Hi Ya'll,

If you look at what Joe Bingham says...it's really just common sense and practical application. Unfortunately some folks seem to miss that stuff....either by choice or by sponsor example.

Maybe these words can enlighten those who need it.

God Bless,
Michael

How Top Network Marketers Build Success

Personally, I believe in the power of network marketing. I
believe it is a wonderful idea as it makes business success more
readily available to the average person -- with or without
previous business experience or education.

However, it is not the average person who enjoys huge success
atop a powerful network marketing organization.

Unfortunately, there has been too much misinformation,
dishonesty, and of course, our old friend 'hype' involved in the
business.

Still, as with anything, there is truth behind the hype that can
show you the way to real success.

However, despite how 'easy' everyone who is desperate to
recruit you into their business will tell you it is, it's not. It takes
time. It takes knowledge. It takes confidence. But most
importantly it takes a PLAN.

Those largely successful in network marketing, no matter the
company, have several things in common.

1. They believe whole heartedly in the company they work with
and the products or services it markets.

You cannot succeed in network marketing if you are only a
money seeker and do not genuinely care about the company you
chose to work with and use the products or services it markets
for yourself. Hands down, don't argue with this one, just trust
me.

I know there are a few 'slick' individuals that can sell anything
and seem to make it work for them, but unless that's how you
want to be you'll just have to find a company you actually like
and are happy to be associated with.

2. They have, and SHOW, a confidence in themselves and
their ability to succeed.

People are attracted to others who are successful or have
confidence in what they are doing. Everyone is looking to
increase their wealth or position in life and will only listen to
others they see as being able to help them in doing just that.

3. They know their products, their business plan, and the likely
objections they will face from the people to whom they will
present them.

Ever see someone who is high up in a network marketing
organization that didn't know their stuff? Do you think they
know their stuff because they are high up in the organization or
do you think they knew it first and that was what helped them to
get there? Think about it.

4. They have a well defined system in place for obtaining
leads on people that may be interested in what they offer.

Honestly, this can be the hardest part. This is where either your
time, talent, or money is required, and likely all three. To
succeed at network marketing, you must have a constant flow
of new leads. You must set up a system that puts you in
contact with others on a continuing basis.

5..They have a well defined system for taking those leads
through an information process about their products and/or
business plan.

Make a plan. Know what you are going to say to people when
you first introduce them to your product or business. Include
ways to interest them into taking the next step in finding out
more. Know what that next step is so you are prepared to
show it to them when they are ready. Take them through your
information process and then ask them to make a decision on
the information you have given them.

At some point, you're going to have to look for a commitment
from your leads. Are they going to buy product or join your
organization or not?

6. They know where to spend most of their time and effort.

Most people you present a network marketing business plan to
will not be interested. Some will show interest, but never
commit. Others will commit, but then not do much. One in a
hundred or more will become a valuable part of your
organization.

You cannot treat all prospects the same. Know where your
greatest potential lies and spend the most time with it. I don't
mean this to sound as if you shouldn't care about the others you
talk to, just that those with the most interest deserve more of
your time --- for both their good and yours.

Obviously, the Internet and the tools it provides can help you to
automate much of a network marketing business. However, I
believe you still need to keep it personal. Stay involved, know
your stuff, and be there to make it real for the people who want
to work with you.

A network marketing opportunity can make you rich, but first
you must enrich it.

In other words, you'll get out of it what you put in to it.
However, by it's basic design it can bring you more reward for
your efforts than other business plans.

Which just means it's worth your time to learn, plan, and do it
the right way. To succeed will take time and commitment.

Plan for it.

I really like that this is the first point the author makes in this article.  I know that the one thing that put me off network marketing when I first started was the constant pressure to sell, sell, sell - to anyone and everyone.  Integrity seemed to be portrayed as something that you needed to overcome if you were ever going to be successful.

I'm *so* glad that the tide seems to have turned against that kind of attitude in most of the articles I read now.

Best wishes, and may every day bring you closer to your optimum life

Michael,

That is a great article, thanks for sharing it.

I believe that network marketing is a people / relationship business, and nothing more.  Chasing the almighty dollar doesn't work with network marketing .. it is a people business.

To your success!

I like the point in the article about not treating all of your prospects the same! We must all remember that the heart of any networking business are the people you refer! These are people who have different backgrounds and needs. Most good networking site will supply a lead capture system and calls that one's prospects can participate in but netwrok marketing sometimes has to be high touch where we interact with the people interested in our opportunities.

Good article!

Great sentiments here.

I think business as a whole (not just MLM) is finding that, to survive and prosper, the emphasis has to be customer or client orientated.  In the case of MLM, our desire needs to focus on helping our downline to achieve their goals and to promote an ethical and valuable product.

I thought MLM was a great way to do business when I came across it 10 years ago and I still do.  As you say, there are always the "slick salesperson" types in any business but I think people see through them now.

Joe is right in many ways.  It does take a strong set of skills to succeed in MLM and regular business.

One way in which I changed my marketing with the last mlm I was in:  I had a very concise phone script, all of about 40 words, and I would ask them to make a decision. (I was calling "business wanted" leads)  Anyway, I heard about this phone system in an MLM Book and it really seemed to work for me.

I would spend about 5-6 hours on the phone, 4 days per week, and after all the call backs, follow-ups, and chats back and forth, I would guess I recruited about 3-5 people out of 100.  Each day I would dial about 125 phone numbers, and within this period actually have discussions with about 20-25 people.

