However we must to look for someone who wants to build our business or rather put in the effort to build it steadily is the hard part. Cheers

My sentiments exactly! I am new to this business and here out of neccessity because my retirement income is below poverty level. The last thing I want to do is approach my friends and/or relatives. I've mentioned my desire of getting involved with network and internet marketing so as to supplement and/or better, replace my current income, to quite a few and can not honestly say I recived one positive response. Instead I got a lot of recounted stories of a friend of a friend that fell prey to a scam and lost everything, including the dog. I almost became infected and dicouraged with this same mentality. You mention training on the net. Can you give me some specific recommendations? Alex-4n4

By the way. Is there a way to PM members here? I'm new and still finding my way around.

Hey Mike m,

That's the name of the game - slow and steady wins the race ;)

Even the gurus have to take some time to build their downlines. It just don't happen overnight.

Its true that some of the gurus need only a few months to gain massive profits from their downlines, but the fact is that they had actually spent a good few years building up their mailing list.

Patience is a virtue, and all newbies must take note of this.

To the top,

Wyatt

HI Wyatt, on the guru statement I was just making light with it. I'm in MLM because I love this industry and I just get a kick out of some of the things the Guru's say

I wish to start making money online. Just enough to pay a few bills etc. Is this asking too much? At present I am unsure which area to go into. Affiliate marketing looks possible. But there are so many e-books/courses I do not know here to start.
Therefore, I have decided to ask for advice from other members. What are the pitfalls or the chances of being sold a dud product or course. Can you recommend any products?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Mark,

There are many great products out there.  I chose a product that 90% of American households already use.  It's simple and doesn't take much education and explanation.  That was important to me.

This allows me to concentrate more on generating leads and marketing online.

Think about what your goals are....and you will want product that appeals to most people already.

Also, if marketing online is your goal, find a partner that can teach you to do just that.

Hi Mark,

You have a heck of a journey ahead of you so try to enjoy the process.  What I mean by process is that you can never do too much research before making a decision.  At the same time you don't want to do so much research that you never get started taking positive action.

You have affiliate marketing, which is primarily all done on the internet.  Asking people on different forums is a good start.  Let me direct you to my blog site below to learn some more general information on affiliate, network, and MLM marketing.

Network marketing and interchangably MLM are businesses that can also be worked pretty heavily on the internet "if" you have the right company, product, support, and training.  There is almost always a start up cost involved and then monthly costs for autoship and marketing of your business to prepare for that when considering a budget for your business.

Everything Lisa has said is right on target.  The key here is to take your time, ask questions, trust your gut when dealing with the different people, don't fall for pie in the sky promises of getting rich quick or a system that will do everything for you.  It isn't out there.  Whatever you do will require work on your part so make sure you are comfortable with the products, company, support, training, and profit potential.

Let me refer you to a nonaffiliate link regarding the nuts and bolts of NWM/MLM that you will find very beneficial in your education about the business.  Visit: http://www.firstclassmlm.com/ it is a wealth of information for the new person to the business and industry.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Being part of a forum (like this one) is a great place to get your questions answered.

Finding a good company to be involved with is going to take a great deal of research on your part. While you are looking around, always come back to this forum to ask questions and see if anyone is aware of the company you are considering.

Whenever you find a site that gets your attention see if there is a contact Email or phone number where you might be able to contact them directly and then come back here with your questions.

Good, reputable organizations are there. You just have to research and do your homework.

Good luck,

John

I think the best thing here is to look for a mentor. There are a lot of good mentors who have made it in the Affiliate marketing/networking marketing arena.

Subscribe to a few home based business e-zines, get a feel of the type of opportunities promoted, with time, you will be able to discern a high quality program that you may want to invest in. However, you have to be careful as there are a lot of scammers out there.

Hi Mark,

Make sure to exercise due diligence when you are researching any home based business opportunity.

Also, try to find a product or service that you are passionate about. It makes it much easier to be motivated...and if you are motivated you stand a better chance at being successful.

If you choose a Network Marketing company, make sure they have upline support, have a great marketing system and provide plenty of training.

Too many MLMers fail because they are sponsored into a company and then abandoned and left to their own devices. Network marketing (MLM) is a great industry, just don't jump in without doing your homework.

Try to get in on a company opportunity or training call to see what the business is all about and the type of individuals who are running the business.

Contact me through my profile if you are interested in additional information.

I will send you information that will tell you what to look for in a company and how to compare compensation plans.

Good luck in your work at home search.

Marc

Hello Everyone,

The major obstacle for most people regardless of their profession is focus.
Do you have the ability to do one task and do it extremely well ? When you narrow your FOCUS, you WILL attract exactly the type of business partners and customers that you want.
They will be inspired and motivated by your dedication and will view your business opportunity as the RIGHT opportunity. You will have the success plan for your home based business.

One of my Mentors in Network Marketing is Robert G. Allen, who you may know as a
wealth builder and the best selling author of the book, Multiple Streams of Income.

But, we need to explore if this philosophy is correct for ALL Network Marketers. If you have achieved a level of success in the industry and desire to create additional streams of income...You SHOULD.

