Looking through the universe of online affiliate marketing, you’ll notice that most sites fall into two categories. There are sites that simply have a list of links to other sites that sell products. You’ll notice that these sites come up often in web searches on Google or Yahoo, but they don’t seem very useful since all they have is other links and no actual content of their own.
The other kind of affiliate site is the kind that you want. It is a site that has all the same links that the others do, but it also has content. Now, what does “content” mean, anyway? Content is simply an internet term that means articles or information on a web page. Why do affiliate sites that use content work better than those that don’t? It’s simple.
If you click on a site, say, a site about growing roses, which would you rather find? A list of links that you have no idea if they are any good or not or if they even link to a reputable company? Or an informative, well-written article about growing roses that has a link at the bottom for a company that, while you still don’t know if they are trustworthy or not, the person who wrote this content thinks so and they sure sound like they know what they are talking about. Which one do you think does better sales every month? Exactly. The site that uses articles.
This is the number one reason why you should be knowledgeable about the products you wish to sell. It will be a million times easier to write content that sounds like it was written by an expert if you know your way around your product. If a web surfer stumbles upon your site, finds your articles well-written, informative and fun and then sees a link to buy a product related to the article, your chances of making money off of that customer go up 100 times. The big secret to affiliate marketing isn’t a magic formula or miracle catchphrase. It’s well-written content.
There are even companies out there that will write content for you, for a small fee. It may seem like a silly thing to invest in on the surface, but once you see the hard numbers that show how much better affiliate sites do with content then without, you’ll be on board in no time flat.

I always use the phrase Content is King. It is so true. Provide value. Provide solutions. Build relationships. You can monetize your marketing efforts along the way. But you must make sure you are providing solutions first.

Pre-selling is the key to affiliate marketing. Writing good content about a product certainly gives you a leg up on every other affiliate just using the replicated website that comes with the product.

Article marketing is a great way to brand yourself. I think it is important to write not only about our product, but on other subjects as well. The more you can brand yourself as an expert in your subject, the better.
Also for good exposure nothing can beat Ezine Articles. This is one directory you should not miss. Google loves them. I have had many articles on the first page. Not bad and all for free.

| The last article that I submitted to Ezine Articles was picked up by a site and posted there without my resource box. Therefore, Ezine Articles is rejecting it because they say it is posted elsewhere by another author. Actually, the site doesn't give anyone credit for writing the article. They just posted it on their site. I tried finding the site owner's contact info thru Who Is, but the contact info is not there. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey there! Just wanted to add, make extra sure that if you post to Ezine Articles, that you make sure to spell check and have perfect punctuation or they WILL Reject your article. I know, they rejected one of mine!
They have a superior quality control system.
Hope that helps!

Hmmm...where did the other site get the article from? Ezinearticles, as do some others, always want to be the first in line when you submit an article. If they find it posted anywhere else it will get rejected for that reason alone.
Do you mean that it was already posted on EA and later rejected?

Hey. I do believe content is king because the more content you have out there, the more visitors you will eventually get.
But also, remember that creating a KEYWORD FOCUSED ARTICLE will bring you even mass amounts of traffic that are targeted towards what ever niche you desire.
Take care

Agreed. However, I would take it a step further and say that "QUALITY" content is king. LOL. Way too much crap out there being passed off as content ya know?
I would also say that the article should be focused on the LONG TALE KEYWORD. You're right it can bring in some great, targeted traffic if you write your article correctly.

| I agree Article marketing is a great way to drive traffic and Ezine is a good vehicle to use. I hardly discuss my product or business in my articles. I focus on offering value to readers in the form of tips, advice and information on internet marketing and self development. My belief is that once they will feel more inclined to visit my site if I do not try to direct them to it or sell. I believe in free will and it seems to be working for me.

Content is always king. People online are looking solely for good content. I personally can sniff the b.s. content from the good content. I'm sure millions of others can also. People always come back to good content.

Agreed Content is King. But a lot of people recycle adding value along the way, so the newer articles have better subject matter.
So not only is it necessary that you post the article, but after a suitable amount of time when you examine other sites you need to upgrade your own content.

I totally agree with you. If you provide content you will build a list of followers, as opposed to just providing links to another website. Providing value is very important. You will be seen as someone who cares, and an expert in that field.

That phrase, Content Is King is very important. I never like to see and article, site, video, post or anything that is just a puff piece of content. I find that I loose respect and do not care about what they are talking about. If it is about a product, I know that I do not buy from them. I would rather go else where.
I also know I am not the only one that thinks like this. So put out quality content. People will respect you for it and will more likly take action and buy the product that you are promoting in the end.

The main thing with article marketing is to ensure that you don't get over-focussed on the SEO elements and under-focussed on your customers.
Articles do need to be optimized but this needs to be done subtly and should not detract from you creating high quality articles that are of benefit in their own right.
Google have it spon on in their quality control guidelines when they state the following:
Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
