| articles are a great way to get noticed. We use articles all the time when we are promoting our clients. This allows people to be interested in the article and then speak to the client afterwards

Hi Lightload,
Where are you submitting your articles
and are you using automated scripts to
submit them or my manual hand?
Cheers,
Vern

Yes, absolutely you can generate leads with article marketing, I do it everday.
I usually submit about 10 articles at a time, primarily to ezinearticles.com - and the leads start coming as soon as they are "live".
Be sure and use your "bio" or "resource" box to the fullest extent. They allow 3 outgoing links - use them!
Good luck!

I can see that it's pretty effective tool.
The signatures are the best ones but normally,
I try to restrict from putting more than 1 URL
inside the sig just to have Google focus on
that one URL.
Any other comments?

Articles are certainly an effective way to generate leads. The key is to write keyword optimized articles that are no more than 500 words in length.
When you look for good keywords, look for exact phrase match keywords that get less than 10,000 pages in a Google search. Any more than 10,000 and your article will not show well.
A well written article that is submitted to article directories with good page ranks and to your blog will stay for years. When you have a well designed resource box, people will click on your link because they have been reading your articles and know and trust you.

| I agree that articles are a great way to generate leads. I use a program called Article Submitter and it submits my articles to a number of directories and websites quickly and easily. I have found this program very helpful in saving me time on submitting articles and allowing me more time to do other advertising methods for my business.

I just started using http://www.aarticlesubmitter.com/ and also recommend it over Instant Article Submitter. Jon

| My question is how does a person get started with article marketing I've heard the importance of it from numerous sources. I also understand the viral aspect of it and how important that can be in your marketing efforts. I just don't know how to go about writing an article should I use plr articles and then break those articles down and compose my articles any suggestions would be appreciated.

Jaredh,
I learned from a great mentor that when you go write an article just start and it will flow. Write what you are passionate about and what you feel would add value to your readers.
If you are targeting a specific group share some knowledge that you just picked up and pass it along to readers.
There are additional sources out there if you are looking to outsource your copywriting that can assist you as well. You can hire freelancers to write for you. However, if you are writing & submitting on a regular basis this would definitely be more costly versus writing your own material.
Copywriting is key: Dan Kennedy and Joe Vitale both are great copywriters & have great books they have written about copywriting.

I tell people if they do blogs or article submitting, these are just tools to use. The fortune is in the calls. I know people are afraid of it but the fact is that is where i make money.
I use everything article submitters, autoresponders, blogs and voice broadcasting but these are just tools. I think some people think they will get automatic sign ups,i have once or twice but everytime i call the people to follow up
The fortune is in the follow up

jaredh,
Further to what Aniko said: This is a technique that professional writers use, and it is very effective.
Just start writing the first thing that comes to mind and continue doing this. Your first draft will be rubbish, but it will be done.
Now start to edit, which means start rewriting what you have so that it's clear to understand, as you come to something that's not quite right, check your facts and rewrite. If you find that you're not covering what you want to say, you can always redirect your writing. The point is by STARTING, you will achieve SOMETHING that you can edit and polish.
This is how I've written this comment. I started with just a vague idea of what I wanted to say, and then it flowed from me. I typed almost like a typist. I am not a typist, but a two-finger jockey of the keyboard.
The biggest problem in writing in our own self editing WHILE we're writing. Write first; edit second. Writing is writing, editing is editing.
If you would like more in depth help, send me a private message or email

Well put, Andreas...
I have found through trial and error that the same writing system you suggest works very well for me also...
I've actually had a few occasions where I really got on a good roll which resulted in an article that was far too long. No problem -- I just edited things a bit and wound up with 2 articles instead!
Thanks for your suggestions...
Blessings...

Greetings Kaizen,
Don't you just love the problem of too much material?
Should I make it a series, a report or a book?
And our own self-doubt as to our inability to write anything worthwhile is probably the biggest hurdle to success with articles or anything else. Writing after all is simply a matter of putting down our thoughts and ideas so that others may benefit. We all have something that can help others.
To everyone's success.

| About 9 to 10 weeks ago, I started submitting articles to directories. I have not seen any results, I was told that the results won't happen immediately, but if you are patient, you will reap the benefits. It is a good idea to start out submitting about 2 articles a week to various directories. Be sure to change the content of your articles a little because duplication can impede your progress in getting people to come to your site.

| I just want to mention Submit Your Article and a program they have patented called Article Leverage. It is unlike anything I have come across. After using them now for 3 months I encourage everyone to check them out.

Thanks Jeff. I've been using Instantarticlesubmitter lately.....works pretty well. However, I'm starting to get concerned about the things I'm hearing regarding the "duplicate content penalty".....should I be??
Best,
KMG

I'm not sure about the duplicate content penalty, but I personally try and keep all of my articles fresh. This means several fresh content articles in my blog every week and 8 different ones a month to SYA.

Thanks Jeff.....I'm doing a very similar submission/posting plan as yourself. I've recently heard from a few different sources that submitting the same articles to multiple article directories can result in a duplicate content penalty from the search engines......have you heard the same? I know my IAS software submits to over 300, so I'm a bit wary right now....
Best,
KMG

Brilliant ideas here in this forum. Keep up the good work. I believe Swimmer, that articles are great way to make your mark on the Internet. Because it establishes you as an expert. They will soon look to you as an expert. A word of caution is in order though.
Be sure your information is practical and useful to your readers. If they get the notion that you are just promoting your business and your article is not very informative you could loose readers some of which will not be back. So, make sure you have information that is comprehensive and useful.
