People fail to realize that when they start a home based business (network marketing, direct sales, etc), they are starting a BUSINESS and must treat it as such. Businesses require start up captial (you cannot realistically expect to create $10,000 per month with a $10 'investment'), advertising and marketing expenses, time, energy, creativity, passion, etc. You get the idea. The thing that drives me absolutely crazy is when people tell me that they're unwilling to spend more than $50 in their home business.
They've seen so many ads on the Internet claiming you can turn $50 into $500,000 that they believe it. Sorry to burst that bubble folks, but it's absolutely not true. That particular breed of 'tire kicker' is probably the most frustrating. They claim to want to create a better life for themselves, but are completely unwilling to do the heavy lifting to get there.
It's not difficult to make $10,000 a month, but you have to be willing to commit to earn it.
I'm sure you'll find differing opinions on this, but from my perspective, you should stick with your advertising until you are able to determine whether it is successful or not. Now, that may seem like a pretty ambiguous statement, so let me explain a little bit.
There are some very well-established forms of advertising that are known to produce successful results...but only if you are using them correctly. Let's use Google Adwords as an example. I have had people tell me that they have done 'everything' they could think of and just weren't getting the results they wanted. They then went on to tell me that no, they never got around to reading Perry Marshall's book, they never got around to testing their headlines and ad copy, they never looked up alternative key words, etc, etc, etc. Basically, 'everything' encompassed placing a few of the canned company ads on the BIG and popular Google searches. Well no wonder they didn't see results...
Do you see what I mean here? So when I say that you should choose 2 forms of advertising and master them before moving on to something else, I mean just that. Master them. Don't half-heartedly place a few ads and throw your hands in the air with frustration when you don't see results...
The other thing that goes into that is carefully choosing those advertising mediums you want to work with. There are so many, you should easily be able to choose a few that fit your likes (article writing, personal conversation, website copy, etc) and skill sets.

Yes, there are too many people today that believe that don't need to spend a dime to make a fortune.
There are many great opportunties with home businesses today. But each of them take time, money, and commitment. It drives me nuts when someone wants to make $10,000 tomorrow.
Finding your niche and then mastering it is a journey, not a race.

What would you advise to someone like me :
- Living in Europe ( I can't phone to US people - it's night here when it's day there)
- I can just afford my autoship and have hardly any extra money for advertising
- I'd like to build on Internet as my business is very well adapted to Internet

I agree agree. If making $10,000. were so easy everybody would be doing it. I really try to screen my interested people. I want to make sure they are committed and willing to work. Having my own business is the only way for me but it takes hard work and well worth it.

When you land on a web page that promises you the sun, moon and stars for literally nothing the warning flags should go up immediately. Unfortunately, many people believe the hype that never materalizes because the real truth is avoided. That is why so many quit this business.
It is all about focus, determination and effort. Imagine if you landed on a sales page that told you this business is:
1) Difficult
2) Frustrating
3) Challenging
4) Hard
5) But, success can come if you work at it.
I wonder how many would sign up. Unfortunately, not many. But this is what it takes to succeed. And that is the best thing about this forum. We all can find the resources, help and encouragement we need.

A lot of people that jump into this industry and fail miserably because a majority of them come into this industry with desperation, looking to make a quick dollar and get rich over night.
These individuals do not understand that success doesn't come over night and that you need to invest the time and effort as well as learn, grow and develop more and more into a leader every single day.
These individuals take a dive into the industry for a quick fix and with hope in getting rich over night as well as thinking that it doesn't require work and that you can just sit in front of your computer and watch money come into your bank account.

| Thank you, John, for speaking the truth about MLM. I just want to scream when people say that this business is easy. It takes a lot of work and determination. I feel that attrition would not be so prevalent in this business if people knew these things from the beginning.

It just irritates me whenever I see ads that says something like "Earn $100,000 in 7 Days!".
Absolute crap!
I really pity those newbies who are lured into MLM thinking that its going to be easy: you get rich quick, without spending a dime. Then the painful truth is going to unfold right before their eyes.
They see that its not what they first imagined, and then they chickened out. what a waste of time.
It takes time, money, commitment and determination to make it work.

I'm so glad to hear someone telling the truth here. I hear all the time from prospects that they want a better life, they want more money but when you tell them the startup costs or the advertising budget they will need, they run away and say they can't afford it. They'll never change their life if they don't try.

I think people WANT to believe they can make that $10,000 in 7 days. They want it so badly they don't do the proper research or ask the proper questions.
To my prospects, I try to be real upfront about what the business entails including costs and time and unfortunately lose them to another sponsor that promises them the world on a platter.
But you know what? I've not had a call from any of my many 'partners' expressing anger and frustation because they felt I 'sold' them a bad business and now they want their money back.

Do not be discouraged by the actions of your prospects.
These people are typical examples of losers - they expect to get rich quick without any effort or money, and when they see no results, they quit.
And then they blame just about everything except themselves.
Move on, pal.
The Internet world has an abundance of prospects waiting for you.

Each day millions of people around the world want to start a home based business. It is up to you and only you to find these people and show them your opportunity, and there are many ways, but only few of them really draw in the sales we are looking for.
It is a lot easier to make money on the Internet if you are already on a path that is leaning towards success. A major advantage of running your own business is that of setting your own pace. There are a million places to you can go when starting a business online. In fact, I actually feel sorry for new entrepreneurs today who are looking for a business opportunity online because there are so many options it can make your head spin.
Here are the key components that you must have to become successful in the least amount of time:
1. You need to find a mentor that is having the results that you want to have.
If you haven't found a sponsor that is making at least $30,000 a month every month then you need to. I can't stress how critical this is.
2. You need to find a company that has a turn-key duplicatable marketing system.
This is the crown jewel, the most important factor to your success. To be successful you have to be able to plug into a turn key marketing system that is getting results already. If you take nothing else from this piece take this!
Beware of companies that offer you to use the same replicated website as
their only sales pitch. There must be something else. Every company today has that feature.
Your marketing system more than any other factor (outside of you) will determine the results. (Hence The Term Network" Marketing.")
The company must offer elite training? (This point is a close second to a marketing system.)
Every good, reputable company knows that training is vitally imortant to it's success.
If your marketing system is as important as water to your business then training should be as important as food.
3. You have to actually want to be successful. Having a true desire to be successful is priceless. Set goals for yourself and hold yourself accountable to them.
Your next step? To take what you've just learned and do some research. If you're already involved with a company that offers these features then congragulations you have put yourself in the best place for success.
If not... then you might want to re assess your current situation and possibly look for something better... your success depends on it.

There's the key. Don't freeze yourself with inactivity....constant planning and learning. Pick a few "methods" .... master them .... and jump in.

You are so right in saying "Focus on a Few strategies at one time" Much better to do a couple things excellent than barely do many.
Thinking and Learning does not actually pay the bills. Networking, Marketing and promotions do. Get some work done first and foremost.
I can't tell you how many times I have spent a whole day watching videos and attending more training calls or reading a book. No work got done the entire day.
It is really good to separate your work time and your learning time. Set aside time for each. Otherwise you will spend too much time studying and reading the next new ebook instead of doing any actual work.
I make a point of scheduling my time the night before. 2 hours of article writing and blogging/forums. Three 45 minute blocks a day for email. 2 hours for website work. 3 hours for marketing and advertising.
My learning time comes after the work for the day is completed. My tasks for the day are written down and checked off.
On sunday, I write my plan for the week ahead. This is an ongoing list of things I need to do for each product/website or niche.
Knowing you are actually accomplishing things keeps you moving forward.
Write it all down.
