Feel free to add any similar real world MLM marketing ideas as replies to this thread......offline focus only:
God Bless,
Michael

========
Here's another real world example of how some folks market their MLM business AND products/services:
Our area has an event called a "Homearama" annually every fall. For this event select builders in the area construct a number of houses at a pre-determined site (usually a new or nearly new development) for the purpose of "showing" new construction methods, designs, landscaping, interior decorating, trends, floor plans, gadgets, etc. They also showcase the homes for sale and also the area the homes are built in. There are about 5 cities which alternate hosting this event.
The Homearama is a huge event that all the surrounding communities look forward to every year.....and draws 1,000's of visitors daily over about a 2 week time period. This is a great opportunity to "reach" the public with a targeted campaign if you plan well. Just imagine the networking possibilities.
For example I've seen the following:
1. The entrance to the area where the home tours start goes through a long series of "tents" lined with booths populated by various companies and products. You HAVE to walk through this area to get to the homes....and again when you leave. Can you say captive audience?
I've seen a couple groups set up booths in this area offering their products or services (signs, banners, brochures, business cards, videos, etc.). Gifties visitors can take with them go over well (product samples, magenetic stickers for your refrigerator, visors, cups, tote bags, phone pads, pens, etc.). They also have a raffle or contest where some lucky visitor can win free products or services. The typical fill out an entry form with contact info & drop it in a box....with the drawing held the last day (not required to be present).
What's this do?
First it gains visibilty....community branding. A few sales directly and lots of interested folks picking up "information" and/or samples. And of course lots of coversations to follow-up on.
Second, the contest/raffle creates a list of potential contacts for follow-up via the entry forms (name, address, phone number, email).
Note: for this to be successful you'd need to have a dedicated team of local distributors willing to man the booth and talk with folks during the events open hours. Also they should have a clear plan for following up with any contacts made.
2. Some folks have even been able to have their products displayed in the homes themselves through relationships or negotiated agreemets with the builders, decorators, or event planners. For example how about Mia Bella candles attractively shown in the Master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, or formal dining room? How about Noni on the kitchen counter.... or Melalueca on the bathroom vanity....or WorldVerge on the computer screen....or Packet8 by the phone, or....well you get the idea.
Also, not just the products/services are shown. You also display a business card rack so interested vistors can "find out more".
3. Here's one that's not so obvious....relationshipping with other vendors, real estate agents, mortgage brokers, concessionaires, and builders who participate in the event. Your potential contacts aren't limited just to the "visiting" public. Network with the event organizers & participants too.
There's a lot of possibilities with an event like this. In my area it's called Homearama. In other areas it's Showcase of Homes or something similar.
I suggest you look into it and see if you can take advantage of the possibilities yourself.

Here's another "creative" method of offline marketing that will take some effort on your part....but no cash outlay.
Volunteer as a speaker for various business, educational, or other organizations.
Groups like your local Chamber Of Commerce, PTA, Garden Club, Hunt Club, Single Parents, Home Owner's Association, VFW, Church, Little League, Kiwana's, VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge, etc. hold meetings where they frequently need speakers. Do some research and find out all such groups in your area then contact them to volunteer your services as a speaker.
You'll have to do some work to prepare a talk pertinent in subject matter to their interest ... of course. But the event itself as well as the contacts you'll make create a great networking opportunity for you.
People will be curious about what you do. The host will obviously introduce you before you speak and include a little about "who you are". Just make friends and share as appropriate when appropriate.
This is more about branding yourself in the community and reaching large groups while doing it.
An added benefit of this method is the opportunity to hone your presentation/communication skills and practice simple networking.
God Bless,
Michael

Hello,
I use "drop cards" (sometimes called "sizzle cards") to generate leads. Drop cards are advertisements on business card stock. A couple of weekends ago I dropped 750 cards. I had a lot of hits and a few sales. I feel that when you have someone go through a few steps to get to your main product or service site, it is a high quality, responsive lead.

