I have a true desire to write articles. I know the guidelines to writing one, and everything. One guideline says that my work must be original. I truly understand that.

But I want to know if one could do research on a topic.. take notes, paraphrase, and still be within the guidelines of having an "original" work?

I DO NOT want to be accused of plagarism. ALL answers will be appreciated.

THANK YOU!!! :)

By all means take notes, paraphrase, but use your own words in the final product.  Just be sure not to copy anything word for word.  If you need to in the context of the article....always be sure to acknowledge the original author/source.

Such as .... per so and so in article/book (put a link here) "blah blah blah".

God Bless,

Michael

It's fine if you do that, just make sure you acknowledge where you got the information from. Also use your own words. If you acknowledge your sources there shouldn't be any problem with it.

Your articles dont need to be 100% your work, if that was the case then article marketing would be a lot harder.

So I say go ahead and do it, just make sure you acknowledge them or you might get accused of many different things.

Reading exisiting articles is a great way to get ideas. Re-writing articles is o.k. as long as you put it into your own words. Google search the "30 Minute Article Writer" by Melanie Mendelson and pick up a copy. It is a great book on article writing made easy.

It sounds like you are not doing anything wrong by re-writing the article as long as you are incorporating your own ideas.

As has been mentioned, getting ideas from previously written articles will help to get your creativity flowing.

Why not take one idea from the article that you have read and brainstorm for other ideas that might expand or compliment on what the author was trying to say.

Also look for ideas the author did not make clearly and write an article with your own ideas that explains their idea more clearly.

Article writing becomes easier the more you do it.

ofcourse, as long as you are writing from your mind based on your research, you are perfectly in other. You can write and no one will accuse you of duplicate content. What the search engine actually need for top ranking is fresh contents that are unique and valuable.

When I first started my Network Marketing journey, I wondered what in the world I would write about.  So to help me get started, I checked out (from the library) every Network Marketing/MLM book I could get my hands on.

When I needed some new ideas, I would randomly open a book read that page, take notes and then begin writing in my own words on the same subject.

I still go back to notes from e-books and other stuff I read on a daily basis.  It's true.  Leaders are readers.

There are many different Plagiarism Detectors on the Internet that I find helpful too.  Just Google "article checkers" and such and you will find them.

Many phrases WILL be the same because how many different ways can you say:  "California is on the west coast".

Not that many.

The definition of Palgiarism (sp) is copying word for word, using NO originality, and NOT giving credit to your source. Now, unless you posess all wisdom and all knowledge, and need no one to teach you anything about anything, it is impossible to write an article that does not use or quote another author's work. Just write what you can in your own words, acknowledge direct quotes as such and give credit to the original author, and you will be fine. No kid who ever wrote a book report or did a research paper in school ever knew all there was to know about the book or topic of thier report. If they did, it would not be called research! LOL!

Agreed.  Doing proper research is how we all got started with writing essays in grade school.

Unless you are an expert and can pontificate things, by all means, do your research and use quotes and referrences if necessary.

Once you understand the topic enough, you'll be ready to right an article about it...you don't need to write a novel...just around 300 words.

Good luck and happy prospecting!
