| They didn't when I used the program. I ended up going with Article Marketer. It's a paid service but it does more of the work. There is a free trail with it too.

I use article announcer myself - http://www.articleannouncer.com/
It is a pc based application that is about 90% automated.
Once it is set up - i.e. setting up login accounts at the various article directories that require a login, it takes me about an hour to configure it for a specific article and to submit it to about 50 article directories.
It also supports announcement lists and a large number of ezines to it is not restricted to just article directories.
It also has a few neat back end features like checking the search engines to see how many places your article has been picked up, etc.

I'll admit a totally automated tool or service might be better (and it would certainly save a lot of time), the ability to work in a semi-automated manner has advantages too... For instance, I get to pick the category to submit to and they vary from directory to directory and I get to check to be sure it was submitted properly right when I'm submitting so I have the conidence in knowing it was all done right.

I'm using article marketer and it works fine for me i love it.

Take the free trial if you're wanting to try it out.
Generally, I have found it to be easy to use and its efficient.
