We live a day and age where eveyrone checks up on each other. If you want to learn about the characater of a person, Google them. If you want to know what kind of reputation they have on the Internet, again, Google them!
There's a good chance, that if you are promoting your business heavily, that your name is being searched... maybe even consistently.
Here's a great tactic to use for getting listed on the front pages of Google, under your name, even if there is a lot of competition.
When I blog, I always include my name in the title of my blog... either "Rex Harris on how to..." or "how to... by Rex Harris." This works for blog sites, MySpace, YouTube and many of the "Web 2.0" based resources available today!

| That is an interesting idea Rex, and one I have never tried. My name comes up over 100,000 times on Google, and much of that comes from article marketing including my name and a signature file, which works well too. Last edited on Wed Apr 23rd, 2008 03:11 pm by jschuman

| Rex, is that what you meant when you talked about branding, before. I always thought of branding as some long difficult process of getting your name associated with your product. This looks much easier. Simply make sure your name is always at the top of your blog entries, as well as in your own personal blog. I am going to be starting my own blog, but have been struggling with the idea of content. After reading your advice, and checking out numerous blogs, i realized (ding! the light came on) that i just need to be myself, write/speak almost conversationally, and let the content speak for itself. If people like me, and like what i have said, they will click to my profile and check out my biz. Seems almost too simple, but then folks are pretty savvy when it comes to spotting blogs that exist simply for the purpose of hawking a business or product. I guess you might call this an epiphany, LOL!

Thanks Rex, this is a great idea. My name is #1 on google for my some of my articles, but not my blog. I will be implementing this strategy right away
