First lets talk about the 7 most critical business building activities.
1. Build your contact list.
Lets face it, without a contact list you will never have a business. Especially in the beginning 80% of your time should be built working on this critical step. You can do this with Newspaper ads, this is my personal favorite, or Google Adwords, Online Classifieds, Online Prospecting, Calling people you know, business cards, etc.
2. The invite.
This step is ever so important. You need to figure out how you want to approach the invite step and stick with it. With my business I am calling people up who have already asked me for more info from my website. I ask them some basic questions that aren't too difficult to know if they would fit well in my business then I offer them a chance to join in on a conference call where I give more info on the business opportunity I have for them. This is how I handle the invite step but you can do this any way you wish.
3 + 4. Sponsoring + Follow Up Training
I am in the MLM business and so are you or you wouldn't be reading an MLM forum, but anyways, sponsoring is essential to this business as you all know. Once you get someone to accept the offer to join you, it doesn't stop there, you must continue to help, or they will be lost. Set up a 48 hour follow up training session, then help them get some customers under them. Always be there for all of them so they don't quit.
5. Celebrate your success with them
Celebrating your success is the only way to get them to set goals for themselves to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
6. Team Up
You must team up and work together with the first business builder you believe to be as serious as you that you sign up. Working together will be much easier than trying to go at it alone.
7. And of course....
Lead by example, without that, you will not succeed.

I've noticed that either Freedom Fire owns stock, is a mastermind or just a Networker that does his homework and shares it often, daily, hourly and well you get the message. however in is 15 rules to live by to make your home based small business a success and yes I read all 15 of them. I liked all of them but chose rule two which is very to the point, yes you as I did should read all 15 and rule 8 which singled out Mua being at times gramatically challenged. So here is rule #8
Rule 8 - Check small things Like the fine print in contracts. Like the URL in that sales letter you've just put the finishing touches on. Like your spelling and punctuation. In other words, pay attention to detail.
Now Mr. Freedom Fire I will read your other posts but honestly I had to handle some of my own tasks and posts that I'm steadily moving into.
Many thanks for the tidbits of truth in MLM and your take on steps to success and I will share and read from you in many posts to come!
Just so you know they call me the Tiger maybe some will know why?

I think the biggest rule is to have the prospect close themselves. That creates a relationship with the person where they trust you because they continue to agree with you.
Do you see value in our products? YES
Do you see value in our sales system? YES
Do you see value in our compensation plan on how you can earn $10k+ minimum a month here? YES
Can you see yourself doing what I am doing with you which is acting as a tour guide? YES
I can go on and on but get the customer or prospect to close themselves. You will then have a better prospect who knows why he is here instead of being sold on hype!

Rule 1 - It ain't as bad as you think, it will look better in the morning If there's one experience universal to ALL home-business owners, particularly those running a business on the internet, it's the occasional feeling that you're just spinning your wheels, and not getting anywhere. The number of people who give up on their businesses just as they approach the brink of success is staggering. So hang in there and remind yourself, when things look bleak, that tomorrow is another day, things really aren't as bad as they seem and things really WILL look better in the morning.
==============
Just wanted to touch on that red part for a sec...
I've run into more than a few folks (including myself) sometimes and more often than not, they ARE just spinning their wheels and going nowhere because income producing activities are not ACTED on.
Sometimes we think of all kinds of ways to "keep busy" doing all kinds of little "busy work" instead of taking action on the FEW SIMPLE things that actually move us closer to closing sales.
Them main two cuprits:
1. Endlessly chasing your own tail looking for prospects...
(It's 2008! If decent quality prospects aren't chasing YOU, there is a problem!)
2. Endlessly checking emails or hanging in unproductive forums (ouch) and NOT following up the few prospects that DO ask you for info...
What's helped me TONS is to have a "Plan of the Day" (marine corps mind control) each day and stick to it. Get YOUR critical activities done first BEFORE getting lost in checking email or downloading stuff on iTunes, or hanging on YouTube...
AND FOLLOW UP WITH THOSE PROSPECTS!!
A broadcast email to your opt-in list at least every couple days to see if they're still alive is really important. Take some marketing tactics you're learning and teach it to your list... it's a great way to:
1. Learn it yourself...
2. Position yourself as a leader and source of valuable knowledge
And that can go a long way in making those "decision calls" or follow up activities
a lot smoother.
Hope this helps!
Franco

