Hosting a WordPress blog on your own domain does seem daunting at first. When I built my first one a year ago, just getting a host account scared me. But if you get a hosting company that has CPanel and Fantastico, it's a push-button process. Your first one is up and running in no time.
Threre's a lot to be said for having a blog that really is your own site. In addition to what others here have said, you can add plug-ins to improve your SEO dramatically. You can't use the plug-ins if you set up a free blog through WP itself.
The learning curve really isn't that bad. I have no formal knowledge of anything to do with computers, and I've managed to find my way around WP pretty well by now. I'll even add AdSense code right into the PHP pages myself, without knowing much beyond the simplest concepts of HTML.

Hi all,
I am a newbie in Internet Marketing and Home Based Business. After reading some articles and posts it seems blogging is one of the most powerful and effective way for Internet Marketing.
As a newcomer in the business , i am not understanding what kind of Blog platform should I use to start blogging. I mean should i choose to make a blog that is Free or should i choose to Host my blog on my Own Domain ?
Looking for your Guidance and Suggestions.

I assume most people keep their blogs at blogspot becuase of ease of use and its EASY to teach someone how to create a blog from blogspot.
While it isn't really complicated with one you are hosting elsewhere, there is a slightly higher level of complexity with it.

I don't think word press is at all hard to set up.
- Log in to your domain control panel
- click on the fantastico (smily face icon)
- Point word press to the main domain name or subdomain
- Then click install. How hard is that?
I like blogger. they are easy. But, I don't like not having control over my own content. Blogger is huge because of the content it delivers, I.E. your content.
If they choosse to shut you down because they decided to change some rules and you didn't get the message in time... Gone. or Blogger slapped. Ouch... remember they are Google.
This is why I recommend having a word press.org blog. You are in control. Besides free to use blogs are dying out in the natural search results. Like the sub domain did in 2001.

"First....for everyone it's a personal choice often based more on convenience, ease, website development expertise, time management, comfort zone, etc. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to take advantage of this avenue. Keeping it simple is OK.
Since I offer others advise, tips, ideas, etc daily on lots of areas of network marketing (not just blogs...and not just on my blog).... I always choose and use the simplest example.
Folks relate better to that than some rocket science approach. It's the best starting point...everyone can do it...and everyone can grow from there at the pace best for them. "
