When I got started in my first MLM my sponsor told me to make a list of all my firend. Why would he not ask me to do this since his smallest check was $9,000 his first month and he did not start out as a guru he was a lwnmower.

Guess what it did not work for me. He even told me I had to worst warm market he had ever meet. He did not say this to be rude he said this to get me to use my mind to find a different way a different than what worked for him.

Warm market almost starts us out to fail. Look at the number the average person can only come up with 10 names. They say only 3% will join if we come up with 100 3 will out of 10  as you can see we are doomed right from the start.

Warm market can work great if your warm market consists of people who are in your target market who have already expressed an interest in buying what you are selling, in this case network marketers.  But for most of us this is not the case.  It's the same as if you were selling anything else.  If you were selling cigars and your warm market were cigar smokers your warm market would be an excellent target.  But if they are not cigar smokers trying to convert them would be a waste of time.

Warm markets are a good starting point to practice on. NOt usually the ones that will be big stars or even join you however, they can lead you to others, thru thru people they know, so nver rule them entirely out.

Very True!

I have people in my business that came from my warm market but they were people who I meet through business and respected me as a business person.

My real true buds the ones we have been friends with since high school well not so much. I normally still do talk with them but is all I have them to is look at my website.

I tell them I launched a new website and if they could look at it and tell me any improvements we could make.

*If they like it they will come see me
*If they dont the issue will never come back up

In many cases though they have asked me about my product.

Warm market can work, but the problem with warm market is you have to overcome the main objection people have with you:  They know all about you and your history.

This can be a good thing because if they know you are responsible and looking for a way to help them, then they are more apt to listen to you.

If, on the other hand, you are known as a scammer, then warm market is not the best place to be.

The other problem with warm market is that if your warm market fails, they will blame you no matter what.  This is the main reason why I do not even talk to my warm market, they must ask me and then I interview them just like I do with all of my prospects.

When I got started in warm market my sponsor told me about trust and respent your firends will trust you but they will not respect you as a business person that is why they have to see someone other than you.

Best wishes on you business

Here is the thing.  Different things work for different people.  Some people are gifted and are able to work their warm market.  Others not so much.

The advantage of bringing your MLM online is that you can get an endless list of prospects if you ever master it.

My thought is once you hit your warm market you become part of the

NFL , no not the National football league, but the No Friends Left club..

At first you will be tempted to use your warm market and bless you, but dont keep pushing your warm market..

I beleive the best leads are the leads that come to you. I never cold call, or talk to my warm market without them first asking me.
Once they make the comitment to contact you, it shows more there interest . they no longer think you are trying to sell them.

A 3% conversion rate would be good no matter what approach you're using! Websites, traffic exchanges, direct mail, drop cards, and all the rest rarely result in more than 1% conversions.

That said, I avoid my warm market unless I hear from someone who is specifically interested in a home-based business or a product I sell. It's true that your family doesn't see you as a business person. Afterall, they still have memories of you running around in your Underoo's playing Superman! (hopefully when you were a child.)

Tim,

You don't pretend your superman no more :)

Lol, i agree obviously if you hear of someone complaining or wanting to change there status, it is time to explain what you do and try and bring them in but it is a different approach than your cold market .

I personally don't focus too much on warm market, because it suggests a mentality of treating everyone like a "prospect".  Not everyone is a prospect - and if they are, they need to take some action to show me they are a qualified prospect.

For example, both myself and my partner have been able to give up our careers to go full-time with network marketing, and some of our relatives and friends have still not shown an interest in what we do.  They know the salaries we were able to walk away from and they know that our success comes from helping other people become successful, but they haven't asked for any information.

So, do I waste my time trying to convince them that this is the absolute best thing that could ever happen to them... when their every action tells me they don't have the interest?  That makes no sense to me.

Sure, let your warm market know what you're doing, even have a chat with them and explain it so if they know anyone interested they can refer them to you, but don't fall into the trap of thinking every person you ever meet is worth spending your time treating as a prospect.

