Attitude Is Everything
The process of human change begins within us. We all have tremendous potential. We all desire good results from our efforts. Most of us are willing to work hard and to pay the price that success and happiness demand.
Each of us has the ability to put our unique human potential into action and to acquire a desired result. But the one thing that determines the level of our potential, that produces the intensity of our activity, and that predicts the quality of the result we receive is our attitude.
Attitude determines how much of the future we are allowed to see. It decides the size of our dreams and influences our determination when we are faced with new challenges. No other person on earth has dominion over our attitude. People can affect our attitude by teaching us poor thinking habits or unintentionally misinforming us or providing us with negative sources of influence, but no one can control our attitude unless we voluntarily surrender that control.
No one else "makes us angry." We make ourselves angry when we surrender control of our attitude. What someone else may have done is irrelevant. We choose, not they. They merely put our attitude to a test. If we select a volatile attitude by becoming hostile, angry, jealous or suspicious, then we have failed the test. If we condemn ourselves by believing that we are unworthy, then again, we have failed the test.
If we care at all about ourselves, then we must accept full responsibility for our own feelings. We must learn to guard against those feelings that have the capacity to lead our attitude down the wrong path and to strengthen those feelings that can lead us confidently into a better future.
If we want to receive the rewards the future holds in trust for us, then we must exercise the most important choice given to us as members of the human race by maintaining total dominion over our attitude. Our attitude is an asset, a treasure of great value, which must be protected accordingly. Beware of the vandals and thieves among us who would injure our positive attitude or seek to steal it away.
Having the right attitude is one of the basics that success requires. The combination of a sound personal philosophy and a positive attitude about ourselves and the world around us gives us an inner strength and a firm resolve that influences all the other areas of our existence.

To that I say....Amen, great article, and so right on. With the right attitude, determination, and consistent action you WILL be a great success.
There are some people that look at everything as a PROBLEM, and whine, and look at why something does not work. There are others that just see problems as a challenge to get better, and make things work out.
If each started in the same place....at the same time....the 2nd one would win every time.
That's why as leaders, we must teach our people to take responsibility for their actions!
I've come across my fair share of networkers who lay blame, make excuses, and try to justify when things do not work out for them....instead of attacking the problems and overcoming them.
These people will never be successful in life unless they are willing to change their attitudes and mindsets.
It is human nature though. People to not want to fail. My theory is they join with good intent. But then when they find they have to work, or talk to someone, they freeze and their good intents change. Then they don't want to fail, so they have to blame someone, so they make excuses.
I find that sad, but it does happen. Success does not happen over night, it takes time and work.
I can't understand why someone thinks they can enter the mlm world and be an instant success without giving themselves time to learn the skills it takes to be successful. It takes time and conistency and being willing to learn.

Hi Michael,
Thanks so much for the sharing.
There's surely a lot of new recruits and newbie's entering
into an internet MLM or whatever network marketing opportunities
and say
"Oh I'm going to recover my enrollment cost, make sure that I'm
in the profit within X number of months or days and commit a total
or X number of hours to achieve it"
I say, yeah thats great but they forgot one thing.
They didn't write it down. I realised this earlier on many months back...
Michael, you do remember right ? when I first joined this forum... I was
so excited about everything and trying my best to cope up with doing
most of the things "required" to build a presence online.
Now, I've learnt so much and I want to thank you and all the others
here who's helped me so much in many ways (oh yes Aaron - for your
tips on blogging). Micheal, you've helped me so much and we've become
good friends. Just hope to meet you in person some day and shake your
hand.
Well, okay I've learnt hat the most out of getting success is not about
the tools or the skills needed and all that cool stuff you do online to get
people to buy and enroll under you...
It's your mental and emotional desire to succeed.
I'm always amazed on how a person with $0 to his name could build an
empire of over $100,000 in just 18 months and some even less... well,
these group of people did it because they needed to succeed. There's
just no other way. It could be a financial debt, a desperation for cash
to buy something... whatever. There was something that made their
thoughts....
CLICK and say "let's do this.... until something happens"
And it did.
Wow, I should turn this into an article you know - 
Just a clear reminder to myself and many others online.
There's more than 2007. It's beyond that and what I'm going
to do is to be consistent and discipline. Also, stay focused on the
projects that need to be done.

