Another way to optimize and promote your blog is to set up a Squidoo lens and put a link to your blog on the lens . I have links to all of my blogs on my Squidoo lens and to my Squidoo lens a=on my blogs. It increases the links, creating a "blog farm"

i have my own lens in people group, and have linked to my main blog
I think tiffany dow is spot on when she says squidoo is and should be used to funnel traffic instead of make sales ie through ebay lenses etc
im halfway thru a home network storage lens which will have an rss feed updated for my home network storage blog
and also will have a link to my free pdf report how to buy a home network storage device

I agree. Just make sure you have good original content on you Squidoo lensa nd blog

Adding meta tags to your blog is one of the most important ways to get your blog indexed by search engines. You want to add, the meta tags to the html code of your blog. This allows search engines, like Google, MSN, and Yahoo to read your blog properly.
Along with the meta tags, you will need to include your keywords. The keywords must fit the topic of your blog. You should add about 4-6 keywords that explain, in detail, what you blog is about.
By implementing just these two things to your blog, will greatly improve the ranking of your blog.
Lastly, keep the content of your blog fresh; meaning change it at least once a month or more, if you can. Spiders, as well as search engines like fresh content in articles and blogs.

Metatags are not as important as they once were. Fresh and original content is still crucial. You should have at least 5-10 pillar articles on your blog in the categories most searched for in your niche. Then go to the social bookmarking sites and social news sitrs and submit your article. I submit to: http://www.digg.com, htto://www.stumbleupon.com, http://www.onlywire.com, http://www.reddit.com, http://www.plugim.com, and http://www.marktd.com, to name a few. One of my posts made it to the first page of Google in one day and has been there for over a week. Jon

The tips were useful. But i have a doubt in the link exchange programmes. I own a blog which is a new one. So my PR is 0. How will i exchange links with blogs of higher PR. I do not have any friends having a high PR. So is only buying links the only way to bring in more traffic for me???
Also please tell me about this link exchange. If anyone is interested in sharing with me, then i would gracefully accept the invitation.
