An interesting concept this Mana or Manna. (I've asked Chris for a clarification as to which it is.) To receive an honor from someone is a wonderful thing.  I was pleased to hear from a friend that she gave me mana. I thanked her and noted that I too had clicked on hers as felt she was deserving. Hence an uncomfortable problem presented itself to me.

1. Should one have to stop and send a Thank You each time someone says "I gave you Manna". Not trying to sound ungreatful but for some receivers that could be quite time consuming.

2. Is reciprocation expected? What if I don't feel they have earned it yet? Even worse, what if they've proved they don't deserve it at all?

I dont know if theres a way to notify you or not!!

You shoudln't feel obligated to return mana unless you really feel inclined to do so.

You cant mess it up! Whatever feels best.  Great discussion though because I think  lot of people aren't familiar with manna?

Chris, I was talking about someone leaving a message saying  "I gave" not a system message.

I personally would prefer to not know from whom it came. It makes it more special in my mind.

So is it Manna or Mana?;)

I had to read up on this mana thing, Pretty neat.

The poll is cool too.  I don't remeber polls on the old system.

Do many folks start polls cuz I haven't seen many?

I like that fact that the polls here remember previous participation.

Now we need more participation!:D

I'd prefer not to know, and I wouldnt feel obligated to return it...though I may be reminded to give, if you know what I mean.

But I suppose I'll need to earn some myself first!

Ciao Bella Mela. You've got Mana!   I know you can deliver good content, Melanie, so I've gotten you started.

Ooops you didn't want to know.  Want make me take it back?  ;)

Have a great week!

I am new to this site, and don't know what Mana (or Manna) is.  Would someone please tell me?

Thanks!

Interesting poll - I have often wondered what people's thoughts were on manna.  Personally, I wouldn't want to know.  Even though I wouldn't feel obligated to return the 'favor', there would be some forum members out there who could try and exploit the system.  We can't have anyone trying to twist manna from the tree! :)

Manna should be a reflection of how much value a certain member brings to the forum, not a reciprocal gift.

Thanks for the post!
Merideth

Hi BP  You may have already seen it but I'll throw the link out for anyone else.  Essentially Mana is a form of recognition.  See What is Mana for a more complete answer.

Clicking on the name of the poster to the left of their message pops up a window of menu choices.  Giving Mana is at the bottom.  Sorry I didn't see your post sooner.

And thanks for the input, Merideth.  I have to share with you that I had the most amusing image of a man standing in front of a tree doing the twist when I read "trying to twist manna from the tree":D

I appreciate your participation here and elsewhere on the forum.

I feel a new business idea coming on........

Mana of the Month Club

$24.99 for your Affiliate Kit which describes what Mana is and how you can give it.
It will also explain Auto-Mana-Ship. For $10.99 per month you can have Mana given, automatically, to two individuals from your submitted list.

Wait!!!!!!!!!!       That's Not All!

For only $39.99 You can enroll in Mega-Mana-Ship.  With Mega, three people not only receive Mana, they get a lovely Send Out Card announcing their acheivement.

It's two businesses in one!  It' pays 2% on the actual Sales Volume for the first level and 1% on the next 2.  Enroll 3 people on Mega-Mana-Ship and get paid 1% on your third level.

Sometimes I just amaze myself.:dude:

ok, this has to be a real silly statement / question. But does mana work like reviews about that person ? If thats so, then its a great thing to do because it should indicate who's who in the forum in terms of a respected icon.

so far, no mana yet for me - need to earn it real soon :)
