I've found out that the best way for a beginner to write an article is just to write it as if they were talking (minus the slang, of course).
If you've seen a tv show and someone is writing in a journal that is being narrated by the author, that's always a good place to start to get some tips.
Of course this is all for the super beginners.

A tip for developing ideas to write about in articles is...keep a pen and paper handy at all times, when you think of or read something you could write about...write it down. Put down a few notes that will help you remember the theme/goal of the article.
If you're like me, the "a ha" moments you have during the day pile up and you can use them as great ideas to write about in articles.
And remember, articles only need to be in the 300-400 word range to be effective.

| Another thing you can do with article marketing is write an article with "6 Steps to [whatever you are writing about]". Then, briefly bullet point those 6 steps. In your resource box, direct the reader to your blog or main page where you go into each step in more detail. Not only does this let the reader know that there is more information, but they also go to your blog or main page to read the rest of what you have to say.

Also this will give you more exposure you can send your prospect to your site and they can learn about you. Attraction marketing techniques. ;-) let them see who you are and what you know and care about etc…
So a blog can be a hub for all your articles and you can also generate traffic with a blog.

Thanks Jay, that's some awsome information.
Where did you get it?
One of my struggles when writing articles is to know what people want to know or simply what topics are worth writing about. Do you know about some method to check what topics are "hot" and thus worth writing about?

Hello everybody
My biggest struggle when writing articles is to know what people want to know or what topics are hot and thus worth writing about?
Do you use any special method other than braistorming to choose your article subject?
What do you do to accurately know what people are searching for so you can write articles that will get lots of atention?
Thanks for the help
Best Regards
Nicola Silva

Finding a topic can be hard but just start somewere, Some examples are the best xyz, also X ways to do xyz , like 10 ways to get leads. also you can use current events. Write your take on a important issue and then link it to your business site.
Remeber the why! why are you doing articles to get traffic. but the technique you are using is attraction marketing whern you talk about somthing that interest you others that like the same thing or feel the same will be attracted to you and visit your site business.
and they are the easiest to convert because they feel like they know you.
so have fun with it.

To see what is getting the most traffic online do a keyword search. Pick a topic (lead generation for example) ... then use one of the many key word tools available.
I won't suggest one because there are lots to choose from. Google Analytics for example. Just Google Key Word Search or Key Word Tool and see what pops up.

Michael

| Look out for what the latest trends are by looking around on forums, Yahoo Answers, eBay, Google Trends or Amazon. You can find out a lot about what people are looking for and also get ideas about articles to write about.

Hello Nicola:
To follow-up on FreedomFire's response, once you have the keywords from your niche, you should be able to generate articles from those to get you started. The articles will be informative and related to your market. Afterwards, additional ideas will show up for you to write additional articles. The keyword list should be good for at least 20 articles alone.
Hope this helps.

Nicola,
I'm not sure if you mean how to find topics in general that people are interested in or topics related to your niche. If you want to find topics in general that people are interested in, here's a tip. Go to the free tool at keyworddiscovery or wordtracker and enter the words "how to" or "advice on". Just those words.
You will get a ranked list of the most searched phrase combinations with those words in them.
Warning: you will discover some things about the world that you may not want to know. A large number of the searches are not G-rated!
But it will tell you what people who are using the internet want to know. The list of potential articles is huge.
Dave

I agree that it is important to target your audience. For example, if you are writing an article about how to begin a home business then you would not be targeting those who already are MLMers.
On the other hand, if your aim is to network with other marketers and get them on board with your company then you would be targeting an entirely different group of people.
Key word searches and finding e-zines, etc. are important ways to market. I found a particularly good which offers free advice on advertising and target marketing (I have the link bookmarked, but can't seem to link it so if you want the address feel free to get in touch with me via e-mail). I highly recommend checking it out -- it worked for me withing 24 hours...

I used this method for a few years...
Go to your local book store and go through all the business magazines articles.
Now you dont want to steal it, but if you find a good article on sales or marketing or anything business related, just convert it in your own words to fit the message your trying to convey...
After a while your own content will flow much easier...
Peace,
