Most people get into network marketing because they are frustrated with their day job and want to get out of it. If you are going to stay in network marketing, then it is extremely important that you get some training and understand how important it is for that training to be ongoing. It is not easy to build a successful sales organization.
A good training program will teach you the basics as well as how to increase your profit. When you start building your downline you will be expected to train them. This is another reason why it is great to have a good training program in place so that you can share it with them. This will ensure that they are successful and will make you successful, too.
When you are searching for the perfect training program, keep in mind that other people have done this kind of business successfully and you will want to learn from them and mimic their methods. A good training program can show you how to market your product the right way to garner more sales.
You will want to learn how to use the internet as the powerful marketing tool that it is. Your program should teach you how to write effective ads and powerful sales letters. Also, it should show you how to set up a way to contact your prospects or leads on a regular basis, how to effectively use the internet, how to manage your downline, and how to add more revenue streams without adding to your workload.
You can find some good network marketing programs that will help you improve your communications skills. This will reduce your rejection and eliminate your anxiety and fear you most likely get when you are talking to people. You can also find programs that will help you improve your listening skills and show you how to think positively.
Some programs will even show you how to set attainable goals, how to get organized, and how to motivate yourself. You can also get lead training that will help you wade through the leads and get the best leads for your business. One of the best things about the many training programs available today is that they are inexpensive and you can access them on your home computer. Some of them could even be free. If you are truly serious about your network marketing business and want to make it your full time career, then you need to commit to a good training program.
Look at some of the leaders in the network marketing business. Some of them have created training programs that will show you how they did it. Read through their material and if it doesn’t work for you, then leave it and move on.
God Bless,
Michael

I like to add something VERY IMPORTANT here.
We all know how much JUNK is out there.
We all have to take complete responsibility over who we choose to learn from. When we decide to learn something from someone...we have to be careful who we are learning from.
I came across some self proclaimed MLM guru but turns out to be nothing more than someone selling internet marketing tools. They collect the email you gave in their landing pages and then constantly send you nothing but ads.
One way which I personally use to identify the right guys to learn from is whether they have made their first million in network marketing.
I want to make sure they have great skills from ACTUALLY building a MLM business, before I learn from them.
The second thing I look out for is the BOOKS which they have read. Reading LOTS of books are a common trend among millionaires.
I learned a lot from a $20 million/yr who had a LIBRARY of books on psychology...business building...sales...copywriting...
Really, the amount of experience and the books they read can tell you whether or not you will be LEARNING EFFECTIVE information.
Not some junk which people can simply re-spin off articles grabbed from article directories.
Just be careful who you learn from.

Hi Michael,
Training is such an important part of self-development and learning the business and industry. Many people seem to overlook this important element that leads to success. You can never have too much education/self-development. As you say it has to be an ongoing process.
If your specific company does not have a good training program in place then don't hesitate to work upline to find a successful mentor/trainer. In addition there are many noncompany related trainers that are professional, successful, and awesome in sharing their knowledge, many times for free.
Some of these trainers include Dani Johnson, Todd Falcone, Jeff Combs, Bob Proctor, and many others. Many people have newsletters that you can subscribe to to get additional gold nuggets of information.
Always keep an open mind, learn all you can, and be selective as to what you want to incorporate into your own business in alignment with your personality.

Hi Craig -
I totally agree with your statement, "Always keep an open mind, learn all you can, and be selective as to what you want to incorporate into your own business in alignment with your personality." That is the key. If the training does not suit your personality, you will not succeed.

I'm new to this forum, and I've been reading all morning! I just cannot believe how much good information is here. I must have been hiding under a rock or something. lol.
I am a HUGE believer that a good training program helps teach newbies to pros the ins and outs of having a profitable home biz. And, it's important that you don't skim the information; you have to understand it to be able to teach others on your team how it's done.
Some of this training is expensive and some of it is free. You just have to know where to look.

| I understand that one would need good training before they get into this, Please suggest what kind of training should a person take and where is the training available and how much would it cost.

Well said, Craig. Training, first received then given is the key to success. My personal philosophy is a simple one. Duplicate. If I make it my mission to teach and help others to succeed, both by instruction and by example, I will build an organization that could not be toppled over if struck by a bomb! It's simple really. People helping people to succeed and to prosper. That's MLM and it's good business. Life works best that way, as well. Help others and one helps oneself. No, it's not rocket science, it's just common sense, and oh so simple.

Training is such an important aspect of any Network Marketing business. Part of that training is mindset. Preparing your mind for success and having the mindset to succeed is vital.

Very Interesting Indeed..
It is last week when one particular company sent out this training tip advising distributors not to...
"reinvent the wheel and to follow what their uplines have always done".
Surely, does this kind of training work? Do these people see how the world is moving? It is only yesterday when media like youtube and myspace were nothing.
Surely for those not making a transition to the internet, I dont know what the future holds for them.
Blessings

I think you can duplicate in some areas. But let's look at the Network Marketing greats. Can every action be duplicated? Really? Probably not. Everyone has to find their own niche and what works best. Yes, some things are duplicatable and some are not.
It's important to study many and find what works for you.

Iwillard,
This is a wonderful point. Many People think that when you are not going to school for higher education, you are doing nothing.
But there is nothing that beats self education. The knowledge I have acquired in reading personal development materials is far greater than what I gained in my many years of studying.
"It's important to study many and find what works for you."
I agree, But many uplines don't give their distributors a chance... when they try, they are always reminded that they will fail.