Here's another inventive idea for you to chew on:
Participating in community charity activities. Just that simple....but with lot's of potential.
For example..... how about your group running in a local 5K for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.....all wearing T-shirts with your group/business name on it. Carry a sign across the finish line with "The Yada Yada company running for a cure" (or whatever....be more creative than that obviously....LOL). Talk to media covering the event. Network with fellow participants. Be involved.
How about your group volunteering to help at functions for your local YMCA ....or local library....or rec center....or PTA...or.... you get the idea.
Have something like a sign, banner, T-shirts that say who you are. But don't pass out brochures and company material. Just network and create visibility. Maybe have a few business cards in your pocket and hand them only to those who ask. You could also have brochures etc. in your car maybe.
Just DON'T make it look like a big marketing gimic. The public will see right through it. Instead create an identity & branding within your community. This establishes a sense of acceptance and curiosity you can build upon by following up with contacts made during these events.
We have a couple groups who apply this concept very well in our annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life. You could too.
Remember to adhere to any "rules" of the specific event sponsor and your particular company.
Basically....just be seen & have fun.
God Bless,
Michael

Lots have places have noticeboards just crying out for your business card! For example, the swimming club where I take my son every Sunday has one. With all those "yummy mummys" (this is a UK term so I'm guessing you guys from stateside and elsewhere might not get this!) hanging round for junior, someone's gotta see it!
Andy.

Offline marketing can be a lot of fun, and rewarding. Here in the DFW area one really great service I have used is the Work at Home Job Fairs. The next one is suppose to be sometime in January. The folks that put these on have been doing them for about 9 years. Most have over 500 folks in attendance. Check out http://wahjf.com
We also had a booth at the Oak Cliff Health Fair last year. The table was only $25.00, and we probably had 150 to 200 people come by our booth. We also were able to go around and meet some of the other vendors.
Some of these events can be rather expensive, so make the most of them. Plan Plan Plan. Have good marketing materials, and a way to capture your prospect's information when they stop by your booth. Follow up with everyone soon after the event. Also get plenty of rest the night before, you will be on your feet a good 8 to 10 hours!
Best Regards,
Joe

Hi
you can also give to your friends sun screens.
you can buy only 10 or 20 units (about 7-10$ each).
it is also great way to approach peoples from your "chicken list"
ask one if he would like to help you advertise your business and he will probably will want to here about it him self.

Although I now market almost exclusively online, I did, at one time, had one of the fastest growing teams in the country in one of the largest mlms in North America. Built entirely offline.
There is no question that building thru warm market is the best way. The trouble is that many people don’t want to talk to their warm market. What we would do with our team is get people to do up a list of their warm market and we would then contact those people ourselves and build peoples downlines for them.
The goal is to simply find somebody thru this process who will step up and do what you are doing. Then just repeat the process.
If you are always getting a list of 30-50 people from every new recruit, you will never run out of prospects.

Hi Mark,
I have ujsed sizzle cards for about six months now. It is just one of my reaching out methods.
I average 2-3 leads a day with many people not being all that business miinded or coachable. I have found some good partners and customers.
I post in alot of places: gas pumps, ATMs, newspaper machines, vending machines, landromats, chinese restaurants, supermarkets, fliers on light poles, even ads online.
There is a good site where you can learn more and listen to some good training: http://www.growthpro.com
What have your experiences and results been like?

Here's one.
Create a system, provide name card designs to affiliates
that they can give out. Its necessary to personalise the
system so that they would look like the co owners.
Then just give the name cards away.

Try sizzle cards.
You can get some at http?ww...growthpro.com But be careful with mailboxes because of privacy.
I have found the bes places for sizzle cards are ATMs, vending machines, gas pumps, laundromats, chinese takeout restaurents and nespaper machines.
It is a numbers game with sizzle cards. Alot of sorting and sifting to find serious business minded prospects.

After reading this, the thought came to me of advertising by printing out flyers and putting them on cars (under the wind screen wiper) of cars in busy areas...
I quite often have flyers put onto my car and usually look at it..
Has anyone done this and was it worth the effort???
Thanks
Ammee

I have had great success with trade shows.
I put up an attractive display and a draw box for a gift basket that includes chocolate.
I find a gift basket with chocolate in it is hard to resist.
Then I follow up with all the people who entered the draw after the show.

Be careful with placing fliers on cars. when I tried putting sticky notes on cars I got at least ten angry phone calls.
Car window magnets or raer window signs work better, I have a friend in Texas who finds at least one or two prospects every week using this method.

I think that giving out freebies in exchange for
private information is still the best way to be able
to generate some viable leads. Apart from that
the best are always being present in seminars or
getting to meet new people along the way with
exchanging name cards .
Just need to spend about 3-5 minutes over each
new person.
Cheers,
Vern