Thank you for sharing these great ideas. When you put them all together, they truly sound like a blueprint for success.
I like the idea about having a vision. All of the greatest accomplishments in life have come about because someone had a thought, an idea about something they wanted to achieve.
It all starts within us. We can create the vision for success in our lives if we are willing to imagine, to try and to commit to our vision. It can happen. We just have to believe.
John

I am trying my best to add to the 15 points, but I just can't...
I have another name for these points: the 15 commandments of any Home Based Business.
Maybe some of you can come up with a better name.
Cheers,
Wyatt

You hear it all of the time, people saying they would love to have their own business. They say this for many reasons like they don’t like corporate life, working to make someone else rich, being accountable for every hour of the day, and having to ask for sick days, holidays, and vacations. Basically, being treated like they can’t run their own lives without their boss’s intervention. Sound familiar to you? As many people will attest to, starting your own business, much less a home based business, may not be the answer one is looking for in their lives. Why do I say this? Look at the statistics on the survivability of a new brick and mortar business or even a home based business. You all know what they are and they’re not too impressive. You hear everything from one to five years and they’re out of business for whatever reason.
Many people forget the primary basic essence of success in any business venture is you, the individual making the decisions. One must evaluate themselves in great detail with serious introspection to determine if owning any type of business is viable for them. So, how does one go about this journey of discover? Good question.
Look into the field for which you are most interested and locate someone who is successful and where you want to be in the future. Contact them and inquire as to their willingness to spend some time with you and discuss your plans and dreams. You’re looking for their insight and guidance for your endeavor. Many successful people are willing to spend time with people serious in their quest and are willing to share their experiences and offer their advice.
Evaluate your home environment for the viability of having a home based business. Do you have an area that you can designate totally to where you will work your business? I’m not really talking about the kitchen table but, as we all know, many a major corporations and businesses started at the kitchen table. You want a quiet atmosphere, away from the interruptions of kids and pets. Have a nice business desk and very comfortable chair and room for your computer, printer, and some simple file drawers. All of this is relatively inexpensive.
Know in your heart that you can work from home without the typical supervision one would receive in an office environment. One must be able to make phone calls and focus on the tasks at hand without wanting to get up and vacuum, do the wash, or play with the pets. After all, this is “your” business and you are totally responsible and accountable to yourself for your results.
You may be lucky enough to have a mentor in your chosen industry but they will not be responsible for your success or your failure. That is a responsibility borne only by you as the business owner. In addition to a mentor, take advantage of local training through you Small Business Association and Chamber of Commerce small business trainings. Membership is nominal and it will get you out of the home to do quality networking with fellow businessmen.
Do your research into the business you would like to own. There are many individual businesses that you may start simply with your own product or idea. In addition there are direct sales, franchises, and network marketing opportunities where much of the back office and other business activities are already done for you. Don’t limit yourself in your search.
When should you go full time in your new home based business? A very perceptible question and a necessary one to fully evaluate the viability of your business. It is normally recommended that you not go into full time status with your home based business until you have at least six months of finances saved for living expenses in the bank. In addition to that you want to make your current salary for at least three to six months in a row to insure the continuity is there for the transition without having to worry about income cycles that go up and down. Continuity is the key to long term success.
This article is only a thumbnail sketch of what you need to do before going into a home based business and follow through. It all depends on you as the individual. Write down your goals, be specific and detailed, set time tables to be accountable, and be prepared to focus intently on your business for a solid six months to a year. Constantly re-evaluate your progress to stay on the right track. Be flexible as a home based business is a living entity. Keep an open mind and consistently work on personal development. You are the business and you are fully responsible for the success or failure based upon your attitude, mindset, and actions.