It is a protection plan against the loss of income in your online business.
Unfortunately, many Marketers are involved in a single business opportunity and if the company goes under, then your income that you worked hard to build is now gone. Regretably, this does happen in the online world of Network Marketing.

Everyone involved in any business must realize that business is a risk, both online and offline.

If you have multiple streams of income, then you may be in a more comfortable position where you hopefully have additional streams that are generating income.

In the current world of Network Marketing, we are now faced with more options and possibilities than ever before. There is always a new pre-launch or a launch of a new
business. Then you have all of the Companies that have been around for less
than 2 years and the possibility of failure still looms large. We have the
Companies that have been around for 3-5 years or longer that have proven to be stable Companies and have created many success stories.

How about adding the evolution of social networking and media sites that we call Web 2.0 Many of these sites now offer their members the ability to earn income through their compensation plans.

If that wasn't enough, if you are an online marketer you need to drive traffic to your website(s) and generate leads, prospects and customers. We have a continually growing list of marketing systems that are now being promoted that are designed to do everything for you on auto-pilot.

Every day there are new opportunities and marketing systems, each promising to be the latest and greatest.

Don't get me wrong, all of this is great for the Industry. The opportunity to generate income on the Internet has never been stronger. Guess what, there is also a growing number of expert Mentors and trainers and gurus that will show the newbie Network Marketer or the struggling Network Marketer exactly how to generate wealth on auto-pilot.

However, for many in the Industry, this is where the problem exists. It is becoming more and more difficult for both experienced marketers and inexperienced marketers to limit the number of business opportunities they chase.

The result has been that many Network Marketers feel overwhelmed and confused. They are losing money and FOCUS. I receive calls and e-mails from marketers quite often telling me that they just got involved in 3 new business ventures and they feel overwhelmed.

This is certainly an added concern for those that are pursuing their online dream part-time while they continue to work the day job. ( which is the overwhelming majority of MLMers )

If you are new to Network Marketing or struggling to build your online or home based business, you need to listen to the following warning...

STOP...STOP NOW...

The narrower you focus, the better chance prospects and customers will perceive you as a quality marketer. If you want to attract serious business builders to your opportunity you will need to be considered high quality yourself.

It is usually difficult to be taken seriously when you try to market to everyone with multiple streams of products and services, many of which are unrelated.

When you are constantly searching for "new" opportunities, you waste time and money. If you are fortunate enough to establish a business that is generating a healthy income, you may waste your profit on chasing your other opportunities.

As an alternate plan, you may want to consider doing your due diligence, then choose the RIGHT business opportunity for YOU. Promise yourself to be laser focused on that one. Once you have achieved a level of success, then you may want to investigate additional business opportunities.

So, remember...

When you narrow your FOCUS, you WILL attract exactly the type of prospects, business Associates and customers that you need to succeed in this Industry. They will be inspired and motivated by your dedication and will view your opportunity as the RIGHT opportunity.

Here's to your success.

Have a great sponsoring day,

Marc

I learned  lot hanging out in forums like this one. I also subscribed to a handful of ezines from full time internet marketers. Be careful not to buy every new secret that comes out. Find a way to make money with a product you enjoy. Hobbies are good for this if you can integrate affiliate marketing into one.

Well,

A good way to start for you is to find a product or two you like,

that you've purchased and can write a review or two on.

Create a blog on blogger and add more reviews

and content as you go. Promote your blog on

forums like this and make sure you put your

affiliate link in with your reviews.

Hi Mark,

My advice would be to stay cool and don't fail for false promises to make you rich until tomorrow. That simply don't exist. Whatever you choose, you have to be prepared to work for that. Before you join anything, make sure you can contact your upline and the company itself. Try to contact them even before you join to see how quick they will get back to you. Sometimes it takes ages and that's not what you want.

Good luck to you!

Hi Mark,

It seems like everyone here has provided some pretty good advice so far. It can be a little challenging and frusterating at first, and also down the road, because there is alot of information out there.  As others have said, if you join mlm try to link up with a good upline that is willing to train you and put your best interests at heart.  There's alot of pitfalls to fall into, and avoiding them will save you a great deal of time and frustration.  MLM offers a great opportunity.  Just remember don't take it lightly because afterall, it is a real business.

As to your question about training resources, there are some very good programs out there that can help you get on the right track that you looking for.

Best of Luck

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the industry.

Over the last 2 years, I have developed 6 solid income streams online ranging from Network Marketing to Investing (with companies who do Forex/Currency trading), to something as fun and silly as Sports Betting.

All 6 income streams are growing each month and life is a blessing.

This industry (making money online) does not have to be complicated, and in fact, earning your first $500-$1000 per month is something that is both easy and fun.

Drop me an email or a PM with your email address, and allow me to show you my 44-0 sports betting set up. I'm teaching people how to earn $500 in their very first month with virtually no risk.

And the best part is, your big risk is sending me your email address.

Then you can literally watch the system and prove to yourself that it works, before ever taking any additional steps.

Welcome again to the Online Business Industry. It has been the biggest blessing to me and my family.

Warm Regards,

Broker Jones
