Articles are a great way of getting leads, as long as you have a link in your signature or bio, as long as the article is something on a general topic that has to do with network marketing and does not just come right out trying to sell them, and as long as you lead them to a splash/landing page.
You always want to make sure you get the persons Name and email, and if they will give it then you want their phone number.
Even if they end up not purchasing from you, you have their information, and a good list is worth it's weight in gold.

Nowadays, everyone thinks you are trying to sell them something, even if you aren't. That's the tough part to get around.

| That's so true, mlmdynamo! We are being "sold" every time we open our eyes. I was driving down a busy road and some guy was jumping around like crazy with a sign for a hoagie place trying to get people's attention so they'd go eat there. If you say "buy me, buy me, buy me!" in your online marketing efforts people will just move onto another page until they get the information they need. Ahhh, but when they DO find the information they need they'll leave their name and email address to get it and then you can follow up with them until they unsubscribe. As long as you give them good, quality information they'll stick around.

I have found that I get much more response and traffic from articles when I actually provide information rather than coming across as some cheesy kind of sales pitch on a product or service.
If someone is taking the time to read your artcile they are obviously interest in whatever product or service you may be marketing. Give them the information they are loking to find and use your resource box as a link for them to get further or more detailed information.

A resource box is what you usually find at the end of an article. They will contain the name of the author, a brief description of the author, a brief description of the sponsoring site and a link. If a reader likes what they read, they would have the tendency to find out where the article came from to read more. The resource bow will be their link to the source of the article and this will entice them to go to the site and do some more reading or research for the subject or topic they are interested in.
But like the article itself, the resource box must also be eye-catching to demand the attention and interest of the reader. While the resource bow encompasses only a small space, providing the right keywords and content for your resource box will provide more prodding for the reader to go to your site.
Now we know what resource boxes are, what are the benefits of having a good resource box? Mainly its driving traffic to your site. Many sites would allow articles to be placed in their sites because they can make use of the articles to fill their pages. They also get affiliation with other sites that can be beneficial for them as well. For the sponsoring site, when you get people to click on your resource box, you generate traffic that can be counted upon as potential customers.
So what would be a good content for your resource box? Basically it is keywords, learning about the proper keywords that people are mainly searching for. There are many tools you can find in the internet that can help you in determining what keywords to use.
Resource boxes can also make use of all the creativity it can get. You only get a small space for your resource box so you better make the most of it. Try to catch the attention of your reader with resource box content that can make them give a second look. Unlike TV ads, you don’t have visual aids to drive your point in. But you do have the power of imagination of a reader. With the right content, you can make them think and intrigued.
Another tip is to use keywords that should be related to your site. Do not mislead your potential website visitors. Build your credibility so that more people would get enticed to visit your site and browse what you have to offer. Make the people click your resource box by providing resource box content that makes a lasting impression. You only get one chance to wow them and hundreds of chances to repulse them.
Never underestimate the power of the resource box. It may be small in size but they will provide a significant aid in driving traffic to your site. A boring resource box will never get a job done. Be fun and creative but at the same time show that you have a great deal to offer, too much to ask for something that couldn’t fit a paragraph? Yes and no, there are many tips and guides that can help you in doing this, the first step is realizing how important a resource box could be in making people click your link and be directed to your site.

Article marketing is an awesome technique simply because it's free (for the most part) and can bring in some great exposure from all over the net. Another reason I enjoy writing articles for "traffic" purposes is because the people who eventually read them are interested in my "niche" or product. So if they do click through to my site via my author box I know I've got the right set of eyes checking out my offer.
When it comes to generating leads via article marketing though, it's important that you have a quality capture page with an offer your visitor just can't refuse. If you are writing articles to generate leads for your network marketing/direct sales business then DON'T waste your time promoting your replicated corporate website. Make sure you take the time to set up a good capture page so your article marketing efforts don't go un-rewarded.
Cheers!