I was a straight shooter on the phone, and stuck to my script, and generally asked if they would like to try some products or if they'd be interested in a video?

I had put in some very long days, and they did eventually pay off.

These days, I have authored about 5 books on MLM, after being in it about 20 years, and these days I am working on my own company- with much thanks to all the skills and talents that I learned in 20 years in MLM.  It's a good training ground for folks like me that eventually want to start-up a business of their own.

Yours-Brian

Thanks for 'bumping' this article back to the front page Michael.  I think this is a very
important concept for online marketers to realize and fully grasp.  The article clearly
supports the fundamental concepts we try and teach on this forum...business
building, professionalism, communication, clearly defining goals, personal
develpment, etc.

These concepts are critical to your success not just in network marketing, but in any
business model including Direct Sales, franchising, consulting, etc.  Take the time to
learn your trade, understand your business model, and put it into practice.  Before
joining a company blindly, ensure that you see a way to meet each data point listed
in this article.

- Does the company have a system in place to help ensure prospects become
clients?
- Does the company have a duplicatable system that can turn even the 'newbie' into
a leader?
- Are you willing to personally endorse your products and business?
- Do you have the team support to ensure you grow in confidence and wealth?

All very important questions you should ask yourself.  But even more important, is
that once you find the business that's right for you, you put these ideas into
practice.  Don't just learn something and shelve it for 'later'.  Take action today and
take charge of your future.

Yours in Greater Success,
Merideth

Great Article!

Thanks for posting it. I have been in a few MLM's and it is so important to find one you love. I must say I loved my first one but the cost of the product was to much for the average persons pocketbook. It was a hard first choice, but I cut my teeth on that one.

The next one was a service I thought everyone would want, until the state came in and made them change everything.

Now finally I found the right one. The product is priced cheaper than you can get it at Walmart, with better quality. It's more fun than I have ever had. I give away free stuff everyday and love it. What you give away comes back to you 10 fold. I really love that. Just about the business of creating joy.

I am home and creating success.

Linda

The point about loving what you do and not being in it for the money is critical!

I run free training sessions every few weeks for my downline members and I am always happy to help by phone or email.

So many people pitch me on their opportunity and they focus on all the money.  In many cases, they hardly understand how the product works and may not even use it themselves!

I only promote products that I truly believe in and am passionate about.  :)

It does take a strong set of skills to succeed in MLM and regular business.I guess I'm in the minority opinion on this.  I don't perceive that it takes a "strong set of skills" to be successful in network marketing.

The longer I'm in this business, the more I have a hard time relating to people who insist on viewing the business as "hard" or "difficult".  What's so hard about it?

1. You generate a lead or a prospect.  (There are so many ways to do this simply and easily there's no point in even discussing it.)
2.  You have a short conversation to see if they're serious or curious.
3.  You take the serious ones and invite them to attend a presentation where they will learn the broad strokes of the company, the product and the opportunity.
4.  You follow up with them to answer any remaining questions and collect a decision.

That's it.  What's difficult?

Now, some areas can be delegated (and, in my opinion, SHOULD be delegated).  You should have a systematic presentation that you plug your prospects into.   That way you don't have to become an expert presenter before you can start recruiting.

Secondly, I recommend using 3-way calls with your sponsor to answer a prospect's questions.  By doing this you A.) demonstrate the level of support that you have (and that they will have) and B.) you're able to recruit people even if you don't yet know all the answers.

Maybe I'm missing something.  But, I honestly don't believe I am.  I think there is a vested interest on the part of our industry's trainers to make this business look much harder and mysterious than it is.

Everyone wants to offer you an ebook.
Everyone wants to get you to a free "how to" seminar.
Everyone wants to sell give you a "free bootcamp" on why you're struggling.
And there are even some people who will happily spread conspiracy theories to make you believe that the "real secrets" of network marketing have been hidden and kept secret from you by the "heavy hitters" who want to keep you stuck in the status of a worker bee.

Sigh.

Keep it simple.  Put a system in place that's proven to work.

This business is simple.  Don't believe anyone who tells you it's not.

Bravo, Tony!!

The voice of reason and common sense speaks yet once again.

I'm not involved in a mlm, but have been researching and studying the industry for a number of years.  And, although, I enjoy reading the many great posts by the many wonderful authors on this forum, I, certainly, believe that mlm is an excellent business model with, unfortunately, a few inherent flaws.  Which is why the attrition rate in this industry is quite high.

I believe it should be simple to implement the various tools and systems that are available so that everyone who chooses to participate can, ultimately earn the living that this industry affords.

Of course, love for your products or services, and enthusiasm, add fuel to the success factor.

Thank you for posting this topic FreedomFire.

Great article. The single most important part in my mind is providing a system for your people to market the business. If you just throw people to the wolves you will leave a trail of destruction behind you. In order to succeed you will have to work forever because you will create zero duplication.

One of the keys to growing a big busines is attracting people who are successful at it already. Trying to present them woth a new business is nearly impossible because they simply don't care. If you approach them with a solution IE a way to generate leads easier then you can get the door open.

This is an interesting Thread. Some find all of this overwhelming and others find it simple. I think you are both right as "As a man thinketh, so is he."

This post is right on.  When I first started in network marketing, we made the system so complicated that most people could not learn it, let alone duplicate it.

I have found that when I concentrate on attracting quality prospects by offering value and being helpful, that is far more important than any gimmicks, articles, newletters opr blogs.

That said, I do write and publish artiucles and a blog, which attract prospects.
