Another thread made me think about the importance of this issue.

First, don't misunderstand the question...a lot of people think "integrity" is about ethics, honesty and morals.  It's not.  "Integrity" is simply when someone's actions are in alignment with their thoughts and language.

So, if someone says "I'm going to rob a bank today" and they go DO that....then they DO have integrity.  They don't have any morals or ethics but they ARE in integrity.

So....with that clarification out of the way...

What are some areas of network marketing that require more integrity?

= Is it integrity for a person to make claims about their nutritional products when they (themselves) are battling high blood pressure, migraines, diabetes or an oversized waistline?

= Is it integrity for a person to say that their company gives members an opportunity to take control of their financial lives......while this person simultaneously complains about how gas prices are killing them?

= Is it integrity for a person to say that "you can create a large walkaway income in 3-5 years"....while they (themselves) have been in the MLM industry for 10+ years and have never earned $5,000 in a single month?

This are not indictments and they're certainly not directed to anyone particularly.  I was just thinking about the concept of "integrity" this morning and how so much of one's personal power comes from KNOWING that your actions and experience are in alignment with one's language and beliefs.

What are your thoughts on the topic?

The biggest place where integity has to lie is without a doubt is the product or service that you are selling.  Is it a truly great and unique product that everyone needs or something that everyone would use if given that product???

Beyond that is the integrity of the person selling the product.  You have to sell yourself first before you can sell the product.  Whenever I'm speaking to clients or doing a seminar or presentation, I always wear a company logo shirt and for a formal gathing, a tailor made black suit with a tie.  It makes you look more professional, more legitimate and most importantly more sincere and lets the potential customer indirectly know that you stand behind a product.

As far as income is concerned, well you really have to weigh "actual income".  Basically I'd rather be the person who made 1500 dollars spending only 100 dollars rather than the person who spent 500,000 to made 300,000.  If they made a decent profit than thats what you would look for

Last but not least, the person has to be honest about the product.  You can't go around and tell people they'll make 10,000 in 60 minutues .  Exaggerated claims usually doesn't build trust and eventually will catch up with you

I have been a student of Yoga for many years.  Yoga is the science

of "integrating" all parts of one's being.  When this begins to occur,

a state of peaceful contentment arises.

Integrity to me means having one's thoughts, feelings and actions

in agreement.  It means that these things all "go" in the same direction.

All of us get challenged in the world of today and we sometimes behave

in ways that aren't integrated... but if we make a practice of examining

the state of our own integration at least we can be more aware when

we veer off course.

A few thoughts..... although one could write a book on this

I looked on Dictionary.com and here is the definition it gave for integrity:

1. Adherance to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty

2. State of being whole, entire or undiminished: "to preserve the integrity of the
    empire"

3. A sound, unimpaired, or perfect condition: "the integrity of a ship's hull"

Honesty paves the path; promoting a  product or service without exaggerating or embelishing, so the potential customer knows exactly what is offered and if it is something they would purchase.  Knowingly decieving would be an affront against integrity.

As for the man saying he is going to rob a bank, my stand is that integrity would not allow someone to do it. This kind of action does not display "soundness of moral character" For integrity to exist, there needs to be adherance to moral principles, moral being principles or habits with respect to right or wrong conduct.

When I am promoting something, I ask myself if I am being honest, will what I am promoting  help or harm, and am I taking advantage of someone by enticing them to buy something they don't want.

Making claims about health products is a sensitive topic and my personal opinion is that it's not a good practice to personally make health claims whether or not they love the products.

If you're selling health related products and you've had great experiences with them personally, it could be valid to mention what's happened for you, though you would still appear biased to a degree.

I feel that independent 3rd party scientific studies lend more credibility.  I'd also look at a companies' products if they were endorsed by somebody famous that I know and respect, but that's just me.

Any claims like 'lose 20 pounds guaranteed in 30 days' are obviously going to send everybody running in the opposite direction, and rightly so.

Another word comes into play here and that is trust. Sometimes, one cannot trust the integrity of an individual, for personal reasons, such as having had their trust betrayed, or having watched people being taken advantage of. Some people are not worthy of trust. I understand that.

I also understand that there are people who have impeccable integrity, and such people I trust. I look at their lives and their philosophy, and I can trust, believing that any necessary scientific validation is readily available, though not necessarily sought.

I talked to a woman at a meeting once who had been taking a certain supplement for 6 months. For 2 years previously to that, she had been diagnosed with MS. She described going ffrom atheletic to hardly being able to get out of bed. She coluld no longer go to the gymn, everyday activities were almost impossible.  After taking the supplements for 6 month, she had alot of her strenght back and was able to go to the gymn again. I wasn't about to grill her on the scientific basis for these supplements, the results spoke for themselves.  I understand that every person may not necessarily experience the same results, depending on the underlying source of the ailment.

I have personally experienced many health benefits from these same supplements. Those speak volumes to me.

Hi Partners,

Integrity can be translated in many languages.

In all the most common definition is Honesty.

This is a business of people helping people. The numbers are simple enough, you help a lot of people, you become successful (And I am not talking Just about Money)

This industry is beautiful, there is no need for Hype, or Lies. Maybe you are not on the top just yet. Just tell it like it is, John Rohn said it best when he said "I am working full time on my job and part time on my fortune"

Integrity will make your life better.

I'm really glad you said you're not just talking about money. Success is defined by many more things than money. Relationships, better attitudes, true care for others all of which translate into happiness. Money alone will not make us happy.
