Hi guys
Since I pulled so much great information off of this forum the last couple of days I've been wracking my brains for something to give back.
In some of the posts I noticed people asking where others got their writing ideas from. I read a great tip about writing from Neil Peart the drummer and major lyric contributor to the rock band Rush.
" I think everybody has ideas all the time. The trick is to carry a small memo pad with you everywhere you go and recognize when you are mentally writing something. Develop the presence of mind to actually write the idea and don't just think about it. You wont be in the mood to write all the time, but if you keep this idea pad going, then when you feel like writing there will be plenty of ideas that you can draw from."

Hey Gary,
That's great advice. In fact one of the major internet marketing presences I know of takes time every morning to write in his notebook. First he spends about 30 minutes reading, and then takes the next 30 minutes to write down ideas, to-dos for the day, etc.
When I've done this I've been pretty impressed with sense of accomplishment I feel as I mark off each task. With a child who gets up a unpredictable times of the morning though it's a challenge to keep in the routine.

Hi Gary,
I started using the method that you described some time ago. I noticed that most of my ideas would come when I wasn't actually working. Examples: driving in the car(the think tank)watching tv or when I was actually working the 9-5. I would try an remember my thoughts later on when I was actually brainstorming(working the business)and I found it difficult to remember details.
Now everywhere I go I have my notebook with me. Its funny the way ideas come to me, its like someone just turned on a light. I go to my book and I write. I think mood also has a great deal to do with it. Some days I could write all day and others I'm lucky to get a sentence down. Thats okay though! When it flows you go with it. Ideas come out when they want to.
The advice you have given is great! It does work!

Hi Jason
It seems as if my best thinking happens at 2:00 am. That brain buzz thing, drives me crazy. It would be nice to have a thought during normal business hours.

Gary, that was funny!
Get this! The day I wrote that post I really wasn't having a productive day, with regard to ideas or writing. The following day, which was yesterday, was a very good day for ideas and writing.
The idea and writing guys inside of me can have any schedule they like as long as the are consistent, persistent and don't take to much time off!
And today seems to be a day of humor! My thanks to you Gary!