WOW. Michael and Vern, good post and reply.
Most of us do not have the skills or the right attitude to be successful when we start out. This takes time. How much time? This certainly will vary from person to person, but we can all end up in the same place in the long run if we learn how to be successful. Both from the day to day nuts and bolts of running our businesses and the can do attitude to stick with it.

Great post! I agree attitude is everything! I was watching this movie the other day I'm sure you have all heard of it.... It's called "The Secret" if you haven't heard of it go to this link and watch it now it will really change the way you think!

I learned one easy tip.... if you are ever feeling depressed, or just in a very negative mood and seem to be accomplising nothing just listen to some nice music. That alone can make you feel better. Life is to short to spend it being stressed out or depressed! Just keep a good attitude and really you can accomplish anything you set your mind to! If your starting a new business I reccomend you read alot of motivational books. The best thing you can do for yourself is stay motivated and remember why you began in the first place. We all have goals and dreams we want to accomplish in our lives and if you just stay on track you can do anything!

The Secret is a great movie. The Law of Attraction is always working whether you believe in it or not. For some people, admitting that no one else is responsible for where they are in life is not not a truth they want to accept. My goodness they can't blame everyone else? Take responsibility for my own life?

Great article , it is so true that a lot of our success is definitly based on our attityde. It is so sad to see that must of us in the industry want to succeed but would not change our attitude towards success. Just this morning I was reading a book and there it was stated that in order to get diffrent things we must be prepared to do diffrent things.

All other things being equal, I'll take someone with PASSION over someone with SALES EXPERIENCE (re: someone who already knows it all), anyday.
Experience can be taught and learned, PASSION gets you out of bed every morning.

Jim Rohn says that attitude is one of the five major pieces to the life puzzle. The influences of association are subtle but very powerful. I try to surround myself and deliberately associate with positive goal oriented people, it makes me better.
BTW:
A great book on ths subjets is "Attitude 101" by Dr John C. Maxwell

I like that part a lot too. I didn't really understand the
philosophy that much but I did it in a very simple way.
Let me try putting this in a more candid manner so that
everyone could at least understand this a little more.
An Interesting Story For You To Remember:
"Well, I was walking along minding my business and on
the way to attend my team training session right ?
(by the way, sometimes I go give classes) but what
the heck it's just human nature that we all have bad
days or some days we get this 'lethargic' feeling a
feeling that you're so sick and tired that you want to
just lay at home and think about why do I have to do
this and that to achieve success.
This day was one of those 'down and out' days.
I had to practically KICK myself to get to the training and
I told myself that if I made it there I'd just smile and get
to my seat and pretend to me happy.
I'm not there yet, I'm still walking.
Then, I began to THINK and IMAGINE what life would be
if I had made it and all the earning potential, the friends
and business partners and also mentors I WILL have when
I start to see results in my business.
Boy, I started to feel a little happy I tell you. It was like
a small adrenaline rush to my head and heart that why
not just decide to be rich? Imagine where you'd take your
family out on anyday you wish and still have money rolling
in to your account without even knowing it.
Imagine a life without worries and financial struggle when
you wake up and yet another one of your business partners
call you up and say
'Hey Vern (or your name) ! Good morning... Just wanted to
let you know that I've got another great idea to increase
your profits even more, when can we sit down and talk?'
THAT is what really got me excited. The fun of making money
and running a real big business with all the pleasures of
happiness materially. After all, money is just a tool to buy
that nice car, house or even a great vacation with your family,
isn't that what we all want?
So, here I am all excited.
Then, the inevitable happens. I came back to my present
situation and started to PLAN my strategies into achieving
the results I desired to get that lifestyle I wanted so badly.
Further to this, you'd be thinking I went and did it right?
Wrong I went to learn a little HOW it's done and then
decided which method, tool or work is most profitable
or feasible to implement into an action in my Master PLAN
of my strategies in getting results.
Nonetheless, I arrived at the training so excited that not
only I had 1 person who signed up without much effort
(after a little 5 minutes chat of course). But also I FULLY
absorbed all that was thought there about email marketing
that day.
I was happy and satisfied."
Note that this is a true account and my lifestory just last week.
Also, the cycle of my success is as such:
DREAM / IMAGINE -> PLAN -> LEARN -> ACTION
I started with the thought, not the plan, not the learning
and not even the action.
Initially, I thought all this stuff was like mumbo jumbo stuff about
motivational ideas and all. But it does work and the mind is
indeed a powerful tool which could cause you to stumble or
to succeed.
There is no limitations to your dreams and visions.
In fact, it's FREE. So, dream it today and start seeing your
results in just a matter of days , hours or even minutes!
Have a clear vision of what you WANT. you will get it.

