One great and cheap way I found was to use E-Bay which allowed me to basically put an advertisement up for 7 days and pay only 20 cents - WOW.

I use their free TurboLister tool, set up auctions and do a power post. This has brought me really good leads.

This is a great thread with some great tips. Here are a few more no cost ways of promotion:

1) Print some simple ads from your computer, get them photocopied for as cheap as possible, then post them in bus shelters.

2) Use those same ads from above and go door-2-door with them, or alternatively you can get some locals to do it for you for a small price.

3) Write a really informative and tip filled article and submit it to as many article hubs as possible. This way it increases the chance of ezine publishers to pick up your article and get even more exposure.

4) Post to free classified ad sites.  There are many, but the key here is consistancy. If you can consistantly post to free classified ad sites your ad will be seen.

5) Safelists is another route to go. Many people do say that safelist advertising isn't effective, but it can be if you post consistantly to the same safelists. join 5 - 10 safelists and everyday for a month post the same ad and you will see that you will get some traffic from safelists.

There are many more free ways to promote  your business or website. These are just a few.

The best form of advertising is word of mouth advertising.

With all the emphasis on online marketing, most people are probably forgetting one of the most powerful means of advertising available.

I'm talking about classified advertising in newspapers. Most people are aware of what you have to do to place an ad in a daily or weekly newspaper, but did you know there are companies that will place your ad in literally hundreds of papers with circulation's in the millions for pennies per ad? Instead of paying the ridiculously high ad rates newspapers charge for a single classified, you can get that very same ad placed in hundreds of newspapers for pennies. Usually about $0.20-$0.30 per ad.

Another good thing is that many of these newspapers will accept business opportunity ads too. Below is a list of a few companies you can contact or visit their web sites and see the prices of their advertising packages. Think about it, one ad that draws a response rate of .05%, that's 1/2 of 1 percent, on a circulation of 4 million can bring in $10,000-$20,000 in a very short period of time. Your cost for this type of ad. About $250-$450. These companies also offer less expensive packages if you just want to test an ad. But this type of advertising works. You can post your URL in the ad and still sell from your website.

Maybe you've never given much thought to this type of advertising related to your online business. Maybe none of your programs ever discussed this with you. Maybe they just don't know about it. But now you have a very powerful means of getting your message out that can earn substantial profit on your investment.

Here are some fine companies you can contact to see what kind of advertising packages they offer.

Nationwide Classifieds
http://www.nationwideclassifieds.com/

Discount National Newspaper Advertising
http://www.advertisingresults.com/

You can also find great packages through state or regional press associations. Each state or region has press associations which consist of a group of newspapers. You can do a search at any search engine for 'press association' and find this information. Many will even help you with your ad.

[Note:  personally I don't do bizop advertising with this...although I know some do and have had success.  I've used it for products/services and it worked for me.  For you....don't know.  Likely vary by what you're offering and how well you target your market.]

God Bless,
Michael

Great idea Michael. I actually went to a seminar in Austin back in August and heard Matt Bacak speak.

I didn't like everything he had to say (like how his goal was to squeeze every penny he could from people by continuously bumping them up to higher-priced products), but if I came away with something of value, it was an understanding of just how much traffic and sales he's driven with articles and press releases he's written.

$ Millions...

I'm actually considering coming up with about 50 good topics related to my business and getting a freelance writer off of guru.com to write them and submit them to article directories for me.

Some of them work for peanuts... probably a much better ROI on this than it would be to do PPC or other paid advertising, and would generate traffic MUCH longer term.

Any thoughts on that idea?

Todd, I was actually planning on trying this. Could you send me a link to something you've used successfully on eBay? bram@totallyhandsfree.com

I'd love to do this asap, but haven't tried it before and would love to get some tips from you before doing it since you've probably already figured out kind of what works and what doesn't ;-)

I'd appreciate it!

Here is another highly effective marketing strategy for your MLM business.

Do Free or Low-Cost Seminars and Workshops........

If your products or service are made up so providing information and explanation would enhance sales, you might consider providing special meetings, workshops, or seminars where you can share relevant materials and product knowledge with existing or potential customers. This effort would generate additional sales dollars.

Nowadays, free tele-seminars and webinars (online video/audio seminars) are pretty popular. At the end of your tele-seminar/webinar, you can share with participants the benefit of your product or service .... as well as your offer along with a great bonus if they take action right away.

Now the premise here is to lead with your product/service.  Usually more effective with this approach.  You could of course cover your business opportunity instead .... but be aware the conversions usually are less.  Leading with product first ..... using this approach ..... has a higher conversion rate.  It will also create loyal customers who are more likely to become loyal business builders based on that experience.

God Bless,
Michael

I'd love to add juts how powerful this method is Michael. A friend and I recently held two 45 minute teleseminars to a list of people we generated via web form with JUST free advertising sources, and did $31,350 in sales in a week.

Powerful stuff for sure, and you don't even have to be good at it. You just have to be genuine and confident in what you're saying.

I use instantteleseminar.com. Awesome service. I highly recommend them. It was my first crack at teleseminars and was a breeze to do.

Needless to say, I'll be doing A LOT more of them ;-)

Here are some things that may or may not work for you:

1) If you'd like to get a table at a trade show, try calling last minute. They often will discount the tables significantly to fill the show. You may not get in the publication, but you'll still get plenty of traffic and opportunity to network.

2) So you don't want to work a table, then how about paying $15 or less and actually working the vendors? They don't know if you've got a table or not and you can go and network with the vendors at the show. I just did that this morning and walked away with a few good leads.

3) Craigslist...This is a gamble and I do it when I'm bored.  But maybe once a week or two I'll post a few product ads.

4) Cold calling is still an option for all of us. I actually got a great lead one day when I was bored and so I know it works. You've got to be in the right spirit to cold call, but if you are, just think what kind of results you might get if you spoke with 10 people. Work your way through no's til you hit a yes. You've got to catch their interest quickly and you have to have a personable phone presence.

5) Okay, last idea for the evening...Go to BNI (http://www.bni.com) as a guest. You can attend each BNI meeting up to twice as a guest. It will cost you the price of breakfast or lunch, but it's a great opportunity to network.

God Bless,
Michael

There is so much info on this post I will have to take time to read each and every entry. I do agree articles are a great way to advertise for free. I am an author and a coach, yet when getting the articles to grab someones attention and do it right, the thought proccess is a little different.

I want to thank everyone for the information you have served me with. I think if we are serving others to help them succeed it comes back to us always!

I am responding to the idea of Craigslist. It works. You have to use it sparingly and I have seen programs that can help manage it. When I have posted in the past, I thought I had recieved little response but the one person that did respond that was a very good prospect could lead me to success in many ways.

Good luck.

Here's something. Retail your product or service and then ask for
a couple of referrals. After you get the referrals tell your new customer
that you are going to earn a commission from the sales to his/her
friends and wouldn't he/she rather get the commission themselves?

This works. And then you go to the referrals and do the same thing.

Rinse repeat.

There are several ways to drive free traffic.

1.) Article Marketing - write an article a day and submit it to top 4-5 ezine directories

2.) Press Releases

3.) Social Marketing - web 2.0 marketing

4.) You Tube and video marketing

consistency & daily habits are the key to building a multiple marketing pipeline strategy.

To Everyone's Success & Happiness,

Aniko'

I have been reading all of these messages about advertising.  I never realized how many avenues there were for advertising, whether they are low-cost or high cost.  I have a very simple question for all, how do you know which avenue to take for your business?  Do you just pick one and hope for the best?  Or what?