Let your actions speak louder than your words... Start making money, get them curious to what you do and then bring them in..

Example, my neighbours asked me once, what do you do? They were curious because i never left home on a regular basis.. 8-4 of whatver... so it opened the door.

Close family, will only trust you if you can teach them the way to success or even do it for them.

I noticed this with my warm market... however none of them are very business minded.
I guess if the people in your family are business oriented it helps.

I would say to stay away from your warm market....

why? It's simple. Because your friends and family will become attracted when they SEE RESULTS. If they don't see the green in your pockets they are most likely just going to think you are in some "other thing" and not take you serious.

Trust me...it is a sucky feeling.

The good thing is the internet has changed the game!

Warm market is just not a place to build your sale team yea maybe sell your product but that is probably it. Even when you are making good money they still will not join you becuase of pride. I have had people say now lets see how long it will last.

Warm market is still a great starting point from what we have seen. I have seen many people explode starting there but you can't stay there. You should only pitch your warm market once and thoses that have interest will come and those that don't won't

If you look at all the billion dollar MLM companies, they all have 1 thing in common: they all have a distributor force that talks to warm markets and do meetings. I haven't seen a company make it to the billion mark by not teaching the warm market and meetings.

Maybe oneday that will happen but I won't hold my breath!

There is power in the warm market and meetings whther some people choose to do that. I believe that you should do it all noy just meeting people in persona nd not just using the net but ALL of the above to make your business work.

With my warm market I used a 'viral inviter' which pulls all of my friends emails for me and sends them a very professional invitation by email with a link about my opportunity.

That way they fill no pressure if they are not interested and yet they can still get information about what I am doing and how it works.

If they see the webpage and like what the opportunity offers, great they contact me, if they are not interested, not big deal I will not offer it again to them.

The important things is I did not burn any bridges with my friends and family and they know what I am into, encase they are interested down the road.

I think it depends on your warm market.  Friends and family find it too easy to say no.  The best warm market segment that I have found is on the job.

Take a part time or full time job at a telemarketing company where the turn over is high.  Most telemarketing call centers have about a 40% turnover.  This is not always because of the employees.  It's usually because of the company culture, standards and quotas that result in terminations.

Every time some one is hired, introduce yourself and build a relationship. Eventually , tell them about your opportunity.  You will get about 2-5 people to join your business every 1-3 months.  It works!

The Warm Market can and does work for some, but much more effective is using an actual marketing strategy to reach out on the Internet.  Finding people who are actually looking for what your product or business has to offer and getting in front of them.

ditto on what Kurt said, forget your friends and family most
of them are just going to waste your time and get
your hopes up.

Its the best feeling to have people come to YOU, trust me.
I can just remember the days when I went into the mall
and stopped people to asking them:

"Are you looking to make more money from home?"

I felt like such an idiot, but I kept doing it. Those
tactics of old school prospecting are annoying.

Learn online marketing you'll be better off.

I think most MLMs still teach the old school method of friends and family.  For some reps it's effective.... and  I think one of the reasons why it's still taught is because it CAN be the fastest way to build.

I know some networkers who are six figure income earners and all they have done is warm market.  However it doesnt work out for everyone, and a new and excited rep can get discouraged fast if their friends are saying no.  We shouldn't take it personally but most of us do.

The best thing we can do for a new rep is ask them how the want to build.  If they want to talk to people they know first.... we should help them with that.  If they want to learn how to build online..... get them trained on that.

The one thing about the internet is there is a learning curve and it takes some time and patience.  We shouldn't expect great results for the first several weeks if not more, depending on a person's skill level and how much content they get out and how fast.  It's not the fastest way to build, but it can be very rewarding.  Learning how to generate leads and build a list of people who come to you is a great thing.  Those people have already expressed an interest in your product and/or business.  They are the best leads to have.  Some will even sign up before you have a chance to talk to them.

So I much prefer the internet, but would never say warm market doesnt work, because I know people personally who have proven that to be wrong.

But it's important to start a new rep off in the manner in which they want to build.

Joanne
