I just ran across this neat little tool today while doing some research for a spring cleaning of my blogs.  It will automatically generate the html for RSS feed buttons (chicklets) you can then put on your blog to help visitors subscribe to your article feed.

Covers a lot of possible feed and subscribtion sources giving you and your readers lots of choices.  Pretty cool...very fast...and really easy to use.  Just fill in a couple boxes...click.... than cut & paste the html generated into your blog template.

You may want to try http://www.submitemnow.com.  When you install it, it creates a bar in your Internet Explorer or Firefox Browaer.  You then set up a project and you can automate submitting your blog to over 100 sites and irctories.

I also recommend http://www.feedburner.com to activate and ping your blog feeds and posts.

Hi,

I've been trying to exactly understand RSS feeds.  Are they like a link to your blog for people to "mark" your site so they know when you post something new?  And, if you you sign up at these RSS sites, does their icon show on your blog?  If so, then you would probably want to be very selective when signing up???  Thanks.

Yvette

Yvette,

An RSS feed is a web based format used to publish frequently updatedcontent, like a blog.  Wikipedia has a good explnation here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format)

With an RSS feed, readers of your blog can get updates at many sites, like My Yahoo, Google etc.  Feedburner at http://www.feedburner.com has a very easy interface and tool to activate your feeds.

If you have a well optimized blog with a pleasing format and you frequently post good and original contaent, you then need to activate the feedd and ping it.  You can also ping it at http://www.feedburner.com

You should have it listed on the first page in about three weeks if you do it correctly.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the information.  I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, posting and pinging.  I'm not so technically astute.  I have sites on my blog, as a result of other sites I've signed up for.  Is there an HTML code to use?  Can I use my blog address here.  Here goes.

Here's my blog:  http://RahimahSultan.blogspot.com

I think my difficulties with understanding all this RSS and ATOM feed stuff must be
age related. I remember when the RUBIK cube was all the rage. I could just manage
to complete two sides after about a week. My kids aged in their early teens could
manage to get the whole thing completed in about three days flat! I know that in
their eyes, they were slow!

Now I'm having to deal with all these other internet issues and it is doing my head in.

Still, I'll get there, eventually. Just keep the information flowing and I'll pick up what I
can in time.

Hi Michael
I think blogs are the craze just not for Network Marketers. I think many dont use blogs for whatevery reason. There should be more doing it not just to make money but to develop a community for their team or down line. It is all about duplication and blogs would help with this area. I think alot of people are missing the point about blogging - to pass on information.

Thanks for the list Michael... You may have inspired me to revisit all my old dead blogs and start updating them so that I can submit them to the list.

Hi,

A couple of months back, I switched my blogs over to Wordpress.  There was a bit of a learning curve; but now that I'm getting the hang of it, I'm really enjoying the flexibility and piece of mind from having my blogs hosted on my own website.

One problem that I've run into since I've been over here in Iraq though, is that our computers here at work live behind a pretty restictive firewall.  Thankfully I can see my blogs, and even get into the wordpress admin area.  But, I can't access my webhost cpanel.  This made it very difficult and time consuming to upload new themes or plugins to my blog.  (had to use the Much slower computers in the morale building)

Then yesterday, I was fortunate enough to discover a new plugin that will make things much, much easier ... not only for the next couple of weeks while I'm still here; but even once I get back home too.  The plugin is called OneClick.  I wrote a post about it on my PartTimeNetworker blog.  Here's the link: http://parttimenetworker.com/2007/09/11/oneclick-plugin/

Hope you find this useful ... keep havin FuN!

Todd