Silvia,
The goal of your "Resource" or "about the author" box from a marketing standpoint is to encourage your reader to click through to your website/capture page.
Here is an example of an "about the author" text I use for articles I write about lead generation:
Josh Bradley runs the website HomeBizGalaxy.com and is the co-creator of the MyCaptureSystem.com lead generation and online marekting software. To learn more about generating your own leads check out http://www.MyCaptureSystem.com today.
A few other things you will want to keep in mind when creating your "about the author" box:
#1 - Some article directories require you to add the html code to make your link a hyperlink. Here is the basic HTML code to do this:
<a href="http://www.domain.com">http://www.yourdomain.com</a> will become http://www.yourdomain.com
You can write anything where it says http://www.yourdomain.com such as click here or read more
#2 - Don't make your "about the author" box a blatent advertisement. Instead give some background about who you are and what makes you credible on the subject. Then link back to your website. If you write a quality article, people will be interested in learning more about you.
Hope that helps...

Article writing has been shown to be an excellent, and free, method for promoting one's online business. However, many people don't understand how to correctly and effectively utilize this very powerful tool Correctly incorporating article writing into your promotion campaign can net very powerful results over a length of time; usually 30 -60 days. This is also something that needs to be understood and accepted. This method of promotion is NOT designed for IMMEDIATE results, and one should not feel frustrated if they don't see an increase in their web hits and sales after a few days of starting an article campaign.
So, how many, how how often, and what kind of articles should one write?
I think this is a question of balance of both quality and quantity. It's important to get your name out there, and volume does lend to a lot of push and effect. However, people are much more savvy, now, as to what is the meat and potatoes as opposed to the gristle and fat.
I try to set a goal of 10 articles and postings per day. This really isn't that difficult, provided you are registered with at least 5 or more forums and ezines. The most important thing to remember is WHAT and HOW you are saying something, rather than just how many times you are saying it.
By getting your messages out there is important, but it is IMPERATIVE that you also make them relevant, helpful, and interesting. That is the basic reason and goal of all the forums. By keeping those ingredients in mind you will develop a reputation of being an expert. When you earn that reputation, people will be much more open and willing to follow your lead which will, in turn, lead to a significant increase of visits to your website.
See you at the top.

One of the keys to being successful in this industry is creating as many free leads as you can. The other is being attractive. If you dont learn anything else remember attraction= success. Well written articles and blogs are great ways to get yourself on the map.
There is a little known secret that some of you may or may not know when it comes to search engines. You can test this for yourself. Pick a mlm company out of the blue. Lets call it XYZ... So you google search XYZ just like your prospect would if they were trying to find out more about the company you are trying to get them to join.
Look closely at the results. You will find that nine times out of 10 there will be more links to articles and blogs in the first page search results than there will actual reps websites.
As you know being on the first page of the search results = $$$$
Well written articles and blogs will get you there. It takes time but if your really good and you have quality content you can see yourself on the first page alot quicker than you will see your custom website or landing pages.

Article marketing is indeed a powerful strategy... in some cases. I can write an article in some niches and drive a 100 visitors to my squeeze page the day it is published and it will continue to drive traffic for a long time.
Article marketing to drive MLM leads, however, is not as effective. It is extremely saturated and does not deliver the same results you can achieve with other methods.
I'm not saying don't do it, because there are many other benefits to article marketing... SEO, potential viral marketing, establishing credibility, etc.

Yes, as a matter of fact, article writing can be a tremdous way to generate targeted traffic to your site. Once you have written a good article, you will want to publish your article at any one of many free article directories. One that I like to use is http://www.ezineaticles.com. When someone uses your article on their website or blog, they must also use your resource box and author box. This is where you will put the link to your site and get people clicking to see what you have to offer.
I hope this was helpful.

Articles are a great way to generate leads for the long term. When writing them, make sure that you include your keywords several times within the article and provide a capture page in your resource box.
Good luck,
Cathy

Articles are a great way to have a consistent amount of leads coming your way. The goal is to write great articles and on a consistent basis. I would suggest about 3 times a week for as long as it takes, ha. I look forward to reading some of your stuff.

Hi
I'm considering adding Article Marketing to my marketing strategies. Does anyone know how many articles one needs to submit to how many directories in order to start generating leads worthy of the time spent on it?

I love article marketing!
I have been able to track one article that is still high in the search engines for a certain keyword phrase that has generated me over $15k in income.
Article marketing is a form of "residual advertising" because it's always there when you do the work once.
Cheers,
Brian

Your advice is a simply as it gets, tmv! Starting IS the best place to ...er..START
A lot of people get bogged down with over-thinking things and being intimidated buy other authors out there.
The thing to remember is: everybody starts from scratch. If your first article is not award-winning stuff, keep at it. Your 50th just might be!!
Good Luck to all!