The saddest thing is that most people spend their entire lives looking for some "secret" to success, when in reality there isn't one.
All there is is just clear vision, focus, perseverance and hard work.
Only those who realize this simple truth will have a chance for success.
Others will keep looking, starting, quitting, looking, starting, quitting... and on and on. And by quitting and not following through, they train themselves not to complete things in life, and it becomes a vicious cycle.
But the worst thing is, they lose self-trust and self-respect. And you can never succeed without those 2 qualities.

I agree that most of use do not have the skills or the right attitude when we start in the online business, however it is through continuous learning that you gain the relevant skills, attitudes and beliefs that are needed to succeed online. Feeling overwhelmed with all the information, tips, tricks and programs out there is totally normal, and many of us just starting out will feel this way. Once you find the right company, the right information and are ready to learn from those who are experienced in the area, you will be able to further develop your attitude into a more positive and knowledgable one.
I know when i first started out working online, I was ready to quit many times, however I had and still have a wonderful sponser there to help me every step of the way, and I think without him I would have never got as far as I have today. Having someone there to motivate you and guide you through it makes it a whole lot easier. I now have the opportunity and knowledge to do the same to others and help them with their struggles when working from home or within the internet business. this is by far the most rewarding experience.

I just found this thread. Michael, you outdid yourself with this one. Attitude is a choice, plain and simple. There is no "Easy Button." There are no short cuts. Success is not a monetary achievement, financial rewards are a result of success. Success is living every day by what we used to call "The Golden Rule." Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The apostle Paul put it another way. "Let love be without hypocrisy, Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in Brotherly Love, give preference to one another in honor." Rom 12:9-10. I focus on "give preference to one another in honor." Other translations render the verse this way, "always treat others as more important than oneself." Now, if we all lived by that creed, our attitudes would not be as vulnerable to attacks from other people. We would remain in control, and return the offense with kindness. Now, as to business, if we prefer others in honor, we will always be seeking to benefit other people, and financial reward would come in due course. Yes, i wax philosophic, but there is great truth in the words of scripture.

It is so true - Attitude is everything. When I first started my Network Marketing Career, I really thought the whole belief thing was just a bunch of blah blah.
When my first bit of frustration set in, I knew I needed to change my attitude and belief asap. That is when I began go incorporate it into my daily routine. Now, I devote a portion of time each week to self development reading.
It has helped me as a network marketing professional, as a wife and a mother.

| I love this thread. It is so important to have a good attitude, no matter what your circumstances are. Life can be hard, but our attitudes and how we deal with hardship makes a huge difference. Building a business can also be hard. Keeping a great attitude in the midst of it all will make the difference. A positive attitude will also keep us in the game rather than quitting when times get tough.

I once heard it said that, ignorance on fire is better than knowledge on ice.
Love that line.
I would rather work with a beginner whose enthusiastic then a know it all that does nothing with their knowledge. It's so much easier to work with excited people even if they make mistakes.
Attitude really is everything because it's so contagious so you want your team catching good attitudes, not bad ones.

You can have the best products, the best compensation plan, the best follow-up system, but you also need that winner's attitude to get down to work on your business and make things happen.
That's the main problem with many networkers - they simply do not have the attitude, or winners' mentally to follow it through. And then they blame everything but themselves for their own failure.
These people can really do with some winning attitude drilled into them to wake them up and face reality.

That is a great article and post.
That brings to mind some of my favorite quotes that I really like that I have enjoyed over the years. Here are a few of my favorites..

I believe are these are some of the quotes that got me to adjust my thinking and attitude back into the right frame of mind.
I believe if you apply them you can be successful in your professional, personal as well as every other aspect of your life. It all boils down to this in the end is how much of it you apply to yourself. It is up to you. The more you apply it the better off you will be, then the more successful you will become.
