Freedom,
I think that spelling this out would be a great help to newbies. Yes, some people just don't care. I an understand that. Yet, I know I advertise on my website free marketing tools that I have come across on the internet. I think it saves people some serious work. And, in addition, there are people out here who are looking at business opportunities that work (boy did I wish I would have done it like that) instead of just rushing out there and getting with the first get rich scheme that was offered to them. I feel that these forums still are for the exchange of information. I know I would like to hear about it. If it good enough, I'll post it on my site for my viewers, with some kindof joint venture payoff, of course. Yet, I really come here to get my hands on new ways to make the most of free advertising. The reality is, I lost too much money on paid advertising. And with free advertising, in the end, all I lost was time. And when you have a choice between time and money or just time, I'll pick the time factor anyday. Then again, I guess I am still young enough to say that. Am I getting the wrong idea or do you think that is promotion?

Freedom,
Is that in respose to my previous post? If so, I do apologize, because I thought questions would be answered.

iquit4me,
Nope ... not in rsponse to your post. I'm not even sure what you are asking. If you're looking for "spelling it out" I can't really get any clearer than what's already said throughout this thread....plus in the forum registration page.
My post was in reaction to constant spamming lately. Just VERY tired of the idiots who insist on blatant advertising.
Bottom line .... you spam, you and your posts are gone.
God Bless,
Michael

Freedom,
Glad to see your last post. Actually explained what I needed to know in the beginning. Once I read it thoroughly. Yes, I guess spamming isn't what I participate in either. I think that it is just abut exchanging ideas. What I would like to know is this? I received a private message today asking me about my current business opportunities - now I know when someone is trying to get me on their bandwagon. That would be someone who is. How do I prevent that from happening and is that spamming that is reportable?

IQUIT4ME,
If someone sent you a PM thru this Forum soliciting you in any way ... blatant spam, trolling, phishing, reverse recruiting, etc. .... forward that PM to me (via PM) and I'll take care of it. I need to see what their Member name is and what they said to you.
And NO ... that type of behavior is not allowed. The member is banned as if they posted an ad here.
Bottom line .... don't send anything of that nature to any member you don't know and/or who didn't ask for it.
God Bless,
Michael

Michael,
First off I agree that the forums are a place to learn others' experiences and what is working. I do say though that I would have to disagree that a biz op should not be mentioned. Here is why:
There are new companies starting everyday. Anyone that knows anything about networking knows that the faster you signup the more people that will end up beneath you before the market saturates. I have been fortunate to get involved with 3 companies in thier early years and as a result was able to make a substantial income. I think that by introducing the bizop to others in the industry you not only are offering a mutually beneficial opportunity, but you are also flooding your business with experience.
I also feel that people that are already doing the work are the same ones that I want in my downline. This works people. Why train every single person in your downline, when you can get people already doing it and teach them the program that you are introducing?
Michael, like I said I do agree that the forums is a place to talk about experiences and what NOT to do. I do not think that flooding the forums with ads is the right way to go, but maybe if there was a place in the forum where you could place the business and what they are about then only the people that want to search for another opportunity would search there.
At any rate it is not my forum to run, I have had plenty in my time. I am just offering my two cents. From the constant threat of being banned that I see in this site, this could very well be my last post (before I get banned)
Regards,
Mike

Mike,
Good points ..... and well taken. I think we're talking apples and oranges here.
You can mention a company .... and discuss it a bit. As long as there are no links and no soliciatory "invitations". In other words .... no spam and no trolling for reps or sales in any of the discussion boards.
But .... the best way to "attract" in a forum is to be a contributor and brand yourself. Then those attracted to "you" will click on your sig links. THAT is where you can have a company, service, or product link. That is the culture of our Forum here.
Also ... please note that there are company specific discussion boards in the Forum. The same rules apply in those about advertising .... but there a bit more leeway on what you share about products, services, news, events, etc. Those boards are the "compromise".
Hope that clarifys a bit.
God Bless,
Michael

I do have a question though. I am involved in a new company that is not among the list. Is it possible to get a new category put in?

I don't know that I can add any more to this great topic but I will try.
When I was brand new to mlm, network marketing, or what ever flavor you choose I did not know any better.
I didn't post spam accross the web only because I did not like it myself but I did not have the right kind of leadership to point me in the direction.
I agree that most people either do not know any better or are just lazy. If they ever bothered to track their post they would find that they were wasting their time and move on to other advertising methods.
If most people thought about it they would see that advertising a affiliate link to a blind list is usually not the right answer. They were never taught to get an AR and start building their list.
Don't get me wrong there times when you may want to advertise the affiliate link but not usually.
sorry, I'm getting off topic a bit.
Have a great new year,

If they dont who cares if they get banned,
this is our home. People should act accordingly

As A moderator of one of the company forums here I'm a little luckier than Michael as I don't have quite the volume of spam and such to put up with. I probably have more PM spam than forum spam but it is a pain none the less. I have moderated other entire forums and it's not as easy to draw a line in the sand as some folks think.
I hate to see a hard line have to be taken but some people don't catch on no matter how diplomatic you are. Then there are the drive-by spammers who never have any intention of reading a reply. Be that as it may, here and elsewhere, I try to give the violator a courteous heads up unless it's obvious what their up to. You hope they see, appreciate and learn from it but most times it's an effort in futility. Still I did what I could and leave it at that.
I see others that rip the poster to shreds or mock them. They think it's funny and the regulars wil get a kick out of it. Poor thinnking on their part as there are far more lurkers than regular posters and the harsh critic has made themselves just as unprofessional as the spammer has.
Members of a virtual community should take ownership in it just like they do their home town. If you want to join the community then learn the rules. A little common sense wouldn't hurt either. If you moved into a new neighborhood would you walk right into your neighbor's house, Kick your shoes off, light up a smoke and talk about how you're going to revolutionize the neighborhood? Would you pop inside a nearby church and begin telling the congregation about the church next door that has more effective prayer and guarantees you a top seat in the kingdom of heaven?
Of course not. So why would you expect it to be permitted in your virtual community.
Make it a great 2008!

I have to say I agree, This is your home and people should rispect that, but new
commers are like babies and do not know the rules so they desurve to be respected
too and not made to feel rejected!

Is it cool if I link to this thread from my blog or my website? I'm not sure how to do it though.

I totally agree! I cannot stand it when I am trying to learn more about marketing and other people's successes and then all the sudden it turns into an ad.
If people here in the forum wanted to learn more about other bizops, they would be surfing the net for other businesses.

The rules of the forum are clear. Follow them and you'll enjoy your experience here. Don't follow them and you'll be gone.
We are not like other forums out there. And that's a VERY good thing.
God Bless,
Michael
