Newspaper advertising works well and not may online home based businesses advertise in the local newspaper..I looked in my local paper the other day and there was one ad for home based business. Im going to be putting an ad in there next week for sure.

"With all the emphasis on online marketing, most people are probably forgetting one of the most powerful means of advertising available.
I'm talking about classified advertising in newspapers. Most people are aware of what you have to do to place an ad in a daily or weekly newspaper, but did you know there are companies that will place your ad in literally hundreds of papers with circulation's in the millions for pennies per ad? Instead of paying the ridiculously high ad rates newspapers charge for a single classified, you can get that very same ad placed in hundreds of newspapers for pennies. Usually about $0.20-$0.30 per ad.
Another good thing is that many of these newspapers will accept business opportunity ads too. Below is a list of a few companies you can contact or visit their web sites and see the prices of their advertising packages. Think about it, one ad that draws a response rate of .05%, that's 1/2 of 1 percent, on a circulation of 4 million can bring in $10,000-$20,000 in a very short period of time. Your cost for this type of ad. About $250-$450. These companies also offer less expensive packages if you just want to test an ad. But this type of advertising works. You can post your URL in the ad and still sell from your website.
Maybe you've never given much thought to this type of advertising related to your online business. Maybe none of your programs ever discussed this with you. Maybe they just don't know about it. But now you have a very powerful means of getting your message out that can earn substantial profit on your investment.

You can also find great packages through state or regional press associations. Each state or region has press associations which consist of a group of newspapers. You can do a search at any search engine for 'press association' and find this information. Many will even help you with your ad.

Hi all!
I have tried to put an ad in US and also UK today from the internet, but it seems that they don't accept it because I live in Sweden. There is a drop down menu, that, just have US states listed.
Do anyone know if there are a possibility for me to advertise in for example United States?

Thanks for this information Michael. There is a fellow who advertises in our local paper with his networking opportunity and has done consistently for quite some time. I will contact my local papers tomorrow. Thanks for the classified sites you provided.

 I have just placed a classified ad for a month in two newspapers with Nation Wide Classifieds..my ads will run for a full month..you have to print your recipt out and then after you sighn it you have to fax it to them..it seems a good way to go...

Hello, My name is Brian Seaman, I live in Australia, am self employed and just started an Online Business of my own. I do agree with you, not many people advertise in the newspapers, I know the Internet is taking over, but there is a huge market to address through the newspapers. I am certainly thinking off advertising in the papers.

| Newspaper advertising can be a very good advertising medium. The only problem that occurs is you'll get a number of tire kickers who are not really looking for an opportunity, but instead are responding because your ad looked interesting or they are looking for a job. Hello Everyone!
Are you using newspaper classified ads? You should be! I have found placing classified ads in a couple of local papers gives me a consistent return of 3 to 5 times my investment. The funny thing is, off line advertising is (in my opinion) more effective than online advertising. Most people in these forums are promoting their opportunity or product with online marketing. This works of course if you know what you are doing but keep in mind that there's lots and lots of competition online.
Let me know your thoughts.

Offline methods aren't as overlooked as you may believe. There's been quite a few enlightening discussions on this area with some great tips shared since this forum began years ago.

That is where my reply was coming from...to point out that there's a nice mix here of what people do.... and what they discuss here (over a number of years). That's also what we encourage for discussions...touch on everything so evryone can find something of benefit.

We'll have to agree to disagree.  . What has caught my attention in the last few months is a noticable difference in people I am working with online when compared to more traditional "brick and mortar' businesses.
PS . Curious to know why you assume to know better. FYI, I owned a marketing franchise for 4 years.

You "implied" THIS Forum and that's where my response was coming from. THIS forum is NOT all about online nor are the majority of members ALL online. My history here with the membership and dialogue goes back years and of course I then benefit from that.
My comments weren't concerning your experience, assumptions, observations, or assessments of anyplace else but homebasedbusinessforums.com.
I am in no way denigrating doing anything offline as I agree with you there...don't overlook that aspect and print media is a good vehicle. I've given advice there myself as I pointed out above.
I'm simply pointing out that contrary to what you stated everyone HERE at homebasedbusinessforum.com are not tunnel visioned into online methods. I vehemently oppose that viewand labeling of our forum .... and constantly am pointing out to everyone here to "do both"...or "don't overlook this and that offline" and "try this online"....to open eyes and minds. I don't want folks to overlook either....and don't want too much of 1 or the other to overwhelm discussion and learning opportunities here.
We do have 1 board devoted to discussion, learning, and sharing of web marketing information and that's the extent of any focus for it.
Your labeling of our forum and membership goes contrary to who we really are, what we have shared together over many years, and the facts of our forum purpose, history, and practice. Offline methods, insights, tips, and ideas are often debated and shared HERE. That is where I was coming from.
Your experience as a marketing franchise owner aside.... I do know better when it comes to this forum and how your statement could be interpreted when applied to "us". It was necessary to set the record straight....as it applied to US. I have no interest or comment with regards to anywhere else.

Newspaper Advertising Works. Yes it does. Recently I've had good results, however in the past my results were mediocre to terrible. For the past 8 months I've been studying direct reponse marketing and advertising which have opened my eyes to a whole new world. Prior to meeting a "silent" marketing millionaire in Nov. 2005 I had NO CLUE about marketing. ( i thought I did)
Newspaper Advertising does work, as long as it's the right message and the right call to action...

Hi everyone
I recently discovered in my state paper a great section for placing adds for items that are are priced under $100.
For people who place an add in this section there is no cost.
I advertised some marketing dvds about a business opp I'm in. I'm giving them away free and then contacting people after they watch them. If they decide to join they may keep the dvd to help kickstart their own business. If not I will arrange to collect the dvd.
No cost to me...the add was free to place and lots of potential signups.
The first add runs Tuesday 5 Sept....I'll keep you posted on the results.
Maybe there is something similar in your local or state paper...check it out.
