| hey michael, that was a useful link.I'll have to take some time to digest it. I already have a blog but I haven't got started with one about IM yet. Perhaps I should start one soon just to be able to get a grip on creating a good one in the near future.

Do you have to joine all these sites to submitt your blog? I have a blog I have just started..I wrote and article. and looking for ways to get it craweled. thanks for the tips.

Hi Charlie,
Like Vern said...a webring is 1 way to get traffic. But I wouldn't rely on it alone.
To answer your question...no you don't have to "join" all these sites. You just need to ping every time you post a new article to your blog. I suggest pingoat or something similar that pings multiple blog directories at once.
I'd also submit your individual blog article page to Google, Yahoo, and MSN right after you ping.
I'd also write articles, include your blog website link in the "Author Bio box"....and submit those to article directories. I'd then submit those individual article "pages" from the directories to Google, Yahoo, and MSN too.
I'd also put your blog url in your sigline in all forums you post in, all emails you send out, and all coorespondence of any kind offline and online.
See what you're doing here?
You're getting your blog url seeded online...... so it's easier to find by targeted niche markets searching on what you are offering.

Oh yeah , thats ONE thing I missed - Thanks michael for reminding. Writing an Article is a good way to brand yourself and its targetted since what you're writing will be read by individuals interested in that subject.

Thanks for all the resources and info. I did my first blog yesterday. I was surprised how easy it was once I'd written my article. I used pingomatic to send it out.

TOS stands for Terms Of Service. The "rules" or policy you have to agree to follow in order to be able to use Adsense. Break it....and there are consequences you won't like.
As for how it works....just read it. It's part of the registration process. Pretty self explanatory.

You don't join blogs...you have your own (as in 1)....and post your article there. You then ping blog directories (Using Pingoat or Pingomatic multiple blog pinging services for example) to "notify" the world that you've just updated your blog (added new content).
Others will see this and may ask you if they can share your article on their own site for their readers (might be a blog or a real website)....or publish in an ezine to their subscribers. They may also see your specific article page (each blog post will automatically have 1...at least if you use Google's Blogger system) show up in a seach engine query for key words contained in your article. To make sure specific article pages get listed I'd submit them to SEs yourself (Google, Yahoo, and MSN...and maybe a couple metasearch directories like Dogpile or Metacrawler).
In short...you only need to "post" your article once...to your own blog.

Hey Michael thaks for the info here this is great...im going to start pinging my blogs from now on..and I will submitt them to the yahoo directory and msn goodle and a few more. how often to you ping? everytime you put a new article on your blogg? have a great day

Yep, every time you add new ANYTHING to your blog (articles, links, design updates, whatever).....Ping IMMEDIATELY.
I post an article to each of my blogs (I have 2.... http://Best-MLM-Resources.blogspot.com and http://Broadband-Nation.blogspot.com ). A different article for each obviously. I check for any typos etc. .... then immediately use pingoat.com and ping the blog directories.

By the way, I just have a very small question. When you place a keyword hyperlink text on your sig file in forums, does it mean that that particular keyword will be spidered via its entire phrase (like "best mlm resources") or it will do a broad keyword spidering.
Something like adwords you know.. what do you think ?
I'm curious.

Short answer...that particular keyword will be spidered via its entire phrase. The rest of your "article" will get a broad keyword spidering.
