Hey,

First of all I'd like to say that I'm glad I found this forum. It seems like it's full of information and I like that. Well, I'm new here so I'll be the first to call myself a newbie. Haha.

I just have some questions for being the new kid on the block when it comes to blogging it! I'm more interested on how I should go about doing my blogging process rather than how to write. I already got that down; I've done a bit of poking around here to get some ideas on that.

As far as getting traffic to my business I believe it's essential to sell myself. Not my life story but you get the picture. Well, okay. I can do that. I also know that it's better to talk about exciting news and it doesn't really have to be directly about your business since anything can direct more traffic. For example, I sell travel, so talking about my vacation to Maui, HI could gain some interests.

However, if you go about doing things this way, do you have another blog on its own that talks a little bit about your business and what you have to offer? I'm thinking this is the only way I'm going to be able to do this, or else I can direct people to email me. However, I think that's not a good idea because you want to make it easy for your potential prospects.

Just let me know if I'm on the right path. I don't want to get the ball rolling to find out that there's a brick wall in my path. I'm all about taking my time and doing things right the first time.

I'm not a perfectionist here; I just don't want blogs I wrote spreading with mistakes or information left out.

Take care,

Devin

I am not a expert by any stretch of the imagination. But I have started a blog about my business and the success and failures. I give a brief bio of myself not to much but enough to let the reader know that I am not a expert and that if I can do it they can to. Then I just wrote about my business and ups and downs because the last thing I want to do is mislead people. It just so happens that the MLM I am in is how to create and be successful at home based Internet business, so this blog goes right along with that.

As far as getting things right the first time. Good luck. But don't get down if you fail you know most of the greatest men in history have failed many times. You just have to persevere. Its not how you start its how you finish.

Keep on keeping on and I wish you the best

Dale

Dale,

That was the response I was looking for. Thank you very much. It makes me feel better knowing that I'm on the right track.

Also, I'm not afraid to fail in this world. I have been active as an entrepreneur since I was thirteen yars old but when it comes to blogs and things of that nature I just wanted to make sure.

It seems like I nailed the target from your description.

Take care and good luck to your future!

This is a great forum. I have found many helpful hints and tips from here. So all I can tell you is keep looking at it.  I have found that good entrapeneurs have a vast resource of knowlegde and they aren't afraid to share for the greater good in the community of the likes. Be sure to check back frequently and look and respond to as many ads as you can. These people are great and full of knowledge and resources!

Good luck!

Hey Devin,

If you are going for true self branding, remove your biz from the equation completely.  One of the things I teach my students is "be like Oprah..."  lol.  I mean that seriously though.

With all of the competition online, Devin branded as "the vacation guy" is just another guy trying to sell vacation packages or discounts online.

Devin branded as Devin, the guy who has established himself as a leader who if focused on helping others become successful in business and in life, can draw people to him and leverage them with his knowledge into any program he wants.

Cheers!

Rex

Very good advice, Rex. Become someone who others look to for sage advice and it will propel your business faster than anything.

I'm new to this forum but have been building a business for the past 5 years.  I had a tremendous amount of success in the first two years but it stalled because I'd pretty much tapped my out my warm market.  Going into this business, I told my upline that I would NOT cold call and would not push my products or business on anyone who did not show interest after my merely mentioning.  If they didn't ask questions, they were not interested.

My business is now growing again in spite of my not actively building it.  The irony is that the less I talk about it the faster it grows.  People who know me just think I have an online shopping site - which I do.  They go to my main website and blogs for entertainment.  I can't help it if they get curious and click on my adsense ads or my shopping portal.;)  Once in awhile I get a call about how it works, and I tell them.  If they want to take part, if not, no sweat.

Just keep blogging, writing articles, talking, etc.  Eliminate the hype. (Be honest no body has THE GREATEST product.)  You're the only one who's unique.  Embrace that concept and people will embrace you.

Best regards,
Kevin Mastaw

Hi Kevin,

You said something here that I want to point out to everyone...  PLEASE read what Kevin is saying here!

Kevin said that things stalled when "warm market" ran dry.  That happens everytime people go forth without setting themselves apart.  The key to consistent success is reciprocity and branding YOU!

Great point Kevin!

Rex

Hi Devin,

In internet based businesses it is absolutely essential that you have a blog and the right blog will attract the right people. As well it could position you correctly on the search engines to enable to get the traffic you need to succeed. Now I have found that your blog needs to be kept current and changed regularly to keep you moving up. So keep this in mind.

I hope this helps you.
