I am looking for alternative ways of generating leads, since I am finding that purchasing leads isn't working very well for me.
Has anyone found that they can get quality leads through writing and publishing articles??

I believe that articles can generate leads depending on how you write and what you do with the resource box. You will need a way to capture the info on your site.
If you were having problems using leads before, you may need to improve your skills or get better leads.

Articles are a great way to generate leads. If you write an article that is knowledgeable and informative, and have a link to your web site in the resource box, people will click through.
Then make sure you have compatible copy on your web site, and a opt-in form for people to sign up for your newsletter.

Yes articles work, if they are written right - by that I mean, don't use the same old same old, that everyone else is using (look at some article directories and you will find plenty of examples of this).
Try to think "outside the box", dare to be slightly different and you will get noticed.

Yes, definitely, I think they're one of the best ways of obtaining leads. Make sure and provide a box for your article readers to subscribe to a newsletter of yours, so you can build a relationship with them.

Without a doubt, article writing is a superb way of getting traffic/leads...perhaps one of the best! Why? Because they've already read what you had to say and are interested.
That means you've already gotten their attention! Plus, it's a very viral method to your marketing...See, if you write a really good article, then you could potentially see it listed on hundreds of different websites! And this is a common occurrence for someone who can write something of importance.
And that means that your article AND URL are listed many, many more places than they originally were. And that, my friend, can be gold. *Just be sure that if you give reprint/sharing/posting rights that they include your URL whenever and wherever they post it!

This is true. When I check my stats I am always finding links to my site from other peoples websites or blogs. When I check out the site (or blog) sure enough my article is being used on the referring site.
Gotta love it!

As everyone has said writing and submitting good articles is an excellent source for leads. And you will get good leads if you work them correctly.
I don't know what you are doing with the leads you have now. But just emailing leads that you purchase is not very effective. Not until you do something to build a bond with them. To get them to trust you.
Just emailing your offer to them is usually going to give you poor results, unless you are an experienced copywriter.
Sorry. I'm getting a little off topic here so let me get back to article marketing.
What I suggest is concentrate on nothing but collecting their email address. Bribe them if you have to. Offer them some good information they can use and want.
Have the page your article resource box directs them to do one thng. Collect their info. Offer nothing else, no other link.
When you follow up with them via email do not even offer them what your program is. Tease them with it. Make them contact you and ask you specific questions about what you do.
Those will be the hottest leads you can get.
P.S. Don`t be afraid to write about not business subjects that interest you. Golf, baking, whatever. A home based business is generic and many people are interested at some point in time in their life.

Writing articles specific to one's niche is a great way to establish oneself as an authority in that area.
Since Article directories have high PR, a duplicate article copy means searches will display the article directory instead of the copy at your website. Its a good idea to change your article a little before posting it on your website.

After I wrote my first article I got 3 new sign ups with in a week. I was picked up write away by a few ezines. One of the directories gave me some upgraded status I can't remember what it was. But I had a great idea for an article and I just let it flow and boom! great article. Now my subsequent articles have not been as good. I have another great idea, I just have to find the time to write it.
So my advice to you would be when you get that awesome idea for a topic, write it down straight away before you forget what the idea was. Then think back to 7th grade English class and write a outline and follow it. I'm not sure you asked for advice on writing articles, but I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. 
When I follow my outline my writing comes out much more organized and well thought out. I'm a bit of a scatterbrain so if I don't do that my articles will not flow properly.

Let me just say that I have written 200 article over the past month and I have generated over $650 in new income and 10 new affiliates for my SFI business. With articles you create traffic that will never end. I can say that article marketing works very well, but you need to learn how to optimize for the search engines and where to submit or you'll never make it.

I need a solid and effective resource for articles and article submission.
I've had great results with email marketing using Rent-A-List and also ezine solo ads using a few sources and theyr'e pretty much on auto-pilot now.
So now I want to master article writing and submission. My writing skillset is really good so I know it will be fun, I just need to fine tune the process so I don't waste time or money.
Any solid info would be awesome guys and gals...

Articles are a great way to promote yourself and generate leads in the long term.
Your articles must be content rich and have the give before want attitude. in other words if you are all about pushing your mlm down somebody's throat you'll be perceived as that and articles will be a waste of time for you.
You will also need to be consistant as developing relationships takes time.

Another reminder that once you start writing articles.
Do make a conscious effort to be consistent at it.
I believe that the new year will be full of new resolutions
and many other marketers are making changes in their
own marketing techniques to accomodate for the growing
population over the internet.

Try combining your old articles into an informative, consolidated report.
Give away the report to people that opt in on your list.
This way, you leverage on your work many times over.

| Articles are a great way to drive traffic but it is a long term strategy not a short term fix. you need to have a good article submitter so you can submit to directories.