TAnn,
You make a good point about many uplines not really wanting their new recruits to step out and learn different ways of marketing. I personally struggled with that a bit.
But it was actually through reading, and learning about marketing, that I had the courage to go off and apply some of the new, less traditional network marketing methods to my business.
See the great thing about continuing to educate yourself, is that knowledge gives you the CONFIDENCE to do all of the things that you want to do.
Once you learn a new marketing technique for instance, you then have the confidence to apply it because you understand how it will help you in your business.
So in my mind, mlm trianing is not just about learning the nuts and bolts of this game we call business. It is about building up the person, to carry themselves with the confidence needed to be successful in business and in life.

This is my first visit. There are good contributors and information on here. Thanks
On the question of training I have found http://www.thenetworkmarketingmagazine.com to be one of the best sources for real world information from contributors who have lived it.
I started out with their free issue. You can can sign up for it on the right side of the homepage. I was hooked after just reading that one issue.
I know the $97/year seems high, but the sent me a promotion about 3 days after I got the free issue and I got a whole year of the platinum subscription for $20.
If anyone has an interest then I will post it here.
Again... this online magazine has been the best tool I have used.

No doubt training is big.
You need to be in a constant state of increasing your knowledge so you can give VALUE to those around you and be a SOLUTIONS PROVIDER which positions you as an EXPERT in front of your prospects.
So, invest in yourself! Don't be afraid to spend money on quality training or courses...there is a lot of great info out there for under $100 and many GREAT courses in the $300-$500 range...and be careful of getting lost in "information overload" with all the "free" stuff that is out there on the internet.
TIP: Be careful to not be 100% training focused. You will get STUCK in training and never get anywhere in your business. Spend about 10% of your day on training (reading a book, visiting forums or checking out blogs you watch in your reader).
And when you invest in some training...don't forget to IMPLEMENT! :-)
TIP: Some of the best training you can go through is actually DOING things shortly after you begin to learn them...trial and error to test things out for yourself...it's best to make mistakes by getting started then trying to feel you have to be a MASTER before you take your first step.
Besides, even if you study something for 60-days, you'll make mistakes out of the gate that you could have already learned had you started implementing on Day 1.
Good luck!
John

Good Afternoon Michael:
I just wanted to add the following to what you've already posted:
Network marketing training is imperative if you have a network marketing business. This training is very important in equipping the entrepreneur who intends to make a success of the MLM opportunity that he or she is involved with. Network marketing training is key in the development of your business. This is why the right training is not only necessary, but vitally important to your future success. Your training is the foundation on which your success in building a large organization (and long-term residual income) is built. A key part of your training is the development a defined business plan.
I hope this will help you along in the MLM arena.
Take care and GOD Bless!!
Reggie

When training your "newbie", are you remembering to pay attention to what part of the learning curve he/she is on?
Are you paying attention to his/her learning style?
I find that if I take the time to find out how much my person knows, it gives me an idea on how to teach. For example, a guy I brought into my primary mlm is from Missouri. This guy is a good friend of mine, but is pure hill-billy. (no offense to anyone from Missouri).
He is ambitious and hardworking, really all you have to do is wind him up and point him in the right direction.
I recently tried to walk him through some tasks online that I thought to be very simple. He became so frustrated, I didn't hear back from him for a couple days.
Had I taken the time to ask his level of computer literacy, I could've spared 3 crucial days, rather than frustrating him over something very small.
In the end it turned out that he just didn't know what I meant by "browser". He was too ashamed to ask.
My bad....

I agree with you completely...
From someone that just graduated from UCLA, I have learned so much more teaching myself through these books and getting the training to be successful in this business it is crazy...
I love UCLA, but what I learn "in the trenches" is worth more than anything.

Hi FreedomFire,
You have stated so eloquently how important Training is to the networker. What is sad, is there are many who have opted into Network Marketing and Internet Marketing, but they have not been exposed to the proper training, therefore, after a short period of time of not realizing success at the level they expected, they quit.
You are right, good training is a must and we all should have our own Mentor.

I understand the previous poster's comment that the tools of marketing are always changing....but I would submit that there are some things that do NOT change.
Thus, it's my recommendation that -- if you're brand new in network marketing and you want to create massive results -- you should start by looking WITHIN YOUR OWN COMPANY to find the people who are living the lifestyle you want.
Chances are good that -- unless they built their organization 30 years ago -- what they're doing is going to work fine for you.
Does that mean that, if your upline isn't using Youtube, that you can't? Of course not? It simply means that using YouTube shouldn't mean that you have to completely ignore everything your upline's system offers, too.
As for purchasing "training systems", the ancient warning applies: CAVEAT EMPTOR. "Let the buyer beware".
We work in an industry where there is no shortage of people who will teach you how to do something that they have never done themselves.
Read that again and then read it again.
Just because someone has managed to put together a slick website and an autoresponder....just because someone runs ads that say "your upline is lying to you...here's the truth"....just because a person tells you that their "university" is going to solve all your problems....
...doesn't make it true.
The best thing you can do is look for RESULTS.
Has this person ever built a large and dynamically growing downline in any network marketing company? (Many haven't!)
Are they still in network marketing? If not, why not? (Many so-called "trainers" haven't actively built the business in years. The best ones are still building.)
If they're not currently in network marketing, WHEN were they in network marketing? (One popular trainer's last experience was in building a business 20+ years ago in a company that was shut down for excessive front-loading tactics. ) Even if the "training" sounds good, you have to ask yourself if it's applicable to you and your situation today?
Make no mistake about it: there ARE some good trainers out there. But, before you jump into the idea that you "need to buy training"....why not actually check out the system and training that your successful upline is providing? If it's creating wealth for them....then why muddy the waters by thinking you need to go buy someone's CDs or ebooks?
Food for thought.
