I still am confused on the rss feed what is this and what is the benefit of the rss feed.

In general terms an RSS feed is an "auto-update" of your blog posts which people will subscribe to. For example....when you update your blog (post a new article) anyone subscribing through your RSS feed will automaticall recieve the update. Sort of an ezine/autoresponder on steriods. Lots of action for very litle effort.
