Had this site refered to me on Ryze.com. You can set up advertising for your business in up to 5 locations for free. Your business is then searchable by others needing that "service or product". Sort of like an online yellow pages I guess.

Here's a really cheap way to get 200 exposures. I still use this old fashioned technique and will get you some exercise.
Make an ad on a standing sheet of paper.
Run to a print center and run off 200 copies, about $10.00. Use yellow colored paper, not white.
Then go to any Apartment Complex and slide it under each door, either in the morning or after 6pm.
That's it, its grunt work but its cheap and easy to do when you don't have much money.......

Article marketing is another way to market your website and business. It takes a while to learn how to do it corretly. Once it is done correctly, you can get your articles listed on the first page of Google.
Article marketing in your niche is also a great way to brand yourself as an expert in internet marketing and network marketing.

Thanks for all this interesting information.
Ive to sort it out what can work in the Netherlands.
Every Dutch people are very very sceptical about MLM concepts.
So this it is hard to do, to find some potential leads and sign-ups.
Dutch people are lazy and they like to work for a boss
I dont, so I wont give up.
Maybe someone else has some great ideas for the Dutch people???

| Hi, Thanks for the tip on printing out flyers and going around and putting them in mailboxes and under peoples doors, I am currently advertising on google etc, however this is another method that is not costly and may just prove to work! thanks for the advice! will give it a go!

| Maybe even just going for a walk around your area and putting some flyers in peoples mailboxes? Would this be useful? Most people will probably throw the flyer away..but you may get one or two people that are interested!

I JUST finished welcoming you in your 'I'm new' thread!
GREAT that you're moving around the forum and asking questions.
There are many ways to advertise using the internet. The methods you use will depend on 3 main things:
1. Your personality and preferences
2. Your budget
3. The amount of time you have
Generally, it's always a trade-off between time/money.
Some easier methods I recommend for persons new to advertising on the internet include:
1. Squidoo lensmaking. This is an EASY way to get your site ranking high for the keywords, keyword phrases relevant to your site. Do the keyword research mentioned below, put it in your title. Chose the most relevant category.
Put your keyword/phrase in EVERY module you build for your lenses and put it in every paragraph. Do about 4 modules, talking about your site, what it offers.. anything that comes into your head relevant to your site.
Squidoo is greatttt for creative, social marketing and SearchEngineOptimisation. Then visit other lenses, especially those relevant to your subject. Say something intelligent, encouraging about the person's lens that shows that you actually read/viewed it, then add your own lens, hyperlinked:
<*a href="yoursquidoolensurl">Your keyword/phrase</a>
(take out the *.. I put it there so u could see the code.)
2. Social marketing. GREAT for traffic, building your warm market, branding, list building. Join relevant, interesting groups. Converse, don't just advertise. Build your contact list. Post regularly in groups, blogs and on your own blog AT Apsense when you're ready. I just either post on my blog and add to my Apsense blog with a few changes in title, greeting or vice versa. USE your content manyyyy times, including for article marketing below.

3. Social Bookmarking:
I mostly use Twitter, Technorati and a few others but I'll give you links for the first two because they're easy to set up:

Use Twitter to add friends and get your url added to the search engines quickly. Then each day or so, post a little something about what you're doing, etc... and sometimes drop in your url ....
Use Technorati to add any blog you like to your favourites after you join as a free member. Visit other people's blogs that you LIKE and join in the conversation... always add something that's relevant. Then add your site url below your name.
NB: I find Jaiku to be a cross between both social bookmarking and social networking. You can comment on other people's posts, post yourself (similar to twitter), add your rss urls... I LOVE Jaiku!!!

4. Blogging
For a beginner, I always suggest Blogger.com as it's free and set up is really easy... 1-2-3.
Make sure you enable comments, but use the moderate function to decrease spamming. Add your blog rss feed to feedburner to increase traffic to your blog and fill out your member profile on blogger, adding your website url to it and your pic.
Post 2-3 times/week in your blog to get the search engine spiders visiting regularly and ALWAYS add your link after your sig and try to work it into most of your posts. If your post isn't remotely about anything related to your site, your sig link will do the job.
ALWAYS use keyworded titles for your blog post. I don't care if you're talking about tarantula spiders, do the extra little bit of work to find great keywords for that topic that don't have tooooooo many search results matching the keyword or keyword phrase when you put it in quotes and search Google or Yahoo...
Then use the same keyword/phrase a few times in your post. This gets all kinds of persons visiting your blog and the more people you have reading your blog, the more people you'll have visiting your site.

I used to use the second one a lot, still do for a guide every now and then but now use the first every day.
5. Forum Marketing. Easy! Do what you're doing here... join in the conversation, ask intelligent questions, fill out your profile and add your links
6. Article Marketing This is simple but often a lot of people don't feel they have anything sensible to write. You do! ;-) To prepare for this, I'd suggest you hang out on Christopher Knight's EXELLENT blog at EzineArticles.com where he is CONSTANTLY giving GREAT, AWESOME article-writing, business-building advice. He has a great ebook/course.. if you can get it, do.
Be careful of article writing software but I do have an excellent article spinner that I recommend.... just YIM me and I'll get you that link.
Summary:
Take your time and master one method and use it consistently instead of trying tooo many and getting overwhelmed.
Consistency, daily advertising is what will expand your web presence over time.

Here's another "creative" method of marketing that will take some effort on your part....but no cash outlay.
Volunteer as a speaker for various business, educational, or other organizations.
Groups like your local Chamber Of Commerce, PTA, Garden Club, Hunt Club, Single Parents, Home Owner's Association, VFW, etc. hold meetings where they frequently need speakers. Do some research and find out all such groups in your area then contact them to volunteer your services as a speaker.
You'll have to do some work to prepare a talk pertinent in subject matter to their interest ... of course. But the event itself as well as the contacts you'll make create a great networking opportunity for you.
People will be curious about what you do. The host will obviously introduce you before you speak and include a little about "who you are". Just make friends and share as appropriate when appropriate.
This is more about branding yourself in the community and reaching large groups while doing it.
An added benefit of this method is the opportunity to hone your presentation/communication skills and practice simple networking.

I have been the organizer for enterpreneur and work at home meetup groups for two years and have built a very large and responsive network.
