site stealing money from both you and your content writer.  Also, those sites are populated by idiots 90% of the time.

If anyone has ever contracted a writer, gotten 10 articles that were obviously written by a baboon, and been hassled for payment for weeks over them, you know what I mean.  You have to dig deep and find someone who complements your own personality and style and can do their best to emulate that on your blogs and websites.  Naturally, if you run a website about feminine products, a male writer might not be the best choice.

Look hard and you will find something good.

Some people really struggle with finding their own voice.  Also if your wanting a good article sometimes research can be very time consuming.   For the literary challenged and time deficient I say go for it.  Hire it out.  When i stuggle with content I may buy and article and then tweak it to give it my own voice.  Big time saver.

I agree with both ends of your question.  Robert does state to hire people to do work for you, however, if you really want people to get to know you personally and to trust you, it's better to write on your own.  You are a journalist, it should be a piece of cake for you.  When I am reading someones blog, I like to see their own thoughts, even if there are grammatical errors.  I would never join business with someone I don't trust.  That's just me.
